Barbara Mandrell was my mother's all time favorite. We had this recorded on VHS and must have watched it 1000 times. My mom passed last year. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing. I remember almost word for word. And it made me tear up more than just a little. Today I feel blessed.
Me and my sister's had to watch this Xmas special on vhs taped off tv every year... my mom absolutely loved this special. my dad used to love her though... my mom took my dad to see her a few times. He always hoped to be the one she pulled on stage to dance with her but his seats never allowed it to happen. He even wore his drill sergant uniform because my mom said she loved men in uniform haha...my mom's real love was engleburt humperdink lol
I was 10 when this aired, and I loved it!!! I just love these shows and it’s a shame that we don’t have them today. Those were the days, and I miss them. Thank you so much for the upload, it reminds me of more innocent days, when television was fun to watch. Now all I watch is RU-vid, searching for videos like this. Lots of love from Canada ❤️🇨🇦
This special is the only reason I knew who Barbara Mandrel was/is. I was 8 yrs old when this aired and my family, all being from down south, it was definitely a big deal. Crazy how things like this stick inside your memories.
I was 8 years old when this aired. Barbara was my Dad's favorite female singer. My Dad recorded it too like others have, my Dad passed away back in 2003. Thank you for uploading this memory.

Was it really 1986? Wow. I remember when this aired. I have seen it several times over the years. I guess as an 19 year old kid, I didn't realize how beautiful Barbara was. I miss variety shows like this one. My childhood was filled with them. It's sad that no one does them any more. Even if they do, there is usually some stupid agenda being pushed. Someone needs to bring them back!
Actually, the double sawing idea was first invented and performed by Channing Pollock back in 1965. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zNZqguTKdJw.html Henning, and Steinmeyer had little to do with it.
She never sang solo on the show, however a few years ago she released a single. I don’t recall the name of it, but it was on the streaming services. A patriotic song.
