This is my favorite reaction I’ve watched. You really got the movie. Being human is hard. It’s not something you have to ask permission to be. It’s something you discover you are. So deep.

Apparently production wanted to cut the scene with the old woman at the bus stop, when Barbie says, "You're so beautiful" and the old woman says, "I know it!" Greta Gerwig said, "If we cut that scene, then I don't know why we're making this movie." I think Barbie wanted to be like that woman, and that's part of why she made the decision that she did at the end.

I took my mom to see it because she grew up with dolls and Barbie was her friend. After my dad died I thought some perspective would give her … comfort and inspiration about her future. She cried and she thanked me for allowing her to be flawed and human. You don’t need permission to not be perfect. Share this movie with a mom, a sister, a friend. I’m a forty five year old man and I cried too.

This movie is so culturally important/relevant in a time when women’s rights are under attack. Every second of this film is intentional and the messaging is so layered all while being accessible, engaging and visually stunning. Greta is a genius and Margot is a gift.

Margot Robbie told the story of how John Cena ended up in the movie. Fast X just happened to be filming across the street from Barbie. Cena and Robbie ran into each other at a restaurant, and she asked him to be in the movie, and he said yes.

10:31 is the part where Barbie encounters a group of girls who are ultimately her rival franchise, the Bratz dolls. Their names are Yasmin, Cloe, Jade and Sasha. Another set of dolls, aside from Barbie, that I personally loved to play with at a young age

I saw it once with some friends, it was really cool to witness. It was the first time in a cinema where the crowd was laughing at jokes, clapping at statements and just crying unapologetically. It was really beautiful to see people of all ages and from all backgrounds to be sitting in the theatre.

I took my 7 yr-old to see it. She recently inherited a bunch of my old 80s and 90s Barbies and townhouse, cruise ship, motor home, etc. that I had been saving. She enjoyed the movie so much that she stood for the last quarter. We were at the back and the only ones in the theater, so it was fine. I laughed so much and got super emotional to the point that I cried. My daughter teased me a bit (she’s only 7), but I know when she hits her teens and older, she’ll get it. This movie is 1 of a kind, and imo, historic. It shows the flaws in any society that is dominated by one group, whether it be gender, race, creed, etc. It’s not just feminism (though it is a strong point), it’s about respecting and valuing each other. To be able to push this kind of message and still have so much fun, humor, and relatability is a feat in and of itself. Kudos to everyone who worked on this. 👏🏻🎉 And what a terrific reaction! You saw all the fun in it and felt what it wanted you to feel. Thank you!

My favorite part of the Barbie movie was seeing MY Barbie onscreen. I had a few as a kid, but was given an old one from the early/mid 70s, and I liked her because she looked different; more like me. Then they put her on the big screen, and it was such a moment. When you feel seen, but not called out.

This is one of the best reactions to the movie I've seen. This is not only my favourite movie of 2023 and not only my fav movie of the 2020s decade but one of my fav movies ever. What Was I Made For is my fav song in the film and Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig make movie magic together. Adore the messages about gender equality and being human. There's also minimal CGI with Barbyland being built practically. Sterotypical Barbie makes for a wonderfully relatable protagonist she's certainly not the same character at the end of the movie as she was at the beginning. Ken makes for a unlikely villain and you get so mad at him when he kicks Barbie out of her Dreamhouse and makes her cry. Gloria is also another standout, finally America Feerera gets work again after the How To Train Your Dragon Trilogy. I like you think this movie could go down as a classic and hold up for generations to come!

She saying “It’s Just BARBIE” just, it’s not miss, missus etc it’s just BARBIE. Now that I think abt it, women have titles and titles changed if they are single & married, and for what ??? For men to recognize who’s married and who’s not ??? Coz For Men it doesn’t change they married or not. Its just Mr. And whatever that teenage girl Spilled are Facts. BARBIE in real world became this thing for women with impossible standards. Plastic surgeries to have Barbie eyes, Barbie legs, Barbie Shape, Barbie face. And for what ??? And having that particular is the standard to look sexy/attractive…, may be ithe invention of BARBIE was for good reason but it became something really Toxic real Soon for a Girl child growing up.
@BelBelle468
@BelBelle468 11 месяцев назад
Honestly tho, while Barbie contributed to it, I don’t think Barbie did much toxicity towards women. Most women understood she was just a representation and not indicative of how women should look. It was men who created those beauty standards and insulted women for it, and likely saw Barbie as a representative of how women should look. Especially when we look at female celebrities, the ones whose looks are criticized the most and affect the culture, it’s often men who decided things. Check out why female celeb biography and it’s often men making the comments. Women also absorb those beliefs and uphold them as well. Kind of like how ppl complained about the wicked witch of the west on Sesame Street was too scary, even tho it seemed most kids didn’t care until the parents freaked out, it’s usually adults who make a big fuss. I mean Barbie was inspired by a sex doll. Those beauty standards came from men first and foremost.

@@mrflickswatches I think it’s totally fine to miss some things cuz of course you won’t get it. Some things are more personal and that’s totally fine. I think you got the general message of it and could relate to a lot of it since at the end of the day even if there’s some unique experiences, women are still human. And men are still human. So they’re going to be on the same page, even tho some sexist men like to treat women like they aren’t. And also I think Barbie and Ken represent both women and men as well. Everyone can feel represented by both.

The category, good sir, is camp. I was watching a video essay about the campiness of the Barbie movie yesterday and they noted that “camp” media tends to be all individual and unique in nature, but they all have a similar vibe which you know when you experience it. Another great example is the iconic queer movie But I’m a Cheerleader. Rocky Horror Picture Show is a historic example. Some people try to achieve camp and make cringe instead, but this movie nailed it.

You are right about the fast pace of this movie.... and unfortunately, a lot of reactors miss important lines because they feel like they have to keep talking. This isn't one of those movies you can chit chat at the camera because 5 seconds of not paying attention, you will miss key moments or some of the best jokes. You seem to have a good balance of dialogue though, while also paying attention to the movie.... that's not such an easy thing to do with a film like this. Props to you for doing a lot better with this one, than many other reactors out there.

Ken was just an accessory and never had a house or anything. In fact Ryan Gosling decided definitely to do the movie when he found a Ken left out in the mud at his house and believed his story needed to be told. Sure men and women both have societal issues to deal with but she’s talking about the struggles of WOMEN, how could she as a woman also talk about what men go through? That makes no sense

But surely you can objectively agree that it was a good speech about that character’s experience as a woman? Why take away from that?

I didn't care for this movie at all. In fact I left the theater 20 minutes before it ended. I thought it was mildly amusing at best.

And you’re watching reactions to it because….? The only acceptable reason I can think of is just to support the channel, otherwise you’d just be going around the internet leaving unnecessary comments, which I would hope people wouldn’t do.

@@bhelliom3 maybe they’re watching reactions so they understand what they missed. Sometimes other perspectives can help you see the things you were blind to. That said, OP was being kind of unnecessary. Didn’t explain why they had issues and apparently didn’t learn to appreciate it based off of this video. Either way it’s fine cuz they still contributed to Barbie’s box office.

You seem to be leaving this comment on every reaction I see though. Interesting you feel the need to comment on multiple reactions, with the exact same message, for a movie you didn't enjoy. Maybe focus a little less on it if you weren't able to grasp the message?
