I had the Working Woman Barbie and played with the CD as a kid. Her office attire would transform into a red party dress and all of the tiny items shown in the bag segment are included with the doll. She had a button in her back and a speaker in her torso which would go through phrases like: “ I have email.” “Working is great, saving money is smart” and “ I have a date with Ken tonight.” Guess who is a working woman now?
Moose you said @ 1:32:00 that you wished she would make a violent sound for each mistake you made, and I'm not sure if they removed it or I just couldn't hear but the PS2 Demo of the game I had, whenever you ran into a monkey or an elephant Barbie would make this loud "OOF." and fall backwards, and even as a kid I thought that was the funniest shit ever. Terrible controls, just awful- but hysterical.
I had that talking doll that plugged in to the computer desk thing - it was terrifying. Her cheeks were puffy because the mouth would move. You can hear the gears working when she talked
It's nice to hear someone say "I really like the graphics" about a low res game, appreciating it for what it is instead of only want the newest and best thing.
chill...? You call the lever bit CHILL?! I was dying just watching Ian play lmao- god knows I woulda broken both my PS2 controllers as a kid if this part was included on the Demo I had 😂 (and never stopped laughing at)
If that person who was asking about it (SkillfulDefenstration, I think?) hasn't found out yet, the surreal game where you walk in a straight line and make sharp turns that Ian played before is called NO THING. Ian played it a bit on the streams for Shenmue II (I think the episode title actually mentions featuring No Thing). Hope that helps! You too can be the simplest office clerk!
Children have silly life goals. When I was a child in the 90s I wanted to make games specifically for the SEGA Genesis, meaning I thought the console would still be up & kicking in the early 00s.
idk if you have it or are able to find it to play, but Barbie: Ocean discovery was my all time favorite Barbie pc game :D I'd love to see you play it someday!
I remember LOVING wizards 101 and playing it all the time until you hit and area where you have to pay to play so never played it again. (But that is surprisingly pretty far into the game)
There was a Barbie game on the GBA, Barbie as The Princess and The Pauper, packaged with The Lion King: Timon and Pumbaa for some reason. You controlled the titular ladies and their two cats. It was something my Dad's ex-girlfriend's daughter had. I remember it being actually pretty fun. There's no reason for Barbie to have bad games after all just because it's Barbie; it just needs effort put in.
This is Like if Crash and Tomb Raider was a Barbie Game. I remember Beating Barbie Explorer and Detective Barbie on PS1 Cause My Sister Needed Help lol. Have You Ever Thought About Playing Old School PC Tomb Raider Ian? That would be awesome
I remember playing the SHIT out of Barbie Explorer as a kid. I did end up finishing the whole thing, but unfortunately the ending is a real let down. You fix the mirror, it turns into a portal, you step through, fade to white. And then! Nothing! No answers! Maybe they were planning on making a sequel and it never happened? Either way, easily the greatest disappointment of my young life.
But then how would everyone say "hi future me!!!" to themselves on RU-vid when they watch the same 2 hour stream for a second time over again for some reason???
