Great video, I've wondered the same thing. Too bad I didn't see this sooner, but still very much appreciated a couple of years after you originally posted it!
I'd be interested to see you experiment with getting that really dulled-out, worn look that the old Soviet machines acquired over time. Good set of videos so far.
I feel like the difference you see on the finish is partially due to glossiness of the layer under the metallic top layer. It looks like grays you used are more matt than the black or metallic layers so the top layer reflect the light differently. ???
Curious to know how you would deal with invasion stripes or additional camouflage colors with the bare metal. Would you tackle them separately by mask them off or would you apply the additional colors atop the metallic finish?
I watched these two videos and do like what I saw. I'm wondering, I know you showed the various different brands of metallics out there but only tested the Alclad range for the most part. Not to incite a conflict, but what do you think of maybe using the Xtreme Metal - Polished Aluminum as the base, then coat with the darkened Engine Grey from Gunze or even the Nato Black from Tamiya as the marbling covered by the Alclad - Airframe Aluminum? Just curious, I know that there are endless possibilities that could be attempted. I am going to do some experimenting of my own using my idea. I'll let you know what I come up with if you are interested. I dont have a video camera to record the results, but maybe I can take some stills. Thanks for the time and your videos.
