Regardless, the "roughest stuff" as the original comment stated is not dirt roads and medium tracks, even at high altitudes. Take one of these up many of the more difficult tracks here in Victoria, and they find it more difficult than many of their competitors, due to a lack of ground clearance and wheel size/ articulation. As I said, they're good overlanders - but they are rubbish rock crawlers. This is not a bad thing: they are designed for a purpose, and they do that very well. I was countering the hyperbole of the original comment.

Active safety is overhyped. Lots of people switch them off when they can, especially lane keeping assist. There are lots of vehicles on the road that don’t have these, and are typically included in high end or higher trim vehicles only. Doesn’t make the vehicles that don’t have the unsafe, as long as they are well built and pass crash tests. The reviewer seems biased towards them. Your senses are the most important active safety sensors. Learn to use them!

Refreshingly unpretentious review when so many video reviewers seem to be pushing their own personalities at the expense of the usefulness of the car review. I don't have much vested interest in the Mahindra as we don't have the brand in the UK where I am, but I do like it!. Strikes me that the car is more flawed as a 6/7 seater than it would be as a 5 seater though, which makes me wonder why it has 3 rows of seats (is that a deal breaker in Australia?). If the 3rd row could be folded right out of the way under the floor, or be easily removed, it would probably be worth having them "just in case". But it seems that the Scorpio isn't big enough for a 3rd row, so should just have a rear bench along with a much bigger boot. The passive safety I'm in two minds about. Yes it is useful to have, but at the same time it does rather allow drivers to, not be concentrating on driving as much as they should, be knowing that the car will bail them out. Here in the UK, the Dacia brand has been criticised for a similar lack of passive safety features, and fares poorly in Euro Ncap crash tests because of this. But Dacia have deliberately done this to keep the prices low and in the event of an accident, they certainly seem to hold up fine.

Mahindra is just copy pasting India specific product to Foreign Market with out changing any thing in cars, They can add extra features for extra price, price will not be a problem in AUS or any other FM but they are not serious about the FM.

Mahindra is doing research on best safety,in India We have 33 crore gods , Mahindra will give every buyer one god ...so no need of mechanical AI ADAS. Every review i see from Australia i hear there is no ADAS, then why they love to drive, see the performance. Any non professional off roader can do off road highly comfortable and with ease. No manual off roading skills required.

Mahindra should just keep two rows and 5 people can fit easily. The middle row can have a large seat than two independent seats. Remove the third row and keep it as large boot space. The third row is literally for enemies. One of my friends bought this car and I along with another person got stuck in 3rd row and as 6 ft tall person it was not really comfortable.

I hate the side opening rear tailgate, it's a nuisance in tight spaces and usually you are in tight spaces most of the time in urban areas. Mahindra should change it to a top opening tailgate like the xuv 700.

Why do motoring journos crap on about 7 seats. The Aussies family consists of mum, dad and 1.8 kids. We had 3 kids and only ever used 6 seats, so the Scorpion is spot on. Love the captain chairs too. I owned 8 landcruisers in my time, but have stopped buying them due to Toyota greed. I would buy one of these next time around

Absolutely INCORRECT about the "diff lock" 🤦 It does NOT have an auto locking differential. What it has is a BLD (Brake Lock Differential) system which does NOT lock any differential. It just brakes the slipping wheel, and then the power goes to the other wheel. That's it. The actual differential is never locked. The Fortuner and Everest come with an electronic (not automaric) diff lock that you have to engage by pressing the diff lock button. Please reaearch a bit before making such videos.
@Drivecomau
@Drivecomau Год назад
Thanks for watching, just to clarify, Australian-delivered Scorpios are equipped with an auto-locking differential, but this unit can also operate as a brake-locking differential depending on the operating conditions. There is mechanical locking capability, however it's only auto-engaged with no driver engaged manual lock.
