In this video I test the JX6 Companion in CPM 154, designed by Chris Tanner from Preparedmind101. Get one at either of these online stores: www.knivesshipfree.com/jx6-co... www.dlttrading.com/bark-river-...
It's a perfect EDC blade - light, inconspicuous, low-maintenance, stain resistant, useful for food prep or utilitarian cutting tasks, and relatively non-threatening in polite company. And it's a jack-of-all-trades - functional in the woods, and even as a defensive option in a pinch. Hands down my favorite of Tanner's designs.
No chips or rolls. I can compare this to the A2 version that I have...the A2 version did roll a little under heavy use..cutting thick cardboard and some plastic. But after I corrected the edge i havent had issues. The CPM 154 stays sharp for longer than the A2. I def rank my blade steel in this order: CPM 3V, CPM 154, A2, 1095, S30V. those are just ones that I have. and I take into consideration how hard they are to sharpen, how long they stay sharp, and how strong they are.
+BOOSTEDLASER so far i only have one knife with s30 v, my ZT0350ts and it has been great...hair shaving sharp and I edc it almost exclusively lately. Being that its the only one i have, i cant say I have a ton of experience with it.
I gave up folders the day I got my Bark River CPM154 Bushbat I neck carry it. Few weeks ago I got the JX5 Vengeful 1 LOVE it. Favorite big knife...ever. I have White River backpacker S30V. used 3-4 times only.I convexed it (work sharp) and it is in my bug-out-bag as a lightweight backup. Was going to be my edc till I got the Bushbat. Owner of Bark River says S30v is the worst steel ever.
