@leeroy4980, yes the downside is, I wouldn't want to walk in the shoes and mess up the beautifully stenciled outsoles! @Tringshoerepairkeyshop, I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving🦃with your loved ones! ^_^
I dont know how i got here 😂 but fascinating! As a teenager in the 70's i used to get my (at the time) trendy leather soled loafers soled and heeled at my local cobblers. They always came back like new and I always wondered what magic these guys did to shoes. Think I'll subscribe 😂
Great that you show when things don't go fully to plan (eg when the shuttle jammed when stitching) - love watching someone who knows what they are doing, thank you.
Dan! it's been a while since I dropped in, and look at the size of your channel now! Fair play to you. People underestimate the work it takes to maintain a channel. Well happy for you.
You sir are a 🌟 coming from Northampton my family were in the shoe trade and seeing you rework good quality shoes back to perfect is most enjoyable, by the way I now live in Michigan USA. No good shoemakers here
I could never walk in these shoe due to the handsome artwork on the soles. I am across the pond from you and have watched many of your vids and I can't help but laugh with the Jerk Off and Hard On products. I see how you "slide it in there".....LOL
Dan you should be proud of those what a job you have done. Such a beautiful shoe now, shame they will be worn. Definitely do another for your display. Everything worked so well, all the colours and gold Toe plates go well together very clever.
I do wonder where did he get his passion from because this is quite a unique craft to master? Though does it matter haha look at me I don't know anything about shoes nor do I really care about them much but the moment he uploads I'm here to watch it, there is just something amazingly calming and relaxing about this mans videos.
He goes into it in earlier videos. Started working under a master cobbler, ended up buying his own business after learning his craft. Jobs such as this are sadly dying out as people don't fix their possessions much anymore, plus there's not many around to teach the newer generation. Hopefully Dan takes on an apprentice eventually to pass the knowledge on. Maybe he has already. It's definitely something I'd have been interested in learning as a youngster.
I never really thought too much about how my shoes were constructed, but after having watched a lot of your videos and how certain shoes are made and repaired does give me more appreication for the folks that want to put forth the effort in keeping their shoes for many years to come. I assume its mostly boots that have cork and need a sole repair since most athlethic gym / shoe wear are plastic / foam.
It's really great to see a master of old world crafts still going. Cobblers, coopers, master cabinet makers, blacksmiths. The work craftsmen accomplish is far superior.
I hope your shoulder heals without surgery! Go easy on it. My right one is tore up and I refuse surgery. At my age and healing and recovery time just isn’t for me. I tore it about 7 years ago and it continues to heal. You’re a young pup so don’t over do it while it heals. Thanks for an awesome video.
Dan, please make video on cleaning shoes like those that came in during video. Its much more style and budget of shors 😅 This could bring new people to the channel as well ;)
Up to? Just spent 2 hours conditioning and restoring a very special leather jacket. It belonged to a very good friend that I sadly lost almost 20 years ago. I used Saphir lotion and Canadian creme on your recommendation. It looks stellar! I've had it conditioned professionally through the years and it never came back looking this good. Now I know I can keep it looking great for 20 more years. Cheers!
The local chap in my Town closed down and this type of craftsmanship that used to be in every Town is not so common now. I think a young man going into this business as an apprentice will have more success in life than a University Graduate majoring in Law, a business increasingly being taken over by AI. On a side note I used to have some Italian leather soled shoes and they were a lot more slippery than British leather soled shoes. I would not like to trust Italian leather again. Good job on those fancy shoes, I think the customer ticked every option.
What a absolute lad watch your woman Dan will swipe them away I find this channel very interesting even tho I have no intrest in this type of work amazing where RU-vid lands you lol legend Dan keep it up
Great work. You are so talented. And it was nice to hear you whistling the song from Robin Hood. One of my favourite films. I may have to watch it now lol. And it should always be an all day breakfast sandwich!
@Dan, that Redbull flavor is my new favorite, overtaking the Peach & Nectarine. Also, give the Pear & Cinnamon a try if you can find it, it's not too bad.
