In this video I take a look at the stuck wheels on my wonderful Skoda 105 barnfind. They where really stuck and pulling the car with a winch did not move them one bit.. So I have to find a big hammer...
Well.. its a 35 year old new car! :P Make it or brake it.... Its quite solid at the jacking point actually.. and unlike new cars, these old cans does not weigh very much... :)
I just love this car. We had a dealership back In Derry Northern Ireland. People laughed at anyone who bought one with such choice available. Who's laughing now when rare gems like this are so sought after.
It just gets better and better with this car. I'm absolutely amazed with it. I think your right to be cautious with it, I really want to see it driving but best to wait till serviced and new exhaust fitted.
Remember the old saying " little knocks can move great rocks where bigger knocks will break them ". Told to me a by an engineer who rebuilt engines in the desert in WW2. Also I'd have an axle stand as well as the jack for safety's sake personally.
That is so true... Wise words. Yes you are right.... I never have any body parts under the car when working like this, but either way, a jack stand should have been used as well.... Noted. :)
Very usefull video ! Two things , your car don’t have orginal door handel beacause this one handel is from 1976-80 versions, and you must be cearful with the wheel bolts because they are very easy to bend and crack. As Škoda 120 L owner i must say its good to have videos like this on youtube! Greetings from poland :-))
Good going, and well done, BUT have you ever seen a car fall off a jack? If someone is under the car as you were, it doesn’t end well. Jack stands required for your own safety. Please. Les in UK
Yes I have, And I never work under a car without... In this video I was never underneath the car only next to it.... But anyway, I really should have put in jack stands incase I forgot.
Ït is running on three cylinders it seems. Maybe a good idea to have a compression test done. Mine is low on compression on cylinder three. Have to lift the head this spring.
Yes, probably. And be sure it has enough coolant and no air trapped in the system before you run it warm. You probably know how notorious these are for overheating and blowing head gaskets.
@@erlenddammen2174 No I was not aware of that reputation... But I am pretty used to it from all of my other cars ! haha... It seems as though I collect cars with overheating and headgasket issues.... Not the volvo though.... ;)
Haha. I am pretty sure that every one of these Skodas has blown one or more gaskets. The construction with cylinder sleeves makes it a little more tricky than usual to get it right.
@@erlenddammen2174 Yes its just like my Renault then... :) Hope mine just have valve or spark issues... I dont really need more engines apart at the moment haha!
@@SeasideGarage They are conical, so only a puller will release them. They come off with a big bang 😉 See you’re making progress. It’s a very warm and dry February. I’ve driven my 105 already. Tomorrow I’ll start up the 1100 MB.
