BARN FIND ŠKODA 105- What is the snow hiding?

This is the new project on Seaside Garage.
Its a Skoda 105 S (Estelle)
Its been off the road for 21 years and have not been started for ages.
Its apparently a very low mileage car and could really be a rare find!
In this video I get it to my garage, which was a big challenge due do solid locked wheels.
Then I take a proper look at this project... first real look for me, and you are coming along!
Its a real Barn find... Its been in a barn since the late 90´s and just came out of it a couple of months ago.... I pick it up in the snow on the isle of Funen.
Will it run? we will find out in the next video.

Wow, this takes me back to the 80s. As a kid I spent a lot of time in a car exactly like this - same model and colour. Even by the standards of the day, this was about as basic as it got, but it was also easily the cheapest new car you could get for several years.

To think Skoda's of this era were considered a joke that has survived amazingly well. I think many more expensive cars would have just rotted away in the same circumstances. Looking forward to seeing the restoration of it.

They did do thing quite differently, and the build quality is different, but not necessarily worse then others from the same era... I really like them... And this seems to be a real survivor..!

Superb find - I hope you enjoy it. Many years ago I had a 120LS and a 136 Rapide - I wish I had the room to keep them and regret selling them now. You might find that the "clutch" issue is actually the clutch release bearing at fault. On my 120LS the clutch release was fairly simple and mechanical and the release bearing was just an open ball race bearing. That started failing about 45,000Km and when it seized it just wore through the pressure plate spring fingers! and then no clutch! Very nice to work on because a couple of bolts removed allows you to take out the rear panel. Then don't unbolt the engine mounting point but the rear cross member bolts to the chassis, 2 bolts either side. Remove these and leave the cross member attached to the engine - this is an excellent handle to remove the engine. We once changed an engine in one on the street with just a trolley jack to wheel the engine out of the back - no hoist required. Also check carefully all the water pipes, engine in the rear and radiator and heater at the front means there is an awful lot of plumbing!!

Indeed, this Superb was a 105 find - or wait, is it the other way around.. 🤔 I sometimes get it confused when the engine is in the back. Too bad that there was no Rapid way to get it off the trailer. With all the snow, it almost looked like a Yeti. Sorry, this is getting ridiculous, I’ll see myself out..

Nice! Glad you saved this Škoda! Barum tires are the original tires. They came with these from the factory. The lunchbox is the original spare bulb box. The rubbers were used to fit the license plate so that there wasn’t any direct contact to the body of the car. Have e few of these cars myself. Good luck fixing this one! Greetings from Holland. By the way; I like all the stickers on the front windshield. You are lucky the seats are in good condition. This interior doesn’t like UV light. So the sun will damage this easily. Keep it protected from the sun 😎
