The technology may be old, but they surely knew how to make even basic household items ‘beautiful as well as practical’. The flame behind the glass in this heater was gorgeous. Another excellent transformation. Thank you.
There are two things I love about the aesthetic of this channel. The first is that there is no music at all. Just the actual sounds of work being done. And the second is every time I see his cat.
Some kitten timestamps: 1:38 Fluffy assistant jumps into action, and gets a good head rub 15:39 Avril coming back, after a long break (probably the head rubbing too good) 15:56 A little more reward for the orange fluff 17:58 In the background And a spooky timestamp: 0:51 It's alive, it's ALIVE.... the spider is alive :D Got to say, the whole thing didn't look that interesting, but once the flame is on, it become superb. No wonder even Avril had to stop a little, even if looking from behind the heater. Thanks for the video! Awesome work! God bless you!
What a great restoration. A thing of beauty...Your choice of color brings attention to the flames. I can see early 1900's families gathering around the flames during the cold seasons. You sir, have a good eye, and thanks for preserving our past. Well done. Old West Magazine...
🤗🤗🤗🤗🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏.
FINALLY! You are the first one who cares about the one direction of the screw slot. Merci, merci, merci from a female watcher from good old Germany 😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful restoration work. I wish things were still made with this type of style and design. Things are just so boring now, it's all about being functional only. But you can have function and beauty dammit 😊. Fantastic video. Thanks
beautiful restoration!...that being said, i can totally see why they don't make heaters like that anymore, it looks *dangerous af.* imagine a little baby touching it, or accidentally backing into it and tipping it over. *O_O*
Yep, Carbon Monoxide is the reason you don't want one in your home. Those lazy yellow flames are pretty to look at, but it isn't burning clean. It'll kill you
That is like those old floor furnaces with the metal grates. Just about every house I lived in until I was 12 had them. I fell on one when I was three and burned my leg. There is a picture of me floating around somewhere sitting on my new tricycle in front of the Christmas tree with those grate marks on my leg. They were dangerous. Fast forward 35 years and an elderly neighbor of mine was killed in a house fire when her floor furnace malfunctioned. I had nightmares about that for weeks. It was horrible.
Love watching your videos, thank you. Some advice I was given years ago regarding blocked injectors. Never put a pin down them. The pin you use is likely to be bigger than the hole your trying the clear and in turn will allow excess gas to flow through. Very dangerous stuff. Instead, try boiling in vinegar. Worked for me quite a few times 😊 hope it helps and looking forward to your next upload.
@@Matthias9319 I only answer intelligently when i read elevated opinions like yours... I mean gas fueled metal pipes that heat up to hundreds of degrees celsius in a living room... ...what could possibly go wrong... pfft!
I think this is my favorite so far. I'm glad you lit it after all that work. The glass looked SO freak'n cool! If I'd come across it from the start, I do not think I'd even know what it was. Excellent video, and once again, thank you.
That front flame display really did catch me by surprise. Especially nice today when they always give you a cartoon display on the mass produced junk you can buy.
i have severe ocd and am unable to do work like this. i love that i get to see this and live vicariously through each restoration. thanks for putting these videos out there
I adore your channel, it is one of the best that exist, because of the knowledge and skill all of you (3, by the looks of your hands) are demonstrating. I found it by accident, it was awesome and I keep coming back every week to see if you have something new. Everything you make is wonderful and watching you work is an experience I do not get tired of. I am also deeply in love with Avril. Thank you!
This was a brilliant transformation and I bet it was really time consuming I'm really impressed by how you manged to make it look its colour it would of been. I love watching sand blast the pieces well done. Amanda from Scotland UK
I find your shows fascinating to watch and am impressed by your skill and patience. As a chemistry teacher, your use of electrolysis and electroplating is especially interesting. One thing that puzzles me is that with some projects you use a rust remover or some other chemical or physical means to remove the rust, yet with others, you go straight to sandblasting as you did here. How do you make this determination.
11:50 Watch for cutting clips during loud audio, it'll make a really startling click like this. I find your videos super relaxing, so it might be something to keep an eye out for.
@@MrTachyon I bet they weren't illegal where you live at the time it was manufactured ! The big change is the fact that houses are not very draughty at all - no ventilation.
That was awesome!! I just saw one of these on eBay and was thinking "I wonder what it looked like when lit" so I decided to look on RU-vid and.....voila!! Now I know. How cool.
no different than wood burning stoves. both are still used all over the usa.... i have gas space heaters that still work and are used every winter. your comment is nothing but ignorant fearmongering.
@@pauleasley6488 Have you actually seen a wood burning stove? Its totally different. I grew up in a house that was heated with a wood burning stove, in Minnesota. This is totally different. There are Jet Engines inside that thing. How is that like wood? Do you see how much gas is going through that thing? There are many very good reasons they do not make these any more. The name calling went a bit far since you are clearly expressing blissful ignorance.
I worked on a farm, at the Henry Ford Museum. The stove is a coal range. The heat coming off the coal range stove is amazing. You learned quickly to be careful. I imagine children learned to be careful.. Just like we teach children to be careful now too.
@@TigerheartedWolf That's sad in itself. For how fast we made things we still somehow don't have time. Also, what happened to people having skills such as this? One person doesn't need to know them all. These skills were generally passed down and then it stopped for the most part.
@@xTashleyx I mean people have these skills. It's just that these days there's a lot else people can do too. It like you hear of certain skills that were once passed down through the generations back in the days when communities were more isolated and people didn't really leave them. Now ex-skills may only be known by the elders of these communities because the younger ones are leaving the communities, seeing the world and learning things the elders never did. Nothing wrong with it. People have to move with the world, not get stuck in time. Also, these things that are getting restored are generally things made in a time when mass production wasn't as much of a thing. And usually have been surpassed by something more modern. So really only people with the skill will want to go to the effort of restoring them.
@@Smudgie33 I don't know how you make that happen, taps don't really let you decide what degree the thread starts on. I guess a combination of luck and varying amounts of tightness
