BeeGees legend Barry Gibb chats with Lisa Wilkinson about the highs and lows of pop stardom, working with Dolly Parton, and re-releasing classic tracks.
A very humble man. At the end of the day, it's family. Friends will come, friends will go. But family remains. He could had gone solo, but family! Each brother was an important part of the success of the Gibb family.
The Bee Gees are the national anthem for the disco age. Then they went on hit after hit... so talented. Hearing them always raises my spirit and reminds me of days when life was simple. Congratulations to Barry, he really deserves it. Such a lovely, humble guy too. I feel so happy his album showed him much he is still loved, whilst he’s still with us.. His brothers will be thrilled and proud.♥️
One night as I could not fall asleep I spent time in RU-vid remembering music from the 70s. As soon as I hit the BeeGees I could not stop listening to all their songs from midnight to 4am !!! I sang along with tears in my eyes of happiness! Thanks 🙏 for this wonderful interview 🥰
Same here... I cant stop listening to the Bee Gees. I discovered them in 2021, and Im hooked forever. The Bee Gees and Andy Gibb... voice of angels, simply the best.
I would personally like to thank his wife Linda for sharing Barry 's ( Robin and Maurice) success with the world. Hats off to their wives and children.
Their early family life, I believe, gave them a tight bond that few families have these days. Even though they broke up at one point, they HAD to come back together because that bond was so strong.
I agree, and he still has that amazing charisma too. It's looks + charisma + humbleness that just makes Barry irresistible no matter the age. What a man! 🥰
No matter what Barry Gibb does, it's distinctive. Who will ever fill the void left by the Bee Gees? No matter which, they were and are, now with Barry, always taken individually, irreplaceable. Music that carries through life and far beyond. Music, unmistakable and timeless. I wholeheartedly wish Barry Gibb good health, continued joy in and with his family, and God's protection and blessings. And thank you for your music.
Thank you for this awesome interview Sir Barry! We all loved those tight pants!! 💓🔥🔥😉 and yes Robin, Maurice and Andy would love this album! BEE GEES FOREVER!! 💓💓💓💓👍👍👍
What a great interview..I've loved the Bee gees from the beginning and still do..He could sing the phone book and I would buy it..Love Greenfields..thanks for all the memories you have given me with your music..
He is amazing and they were amazing. There will never be another group or music like them again. It's so sad but I am glad I was in that era to appreciate them and still appreciate them. I never get tired of their songs or watching videos of them. They were brilliant and Barry is truly gifted.....and he was soooooo sexy.
Thank you for interviewing Barry Gibb. I have been obsessed lately with their music from all the different decades but especially the late 60s early 70s. And I also love the song "Alone" from 1997. So happy with his new album can't wait to order it and listen to it while I clean house, exercise, and just dream of greenfields!🍀
Barry Gibb, such a incredible man: talent, humble, gentle, a good husband and father,, a great human being....and he is always connected in love with his brothers.
Well I think a good looking person will be good-looking their whole life. Especially if they've eaten well. Gotten good rest, clean water, and exercise. And of course a good attitude and a happy heart💞 doesn't hurt either.
Honest to god, I'd still be happy with Barry in whatever he wants to wear now (I still find him devastatingly attractive). But yeah.. the white pants, the jeans, literally anything he wants to wear, as long as it's Barry! The thirst is real! 😄🥰
In another video, where they are singing 'Too Much Heaven' (wearing silver outfits, and the light on their hair makes it appear as purple hair) all 3 had on tight pants. As is said in my neck-of-the-neighborhood, "No shame in their game." The cameras showed them from the waist up through the entire video.
There is only one God who sent his son Christ Jesus to die for us and raised him up on the 3rd day. Believe in him and listen to his word and we will have eternal life 😊. I know its hard for many to believe for many but its true. Gods grace is a free gift so that no man may boast. Barry Gibb does have an amazing voice tho lol. Love you Penny.
Such a talented man. Yes, "SNF" was a wonderful success. However their overall body of work is an endless well of so many wonderful ballads & mid-tempo songs. My fave is "Baby As You Turn Away". Terribly sad that the Brothers are no longer, all taken far too young. But their body of work is with us today and always. We have the brilliant Barry who still is a musical genius. It's a really lovely testimonial to his character and to his wife, as they celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary They've been through an entire lifetime together - good times & bad. Isn't that us what it all about? That's a gift that so few get to enjoy and I'm happy for them. He has the perspective that family is first. Seems like a really lovely man, besides a being a wizard when it comes to writing music that lasts.
G - Please do not forget that Barry wasn't the only songwriter. If his perspective is family first, he better acknowledge Robin and Maurice as cowriters and occasionally the sole writers of many of their big hits not to mention amazing musicians, arrangers and singers. I'm afraid they are being forgotten. That being said, IMO there is no way some of Robin's amazing vocals can ever or should ever be reinterpreted by anyone. His voice was one of a kind and no one can do some of his songs justice.
Yes I thought when I bought the main course album and heard baby as you turn away why on earth did they not release it as a single. Surely it would have been a big hit. But then i have thought that about many of their lesser known songs. They were all totally amazing.
I baby sat for one of their albums 50 cents and hour and 75 cents after midnight lol LOVE their music what an era we did live in some fabulous times and great music 50 years later
Talk about tight pants ,the video fir Stayin Alive ……..ohhhhhh myyyyyy goooooddddd ,I had all of their albums on vinyl ,I’m so glad he’s singing again , know how hard it was for him after he lost Andy ,but after Maurice and a Robin i remember an interview with him after they had passed ,he was crying saying that when they died they ‘ weren’t getting on’ .great interview.
This is the stress relief ever because when the Bee Gees are the True Legendary in Music Industry because super amazing and very talented as well. RIP Andy, Maurice and Robin are the true legacy because you are always forever in my heart. Stay strong Sir Barry, God will never give up your career. God bless you more. Sending the love and greetings from the Philippines. 😇🙏😍❤
While I adore Barry, he's the only celebrity I've ever had a crush on I would never buy an album of others doing Bee Gees songs. If I want to hear those songs I'll listen to the originals.
I never liked others doing the BeeGees work, just never sits right with me, to be honest I only bought the album because of " Butterfly". After listening to some of their older interviews where they said they feel honoured when other artists sing their songs, I am ok with it now, although it never sounds as good to me as the originals.
C L. I understand your point. When I heard that this album was being cut, I was absolutely sure this was not something I would own. No one can touch the Bee Gees or their sound or their genius. I heard several songs on RU-vid that was on the album and it took my breath away. At least give it a listen you might be surprised. Everyone loves Dolly's and Barry's version of Words, and I do too, however no one can really sing Words except for Barry.
Great interview! Yes we love the white pants, glad someone acknowledged that. And we love the humor and tha music but especially we love Barry!!! Tour 2024 please

I’ve loved the BeeGees for over 55+ years (Waitaminit! How’d THAT happen?!🤣) when I heard these incredible voices on the school bus radio singing about a mining disaster?!?! Whaaaat? Through all their incarnations, impossibly white teeth, spray-painted on satin pants, perfect shag haircut-yes, Barry, I’m talking to you🤣-their music has stood the test of time. It is as listenable (and danceable, need I say (today 2023) as it was in ‘67. I was recently at a wedding where the 24 yr old couple left the church to “You Should Be Dancin’” and their first dance was to “Too Much Heaven”. There was a lot of Bee Gee’s music throughout the night, and I later asked them why they liked that particular music so much? They both said their grandparents (bride’s now in their early NINETIES) and groom’s (in their late EIGHTIES) loved The Bee Gees and played it when they were raising their families, who then played it for their kids. The Bride said when she wants to clean the house or get a big project, The Bee Gees are heavy on her Pandora playlist. Amazing! 3 generations! I played the SNF soundtrack for my 5 yr old great gran niece, and my great grand nephew aged 2. They were rocking out running around the yard--at the end of the evening, my sister said, “We’ve been listening to The Bee Gees ALL day!” Easy to do. Thanks for all the wonderful music and memories!
One behalf of millions of woman in the 70s, thank you for thanking Barry for those tight pants. You spoke for all of us….LOL! Even now, all these years later, we still remember that. Husbands be damed! Ha! Here in the U.S. men looked at that Farrah Fawcett poster for years. We women looked at Barry in those white pants……8-). Egads he was sexy!!!!!!!!!
I am madly in love with Barry Gibb I have always been all my life I told my daddy at 5 years old I'm going to marry him one day Linda beat me to it I would have had a lovely life with Barry Gibb if I could do anything I'd love to meet him maybe sing a bar or two with him of his song How can You mend a broken Heart when I was five he was on the Ed Sullivan Show singing this song he'll always be the only man in my dreams I was 17 when Saturday Night Fever came out and I got Barry Gibb fever and I've never found anything to take the fever away he still lives in my heart just like yesterday dancing singing like the song said You should Be dancing yeah... I can see him again would be marvelest thing in life for me to meet Barry Gibb.. love him more than ever I'm 60 .lol 😂 he still got that charming smile 😁 I love so much . This makes me happy to know he's continuing to song's an remake's. Beautifully done I must say .. I love you Barry Gibb
In the pop world there are Superstars and Megastars. The Bee Gees in 1977 onwards made it to Megastars.Only The Bee Gees and The Beatles have ever made it to Megastars.
@carmen Morales~really? I don’t recall Tabloids posting photos or articles. Of course a lot of water has run past. He was very fortunate it didn’t affect his voice. I believe that even if Barry’s voice sounds like a rusty nail, it would probably not deter his fans. Their music was the soundtrack of my youth. Blessings to the Gibbs.
