@@Presley3 LMAO sure...You may be all alone on that one buddy, I don't even think Emmitt would be on your band wagon on that thought. Hell I'm a die hard Eagles fan so we faced Emmitt enough for me to speak freely on him. Barry was on another level period. I'll give Emmitt his credit he was a great back without a doubt but he isn't on everyone's top 5 while Barry is either 1, 2 or 3 on everyone's list.
I live in Australia, took an interest in NFL when Jarryd Hayne went to 49ers and decided I needed to learn more about this game, well after 2yrs of looking at it I think its the best physical game being played in this world. Barry Sanders is my favourite RB I like Emmitt Thurman Mr Brown, Peyton I like Bo there are so many really good RBacks, but only one Barry. LOVE THE GAME
Barry Sanders.. The Pete Maravich of football. Both were the absolute epitome and pinnacle of creativity, skill and imagination in their respective sports!
Not a fan of this comparison. I'm not all that familiar with Pete...but was he not known for being a selfish player? Barry was a great teammate and wanted to win more than any personal goals.
I think one of the biggest things people fail to notice when they watch Sanders run, he never lowered his shoulder or helmet to initiate contact. Even when he ran into a pile of defenders, he was always looking for that tiny crease or extra block that could help him find daylight. That's why it seems so amazing when you see him escape what looked like should've been a sure tackle, where a lesser rb would accept he is going to get tackled and lower his shoulder. Barry proved time and again that you can gain more yards avoiding tacklers than trying to run through them. Just watch these highlights, you will not see him try and truck a single guy. And its not like he wouldnt have been able to if he tried. Barry had incredible agility and amazing strength for his stature, which is why he was able to juke and break tackles. But he always kept a level head so he could look ahead and watch the play develop, even on plays right up the gut. That was what separated him from others, his vision and relentless pursuit for any kind of leverage that can help him avoid defenders.
Well, it didn't happen often, but sometimes he would find himself in a situation where there wasn't an option but to try to run a defender over, and occasionally he did. He ran low and had very strong legs. There's a few examples on here.
At 21.07 that was the greatest run I have ever seen I remember watching the game on TV they literally stopped the game and replayed it several times he made 10 people miss for a 8 yard gain. There was no one like barry in any sport he is the most exciting athlete in the history of all sports and that includes Jordan, bonds, James, woods, greksky, Montana all of them
If you ever forget how great Barry Sanders was, or doubt what you saw for 10 seasons was as amazing as you remember, come back and watch this video. He was even better than you remember. I still get chills when I watch him run. It's truly sad that no one gave Sanders son a chance.
At 21:07 he cloaks himself in blackhole deep matrix time-shift mode and disappears into a 10 yard inter-galactic wormhole then quickly re-appears on the other side for a mind-blowing first down!
Yes this a a very good part 1 and Part 2 of Barry Sanders. People only re run the runs we all have seen. But most of Barrys more exciting runs is when he does not get a HUGE gane but when you makes like 8 people miss and gains one yard. The guy announcing is wrong when he says Barry makes 1 or 2 great plays a game. Totally wrong, I had season Tickets to Lions games and Saw Barry live. Almost EVERY run was a big deal even the ones for 2 yard loss. He would do amazing things just to get to the line of scrimmage. Even if the lions lost Barry was worth the price of admission. I've not see ANY runner including Walter Peyton (saw him live many times) that raised the hair on your skin like Sanders could. He as like a Magician on the field. Never knew what his next great trick was going to be but as soon as you take your eyes off him he Breaks a big one. I was at the Colts game where he did that huge run for a TD you see in vids. It was my turn to get the beer and guess what as soon as I go to get it he breaks a big one. I was in that endzone where he scored.
goblin072 I've been going back and forth for the last 2 days with a diehard Cowboys/Emmitt Smith fan . I said that Emmitt Smith was a well above average RB whom given the opportunity with a great offense could get the maximum out of his abilities . I tried to show him that Emmitt was at his best from 91-95 stats wise. These were the years the Cowboys were really good . From 96-00 Dallas teams weren't as great as the past teams and Emmitt's numbers went down . I explained to him that no matter what the circumstances were with the Lions that Barry's productivity was still great. Indirectly he tried making every little case in Emmitt's favor while trying to undermine Barry's ability . He talked about Emmitt's division he played in was tougher to Barry played in a spread offense to Barry's backups average was higher than Emmitt's backups and list went on and on . I told that dude no disrespect to the greats , but when it came down to running that football Barry Sanders had no equal .
The best RB I have ever watched play. I never was a Detroit Lions fan. I’ve been fortune to grow up watching all time greats (Walter Peyton, Emmitt Smith & several others) become legends but still there is only one Barry Sanders
I'm a niner fan and always will be. But Barry Sanders will always be my favorite player hands down, no show boating or any of that shit we see nowadays, pure class act, gotta really respect that! That's why i think he was so. Successful just really HUMBLE
This is the best highlight film I have ever seen! Most show running through a big hole for 50+ yards. Some of his best runs were for 10 yards or less!!! Great job!
Dude! You are the man for uploading! Thanks a lot!! I'm one of the biggest fans around and an avid collector of his vids but there are a lot of highlights here I've never seen before including some incredible runs in the Probowl games! WOW~! That one run at 7:08 against the colts where he spins and cuts back the other way for 25+ yard TD... I've only seen that from the one game angle so it's fantastic to see it from another perspective. He was truly a freak of nature and by far the G.O.A.T!
I felt bad when he was talking about reaching the Super Bowl. That sorry ass Detroit team unfortunately would never help him get there. Him and Marino DESERVE a ring
Facts.....Barry was the greatest i wish he could of got a ring.........but i also feel that Thurman Thomas, Terrell Owens and Randy Moss Deserve a Ring 2.........
God bless 🙌 🙏 ❤ 💖 ✨ you ❤ 🙏 brother 🙏 you are a super 👌 👍 😍 🥰 gentleman 👏 in sports when you were playing ▶️ no body can tell but is going to happen in the next play 😀 we have a all the love respect for you and your family 👪 mom dad they did a great job raising you and the rest of your brothers and sisters to me everything starts with good 👍 parents 😀 God bless 🙌 you ❤ live long long happy healthy life many many years to come ✋ 💖 ❤ 😀
something in the water back then....you could watch Barry, Emmit, Neon Deion, list is long. I think Air Jordan had a huge effect on what athletes thought could be possible. but really watching all the great highlights after the first few times and I calm down cause these guys were amazing, I HAVE to point out the great blocking by their teammates. and in the secondary, guys not caught watching throwing the pick up blocks WOW! that's what it takes for these highlight reels. ONE THING THOUGH I DIDNT REMEMBER BARRY BEING THAT DANG FAST. the dead leg jukes and the superhuman lateral movement yeah....but he clearly had the speed to run away from the pros downfield. I guess that's just an obvious statement. thanks for the upload
That was Wayne Fontes that started taking him out. You know why? Barry hurt his knee and was out 5 games. That scared the crap out of fontes not having Barry. When Barry practiced he would yell "Don't touch barry, meaning do not lay big hits on him" When Sanders came back from the injury he was never used on the goal line again. It was out of fear of losing him to hits. But he did not get hurt on a goal line run so it made no sense. Blame the coach, it had nothing to do with Barrys production on the line it was done out of fear.
Yeah he hurt his knee on Thanksgiving against the Bears in 93. Missed the rest of the regular season, came back and had 170+ yards in the epic home playoff loss to the Packers.
Gang gang. Brotha JSN threw some classic *say Talib or Taleb Kweeeli* with Hi-Tek on this joint. Yes, "Reflection Eternal" is a great choice of soundtrack, for this eternally great player.
he could make a 10 yard loss exciting as fuck.. this guy was great.. dream team rb barry sanders, wr jerry rice, line man fridge, qb maybe montanna.. feel free to add yours.. im showing the men i grew up with as a kid. LOL. barry you rocked.
Look at 21:06 to 21:17. There is no RB in NFL history who has ever run like that. Not one. Barry Sanders is the gold standard by which every other running back is measured.
Barry Sanders.. A snake charmer, a gun-slinger, a magician, a belly dancer, a prima ballerina, a wizard, a card shark, a contortionist, a pool hustler, an escape artist, a tightrope walker, an illusionist. No one ever before as good, no one since as good, no one ever will be as good!
He actually got faster in his later years. He mentioned one time in an interview that they were catching him in the open field on long runs on occasion. I think like after 93 or 94 he changed his diet and no one could catch him because whatever he was eating gave him more strength in his legs. It’s amazing what we put in our bodies and how much it affects our physicality.
The man averaged 1500+yd and 11 tds a year... with an off 10td season. He got tackled within 5yds close to 20 more times. He made Corey Schlesinger's(sp?) career.
There are defenders out there missing 2 and 3 tackles at him all in one play. I mean these are the cream of the crop top athletes of the whole nation he’s doing this to. Crazy.
I rented a SEARS PORTABLE TV SO I COULD DRIVE OUTSIDE THE 100 MILE BACKOUT TO SEE SANDERS PLAY . I TAKE IT BACK THE NEXT DAY .for next time they have a 100 mile blackout m
What's funny is that you see some of these clips wear the lions are playing an away game and you can hear the opposing fans go nuts when he does his thing.
As a former dl I hated playing against backs the size of sanders, they would be gone before you could see them from behind those big hogs and then it was tough to just snatch them down
I've been recording and gathering footage since I was about 10 or 11 years old...................I always wanted to make highlight videos since I was young...............
+Jsn Walker well that's good. I see you recorded a lot of NFL primetime footage with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson and just NFL films stuff in general. I know that takes a lot to compile edit and put together. Only recommendation I have is to leave out the music with the highlights if there's commentary....like from Boom and Tom. I like the songs but it's difficult to hear them. I can't believe you have that many plays of Emmitt either. It's nuts! I grew up watching these guys. Please put together what you can of Devin Hester and Lawrence Taylor or another ddddmpgtm beast. I know the pre ESPN era stuff is harder. You got some of most exciting players of all time and the videos are great to watch. Thank you!
Jsn Walker Barry was unique and may we not witness nothing like him in our lifetime again . I just wished I could've watched him work in person . It probably was like nothing you've ever seen . I wish the 49ers could've signed him if the Lions decided to let him go before he retired . Barry Sanders always had respect on his name from me. Lol
No man wants to be made a fool of, especially a grown man. Even worse is if you are a pro at your job and someone makes you look like small boy. I'm watching this video and I see high paid million dollar defenders just falling down without tackles. All that money and their only job is to tackle and they can't do it. Not only can't they tackle him, they look like small child, they just fall down and hope they get an A for effort.
That's why he is the greatest......he is the only man i seen that could run that way for 10 yrs and have all the defenders looking foolish......he didn't even lose his speed when he got older it seemed like he even got faster......
@@mobomba6206 I'll give you that. Simpson ran for those yards in weather. Sanders was indoors at least half the time. But Sanders just looked so good busting those runs.
Whoever uploaded this, its one of the best Barry Sanders highlight reels that truly shows his greatness' but you completely ruined it with the gangstah interlude audios you threw in the middle
Some dude talking about how great Barry was so I did some research on the selfish bum only concerned with his stats and highlights .............These are the 6 playoff games Barry Sanders played in, and they all were on grass which explains the poor numbers for people to be talking about "He The Greatest Ever" and he only play good in domes like Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison... 12 attempts for 69 yards and 1 touchdowns for one game, 11 attempts for 44 yards and zero tds, 20 attempts for 169 and zero tds, 13 attempts for -1 yards and zero tds, 10 attempts for 40 yards and zero tds, 18 attempts for 65 yards and zero tds... In 6 playoff games he only had 1 touchdowns and game with over 100 yards... Barry playoff record is 1-5 also... And how are these idiots go say he better than Walter, Emmitt, Roger, Marshawn or Frank Gore with a -1 yards rushing and lost the game... Running backs have bad days where the defensive line is doing a great job and only get 20-50 yards but never -1... That -1 prove my point about Barry Sanders career that he dancing around in the backfield thinking about being on ESPN highlights that night instead of focusing on his job, which is not making the quarterbacks and WRs jobs more difficult by having so much ground they need in order to get a first down... #49erEmpire
GoldenAgeSquaresoft And Barry a -1 yard bum lol... Choking loser with 99% of his highlights in domes vs bad teams... I'm a 49er fan who live in Chicago so I saw Stephen Curry in a lions uniform 5 or 8 times a year his whole career... Choker, choker, choker... #49erEmpire
While its hard to argue that he isn't one of the best...I just cant call him the best. He quit at the prime of his career. Numbers matter, Championships matter, Longevity matters...Emmitt Smith has the numbers, years and Championships. Walter Payton has them as well..They were better...don't get me wrong Barry was beastly...just my two cents.
I respect your opinion........but I got to say my 2 cents as well...............good teams win championships.......Emmitt and Walter had better teams.......both of them had hall of fame players that played with them.......Barry had none........Their stats can't compare to Barry's stats because if you put Emmitt and Walter Payton stats next to Barry's for a 10 year period they aren't better.....Emmitt played 15 and Walter played 13 seasons..............Barry more than likely would of broke Payton's record in 11 seasons.......Barry could have had 3 more rushing titles (he chose to sit out the rest of the game in the rookie season and not go for it when he needed less than 20 yards). In 1991 when Emmitt won the title Barry played one less game then Emmitt and still was only 16 yards short of the rushing title.........1993 he was leading the league in rushing by more than 200 yards before he got hurt and he missed the last five games........Barry average more yards a carry........got the record for 50 yard runs.......and got the record for consecutive 100 yard games with 14..........Finally, take Emmitt and Walter's best season or best two seasons and put it next to Barry's best two season's. Emmitt and Walter's best season isn't even better than Barry's second best season when he ran for 1,883 yards in 1994 (and did I mention Barry ran for 2,053 yards in 1997 after running for 53 yards in the first 2 games of that season.........he ran for 2000 yards in 14 games.... (AMAZING!!!!!!BARRY IS THE GREATEST RUNNING BACK OF ALL TIME PERIOD!!!!!!)...........
:)...I hear you...I just always felt like his career was shadowed by the fact he quit. I agree with most of what you said but he should of finished the job. Unfortunately he did play for the Lions...the only team I know of that made two of the best players at their positions quit with plenty left in the tank.
I agree he should have finished the job.................the 3 major disappointments for me in sports when i was young were.........Magic Johnson retiring because of HIV........Deion leaving the 49ers to go to the Cowboys.........and Barry Sanders retiring early.......smh.....
I used to be angry that he quit. But as i grew older and realized just how shitty the organization he played for was, i changed my mind. 1 playoff game in over 60 years. Think about that. And just for a few minutes accept that Barry was the Goat. And look how that organization preformed with the best running back of all time for 10 YEARS. Barry didn't fail the lions. The LIONS failed Barry. I'm glad old man ford kicked the bucket. With this new gm and new coach i actually have hope for something to happen in my lifetime.
