Arum is a doily syndicate bigot. And it's necessary to use code words, because the syndicate's privilege is so incredible, that THEY can use racial slurs, but they are protected from rebuttal.
Over the decades Bob Arum and Don King have nearly ruined boxing. I think it's a joke Mayweather is the top draw in boxing. I'd rather watch reruns of Hearns, Hagler, and Leonard than him.
Bas should have launched into a rant about the skinhead insult. "Sho you call me a shkinhead? Well up here, der hair no longer growsh, sho I have no choice. I'm a shkinhead becaushe my mamma made me thish way!"
And he doesn't mind using false racial slurs to make his point! But he's a Jewish Democrat who endorsed Hillary Clinton, so it's pretty much par for the course!
Boxing is not dying it's actually coming in spades this year, mega fights just a few months away. And manliness aside, standing 8 counts are more technical and to me more pleasing than the MMA varient, which is more dynamic and exciting I'll admit, because when you get dropped and take a standing 8 count you now have to adjust and adapt, strategically figure out how to avoid whatever punch it was and however it was set up. MMA you see guys smell blood get reckless, and plenty of fights are
they got championship by winning against the champs... that there is racist fans doesn't matter on who wins! lol! it's not like you call in and vote for your favorite! lmao
Thanks. Yeah, Ive been doing Sanda, Boxing, and Muay Thai for about 12 years combined. Also did some Kali and a bit of wrestling but never stuck with it. Whats your real name so I can look up some of your training videos or bouts?
Boxing IS a martial art. So is wrestling. A boxer is just someone really good with their hands, so it's like if the mixed martial artists trained nothing but punching. But they have to train all things because it's a real fight instead of a punching match where anything goes, so they can't focus solely on punches and have to dedicate time to other aspects of fighting.
...another frustrated boxer that has no balls to step into MMA ring. this is for real men, kid. You stay there, protected by 1000 rules, bobing and weaving like a mental patient.
ardelean ion I thought boxers were the ones who step into the ring. MMa fighters use the cage or octagon. I dont know shit but Manny Pacquiao looked pretty good against an undefeated boxer/ex kickboxer the other night, actually, he beat his ass.
dempsey did wrestling and judo as well. the problem is how MMA is perceived. MMA is a combat sport that an athlete can possibly make a successful transition to if they have experience in combat sports. succesful MMA fighters can be kickboxers, wrestlers, boxers, judo and jiu jitsu guys, muay thai etc. succesful MMA fighters at the top have had some kind of background in a specific art. so yes, boxers can be succesful at MMA, but it depends on the individual if they can make the transition
The dude on the left is looking into the camera like "Whoa Bas, I'm not sure I wanted to be here for this." Bas wasn't pulling any punches here either lol
Don't listen to the guy saying it's because of the gloves. It's actually because MMA fighters don't have as good defence up top because thats not the only thing they are worrying about.
If you had actually paid attention, they said the difference was more or less negligible. They also went about the experiment wrong: 1 trial per glove? And they call themselves scientists? They need multiple trials per glove and average them out to be taken seriously. Boxing gloves make it easier to hit someone with full force in the head because they are larger, whereas if you use knuckles or MMA gloves, it is easier to miss.
I can't believe a man that is involved with a sport where half the fighters have criminal records, fight fixing is rampant and is crawling with organized crime would make such a ludicrous statement.
MMGAY fighters don't take flush shots to the chin, either. Actually, any scraping shot to any part of the cranium is almost certainly going to leave them in a truly dazed state.
Im white,an understand Arum is Jewish. Im a Boxing fan too. But Arum did not say anything racist. He said FACTS. You can’t lump everybody into the same boat.. But the sports do have different fans, and most white boys my age like MMA better. Who cares if he called them skinheads? Them boys want to see fighters who look like them. An generally speaking,a lot of American whites are “too good” for Boxing. Truth hurts
Find me a single fight where a boxer managed to NOT get taken down in a few seconds, except the Silvia fight. As I have said before, even while he was a champion no one had much respect for Silvia. Toney on the other hand had much respect and was an excellent boxer AND he actually prepeared for that MMA fight, and he still got taken down by an older fighter. Street, ring or cage, the boxer is getting taken down before he connect to the chin, and then its over.
He refused to fight Margarito, fought an already ancient Dela Hoya, and Mosley may have been champion, but belts don't mean anything these days. He was way past his prime back in 2000. Besides, if you think that Floyd didn't duck Manny, then why the hell did he push for a flat fee for PPV earnings? No one would agree to that and he knows that.
he means that a low skilled mma fighter would lose from a high skilled boxer and a low skilled boxer would lose from a high skilled mma fighter.. it's all about skills not about legs or arms
Actually the reason they ended up getting into a fight is because a bouncer was threatening them with a baseball bat. Everyone but you knows Frye was drunk, the only reason you don't want to admit it is because it would crush your boxing fantasy. It's not like Don Frye was unconscious, the dude was still moving forward & got held back. It's not like James Toney who quit & was crying in the octagon!
I wouldn't even disgrace MMA's top fighters by putting them in the same room with a boxer. I'm confident undercard MMA fighters would wipe the floor with the best boxers in the world.
I got to clarify those numbers cuz i dont believe that. Bernard Hopkins vs Jene Pascal drew 1.8mil. The Friday Night Fights last year averaged about 500,000-600,000 and the people that were fightin werent household names for the most part. Haye vs Klit in germany alone had 16mil watching it. UFC averages 1.3 buys and mostly under that number. May-Pac will have 5 mil buys alone in the USA
Boxing is about 100 years old, MMA is a mix of ancient and new fighting styles. If anything MMA is the more true fighting style, one must be good at a lot of disciplines to be a good MMA fighter. A boxer only needs to learn 3 things first, fast hands, second quick reflexes, third foot placement to lead in punches. MMA requires all that and how to grapple on to the ground, how to defend a tackle, clinch control, submission game. That is just basic MMA as well. To the laymen it seem like two dudes rolling on the ground hugging, but when one adds a modicum of prior knowledge when viewing these dudes, or past experience, you learn that it is just as fascination as any straight of fist-to-cuffs brawl.
please you want to know the truth about mma its just muay thai and jujitsu thats it two fighting styles thats about it .its not diverse there is no mastery too it .its just dirty boxing
***** how did couture beat him ? let me guess take down locked him up ? theres nothing old about mma its essentially kick boxing and ju jitsu .99% of all fights ive seen the fighters will use the same moves side kicks and hooks and jabs and when they dont work they spear them to the ground goldberg style and try and get them into a arm lock or somthing . lets not make a mountain out of a mole hill .mma was made a few years back theres nothing ancient about it there is no such thing as a master of mma because its not a real martial art like say kung fu is .a real martial art takes years to master thats why martial arts is so old and ancient .by it being compared to some ancient fighting style is just cheapening the culture it derived from .mma is something some stoner thought up at the last moment lets throw kick boxing and jujitsu together and call it mixed martial art . mma derives from backyard boxing its dirty boxing you can use kicks and grapples that's all it is .
***** do your research dude dont listen to guys like dana white and bas ruten , mma isn't a real martial art most martial arts have roots in self defense mma is for the sport aspect of it .the mixed just means there are mixed sport fighting styles i wouldn't bank on mma too save my life in a life or death situation on any day neither should you .stop drinking that koolaide and.quit listening to people who will get you killed in a real life fight.real martial arts teach self defense in street real life situations a mma teacher cant and doesnt teach you that .rules dont apply to a real fight
I do boxing myself, but i like watching mma fights too (especially live). I think people should stop all that mma vs boxing talks. Its like comparing soccer vs basketball. Some people like boxing and some people like mma and some people like both...
If I was Jose Aldo I wouldn't risk it. As confident as Jose is with his stand up, Floyd has been training nearly his entire life to thrown punches. While I'm sure Jose could punish him with leg kicks, Mayweather could easily knock Jose out with one punch. The longer it stays standing, the more time Mayweather has to land that one punch.
Ray Mercer proved you wrong, the thing is, a boxer needs to land first or else he's fucked in mma, so he has about 8/10 chance of winning in the cage but on the flip side of that, an mma fighter could NEVER step in with a pro boxer of decent skill and win, they'd get their ass kicked into next week. Mma guys simply don't have the power or striking/evasive skills to last with a complete striker in his element.
Well I don't think any street fight is fair, but that's not the point. You are correct though. If a boxer fights an MMA fighter within MMA's rules or just outside in general, he is going to have a bad time. But boxer's compete in Boxing. They don't do boxing so they can win street fights. They box because they like boxing.
+Johnny Kaldani It's the opinion of a highly regarded sports individual. Pretty sure you should speak up to such defamatory claims as this guy is making. Either that or like you say, just roll over and take the bs lying down.
Ok.What's your take on the fight between veterans Rich Franklin and Cung Le. Many are saying Rich has the advantage bcos he's dropped a weight class down to middleweight.
BOB IS RIGHT IN THE SENSE THAT MMA HASN'T SEEN THE LEVEL OF TALENT THAT BOXING HAS..(FLOYD MAYWEATHER, PACQUIAO, OTHERS) HOWEVER, MMA IS ALSO A RELATIVELY NEW SPORT..WHERE AS BOXING HAS BEEN AROUND FOR OVER 100 YEARS. EVENTUALLY MMA WILL SEE THE KIND OF TALENT, AND SUPERSTARS RISE TO THE TOP..JUST LIKE BOXING HAD..AND WE ARE BEGINNING TO SEE THIS NOW. THE SKILL LEVEL IN MMA HAS BARELY EVEN TOUCHED THE SURFACE OF HOW GREAT IT WILL BE.
Rutten's comment is right on: too bad his English is not so great ('lets make something more stupid'). It does help if you're calling someone else stupid.
Jiu Jitsu: Originated in Japan and was later recreated in Brazil to be Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Judo: Also originated in Japan from Japanese Jiu Jitsu Muay Thai: originated in Thailand of course Wrestling: can be traced to Roman, Egyptian, French, and many other culture that always tend to be white.
"A very limited counter puncher". Have you seen Anderson Silva at his prime the way he counter punches? It's basically identical to Roy Jones. If you put Roy Jones and Anderson Silva at there primes in the ring, Roy Jones would win, but Silva would put up a hell of a fight. Now, if you put them in the Octagon, Roy Jones wouldn't last through the first round. Silva even said himself that Roy Jones is a big influence to him. That's why he would like to fight him.
Tim Sylvia was the former HW champion of ufc and James Toney is a shell of what he used to be and also a shell of what a boxer vs mma fighter should look like. Watch Sonny Westbrook amateur boxer vs Don Frye legend mma fighter and in the street an amateur boxer dropped an mma legend. Shit happens.
Sorry, but MMGAY doesn't work like that. The only time you'll ever see a boxer fighting an MMGAY guy is when he's old, out of shape and can no longer make a decent purse in his own sport. Besides, a glass jaw (as is all too prominent in MMGAY) is no place for a street fight. Completely different setting where a glass jawed grappler wouldn't be comfortable.
Yes, but to be fair James Tony didn't box with an MMA fighter he got in an MMA fight with a legendary wrestler. If James Toney and Randy Couture got in a boxing match Toney would have most likely won.
3cont. finally, bjj players in mma rarely blitz in like a wrestler (except gracie). it's the wrestler who is more aggressive with takedowns because HE HAS TO CLOSE the distance to create his 'magic'...as all other sports difference is when a wrestler closes the distance it ends in a transition to positioning. when a striker closes the distance it could be LIGHTS OUT! or if a bjj player closes distance it could be the beginning of the end. you simply can't depend on wrestling
Dos Santos, cause I have seen Mir get dropped and Junior is disciplined enough that if he rocks Mir he won't go to the ground with him so Mir can win on instincts.
Why is boxing dying? It has been shown to be one dimensional. Everyone that has ever fought for their life knows the shortcomings of boxing alone. MMA is just much more realistic.
I agree with buddys comment down there about how boxing is more exiting but mma fighters are the more dangerous human beings. However in respect to mma I will say this, some of the best mma fights could rival some of the best boxing fights easily. I do prefer a ring defiantly over a cage. Pride fc was far more exiting than the ufc
Please, don't listen to Bob Arum and think everyone involved in Boxing thinks this way. Bob Arum has been ruining boxing for quite awhile and he is just upset that MMA is eclipsing Boxing more and more everyday. Comparing Boxing and MMA is literally the stupidest thing you can possibly do and anyone that does makes whichever sport they support look bad. They are two different sports. You either like them or you don't.
the best statement ever. "his dying sport". I grew up hating boxing. I always wanted to see something more. I appreciate the sport but if it is dying then I cannot blame it. All the fake ass hype, crooked decisions, enforced trash talk, pre-fight scuffles and all the circus bullshit that comes with boxing can die with the brutality of the sport. I will say the same thing about MMA if it goes that way and after watching the bisping vs sonnen fight I can honestly say it felt rigged.
