haha, maybe. However, in a tournament situation where you need to weigh or measure the length, this one wouldn't have counted. I just wish the fish I lost were small bass and not these bigger ones...of course, isn't every bass we lose a 6lber!
Another great video Jeremy! Your videos are great for basic instructional purposes and have helped me (beginner fisherman) tremendously. I would like to suggest a topic for another video. Could you possibly do a video on basic electronic use. I know you did a panfish video the other day, it would be wonderful if you could show us what the panfish look like on your electronics. Also like this one it would be wonderful to see how you spotted bass in shallow water. Questions: When your fishing the chatter bait do you bounce it on the bottom, fish it through the grass/weeds, or above the grass/weed line? What tackle vest are you using? Thanks again for all of your videos!
Wow, thanks!!! I'm just about to upload a crappie fishing video, but I didn't show how I spot them on my electronics, so I'll keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks for the suggestion! As for the chatterbait, I normally will use a medium retrieve speed to try and keep it off the bottom and in the middle of the water column. That's how I caught all the fish in this video. The first one I caught casting across the end of a point, the second one I caught casting parallel along the side of the point and the remaining ones I caught (and the two I lost at the end of the video) I was fishing in and around some weed growth. When fishing around weeds, I tell people if you are not cleaning weeds off your chatterbait every other cast, you're not fishing in the right location! Check the video description and you'll see I liste the tackle I used. I try and do this for all my videos. Thanks!!!!!
Early May most of the water temps should be above 50 degrees, so bass will be more active and shallow. Moving baits will start working better this that time of year so chatterbaits, cranks, swimbaits, spinners, etc.. should work well along with your standard TX rigged soft plastics, jigs, drop shots and wacky rigged senkos. Some locations the top water bite will start up so buzzbaits, whopper ploppers, frogs and walking lures early in the AM and as the sun is going down in the PM should start working well too. Hope this helps!
I use the Gambler Digital Culling scale and really like it. Here's my video review of the scale: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0n93OPKgN_o.html
I'm jealous. I went out there for the first time but didn't get any bass; just light bites. I tried to rent a boat but the rangers were too lazy so they made up all these excuses not to rent it out. it be helpful if I have a boat and electronics too.
Sucks to hear about the rangers not getting you a boat. This is a good time of year to catch them from the banks @ Quincy too. As you can see, most of the fish I caught in this video would have been easily reached from the bank.
