The new Subpac X1 has a delivery delay of one year. It took me too long now that I actually want to make my own mobile "DIY Subpac". But I haven't found a suitable backpack yet. In the next few days I will first add bass to my gaming chair according to your instructions. :)

OH WOW! I was really considering buying one but went with D.I.Y. Glad I did now, that's ridiculous. I have thought about making a wearable version, I did find someone on youtube how mounted some into a camelback riding backpack with a powerbank and made their own wearable unit.

I've got one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3EizToliiQM.html Main thing for the chair is to route a second output through a different soundcard, can be onboard or a USB dongle. Once you understand the in and out of audio it can be a super powerful tool 🎶

mad concept, I feel you could add another 2 on the back of the chair to get some more immersion however it would ruin the aesthetics of the chair
@camshand
@camshand 2 года назад
I did think of it but the two are enough man! I added a plug to it recently so now it's super easy to connect to the desk. Was playing PUBG yesterday and whenever a plane flew over my whole chair was rumbling, so good
@jimdaly5310
@jimdaly5310 3 года назад
It looks like you hooked them transducers in parallel and not series, my understanding is that these have to be in series. Just wanted to know why you wired it that way or did I miss something?
@camshand
@camshand 3 года назад
May be confusing given heat shrink and routing but they're in parallel as both have positive from the same cable and negative going out to the same with not one into the other. You can use them like Normal speakers in any config, depending on how you wire them the impedance will change causing the RMS load to be increased or decreased so best to use an online speaker calculator like I linked in the description
@danielekirylo
@danielekirylo 3 года назад
Nice video. Do you think it would make sense to have one on the back and one on the base of the chair? Or should they go on the same board? thanks.
@camshand
@camshand 3 года назад
Hey mate, for sure! If you can get one on the back of the chair go for it. My chair has built in lumbar support so I didn't want to pull off the upholstery then try and not interfere with it. I have seen others though mount to the back, as this is where the SubPac S2 is intended to be placed. For my method it's non destructive to the chair and it does rumble throughout the whole frame so did the job for me :)

I'm not really that into DIY but if I got it right your setup is mono, not stereo right? Cuz I see the + and - wires going out of the 2 bass shakers and merging into one + and one - wires, right? Is it purely for convenience reasons or stereo bass shakers on a chair dont do much and it's just better to keep them mono?
@camshand
@camshand Год назад
Yeah mono like most subwoofer setups. So in voicemeeter banana I can set mono out on the signal so it merges left and right together, that way the mono amp can drive all transducers the same. Stereo could make for an interesting effect though!
@likeyou3317
@likeyou3317 Год назад
@@camshand I'm getting myself something similar to nobsound mini (mozos m01g) so I will test how 2 shakers behave in stereo. Wondering if I should bother with additional woodplank between the seat and the metal rigging, or just mount it straight under the seat. Prolly it will decrease the vibrations in the back rest and increase in the seat... will see. Thanks for the video and the answers!

Had not heard of this one ... hmmm Wearing against Back only is not ideal + the price ? Yikes. Woojer maybe ? any reviews on those ? Nice job for sure ... Ideal is a chair pad with 6 - 8 devices. I did find the Simracing Studio version but that is $430.
@camshand

Yeah Woojer don't have a chair version but building transducers into your chair also don't affect its ergonomics

Is there a reason why you don’t use a Bluetooth receiver of some sort to cut down on wires? I would think a Bluetooth receiver and a rechargeable battery pack used for scooters might cut all wires completely except for recharging.
@camshand
@camshand 2 года назад
Two issues I didn't want to deal with. 1. Bluetooth Latency, you'd need a low latency transmitter and receiver, something with modern aptx low latency encoding, about $80 to ad them. 2. Battery pack is costly too for the potential Amp draw, it for sure can be done, I've seen some others do it, but I was happy with the cable to keep it cheapish. I have fixed the cable issue though 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-491jHC9vLns.html

what if you add a bluetooth module to make it wireless?
@camshand
@camshand 3 года назад
Awesome idea! I have thought of this, and looked into low latency transmitters and receivers, the only thing is trying to setup a battery supply. However I do have a potential future project planned with a wearable version to use with standing VR so may see bluetooth in that
@LibertineJake

Hey I have a question, does the wattage of the pucks and the amp have to match? If so, would the wattage of the amp need to match the two pucks combined? Thanks
@camshand
@camshand 2 года назад
Generally you want more power in your amp than speakers. I believe I put speaker calculators linked in the description as the impedance of each pick and depending if they're wired in series or parallel will change what amp power you need. I only run mine at about 50% and the pucks start to vibrate so much they're 'clipping' so they don't use all the power I have in the mini amp

@xevious2501
@xevious2501 2 года назад
well your initial error was not conneting the shakers to the chair, you mounted them to a plank of wood. AKA vibration DIFFUSER!!!! wood is soft in comparison to metal, so your loosing vibration strength by mounting to wood instead of a *solid* piece of metal. then directly fully attaching (likely by way of drilling screws into the metal plate of the chair. which in its tight connection (of which you absolutely did not have the first time around) youd then get full vibration throughout the chair.
@camshand
@camshand 2 года назад
First time around I was trying to limit any destruction to my brand new $750 chair 😅 I see your point, wood will absorb vibrations. My Wood sandwich method was the easiest way I could find to attach without damaging the integrity of the frame. I've seen many Sim Racing use cases for transducers mount with wood, it's plenty good enough for this job.

@9duckman9
@9duckman9 3 года назад
If you don't have DIY skills (like me), you can just screw them to a MDF board. I think you can see my ad-hoc attempt if you look at my profile. It's rough but works well and shakes my ass off due to direct contact. I put a piece of foam between the speaker and me.
@bigskill80
@bigskill80 2 года назад
For gaming are you running any specific software in order to reproduce the sound/vibration? Like for fsims apparently there are payware option to feel the planes better. ALso for sim racing.... thx
@camshand
@camshand 2 года назад
I'm not, I know you can for specific simulation games as that's a better experience. But I play typical AAA titles, so COD etc does fine with guns and grenades shaking the chair and adding to immersion. Also, I'm releasing a video tomorrow night in this chair again too so check that one out 👍
@bigskill80
@bigskill80 2 года назад
@@camshand oh that's cool, so basically running as a normal speaker just all with bass. Probably should work for flight sim as well, some software cost quite a bit for specific games.... looking forward for your new video

Hello! I am just getting into home theater audio, but am moving to an apartment :/. Do you think the vibrations would bother neighbors? Seems like a potential subwoofer replacement
@camshand
@camshand 2 года назад
Yes, this is quite common. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-njS9eLd1qMo.html There are also packs I've seen online with a low latency wireless transmitter for between the home theatre amp and the transducer amp so you can get the signal down the back to your couches

You could do it by extending a mount like plywood or metal bravkets beyond the front of the base mounts. It'd be too thick to sandwich between like I did

Aura Interactor rumble vest from 1994... And people going to pay $350+ for the same idea today?
@camshand
@camshand 3 года назад
yeap that's the future Ken haha. I did see so many product from the 90's when I was researching transducers, especially around use with Simulators. Seems the SubPac products push for accuracy for use with mixing music, and the other brands use low latency Bluetooth so some minor improvements over the age old tech. I do think there should be some cheaper options out there though! Might have to build my own D.I.Y. wearable backpack version with a powerbank to use with VR.
@Eunostos
@Eunostos 3 года назад
The same idea, but the implementation is night and day. Source: I got an interactor (which feels exactly like a child's toy with weak audio) from ebay for the collection and have a Bhaptics vest. The number and quality of the drivers along with the software more than justifies the price difference. Edit: Also.. $100 in 1994 vs $350 now with significantly more packed in... is the exact opposite of the point you were trying to make :p
