Nice reaction for this great song. I hope live version will be these from Honda stage :). And you are right in your comments. She originally wrote this as a kid and her original inspiration (as i understand) was not about romantic (more adult) relationship, but more about relationship/approval between her peers in school. But the message is universal and fits very well to more adult relationships. Some quotes: Aurora explained to The 405: "It's a reminder of how important it is to not give yourself away for anyone else's love. Way too many people tend to stay in relationships where they go through verbal and physical abuse. It's a huge issue that needs awareness." In a BBC Radio 1 interview she said: "We sometimes go too far for the approval and love of someone else, when we should really just learn to love ourselves and that should be enough." "When I was 9 I wrote most of this song. I watched someone brave and kind not demanding the respect and love they deserved. Growing up, I realized these things happen all around us. And we need to learn to be kind to ourselves and demand to be treated right. We all have the chance to climb up the ladder."

she was around nine years old as she start to write this song. thanks for your reaction. if you do the honda live version, i would suggest the whole concert (especially the first song [which is 'black water lilies']). the concert is pretty short.

Yes, she has said that she doesn't want to make anybody sad with writing and singing about important, sad things, so, most of the sad songs either have a nice upbeat or a comment in the lyrics that are uplifting "I had to turn around and walk away, I couldn't stay" at the end of the song for example.
