I like to be a bit careful about height around trees. If I clip one near the fence line I could very well end up in the neighbors yard, or in the warmer months in the neighbors pool. As much as they all know I fly I do try to respect their spaces.

My analog version was starting to get a little wonky - I thought it was just the props lol I wish they removed the SPI ELRS completely and didn't seemingly sprinkle it in on some listings but I guess they gotta use up their boards 🤷

I do sometimes put together crash reels on a particular quad, but haven't looked at making a "top 10 crashes" sort of thing. It actually pretty tedious and time consuming. Unfortunately due to hard drive storage I have to clear most flight video files after the review. HD video is super bulky to keep around, plus the review video file.

I presonally like the bassline more. The crux3 three inch props "feels" larger without much of a flight performance improvement, but does generally give us more flight time. Seems the choice has a lot to do with the primary flying space.

If I understand correctly, overtightening the stack presses the motor plugs onto the carbon which transfers vibration to the gyro? Wouldn't soldering the motor wires direct and getting rid of the plugs fix this?

only if the board is held up from the carbon fiber. Not really an option in a review as I see that is a fundamental change of the product vs how others would receive it.

I stink at being able to describe that move. I just do it from time to time. I suppose we use pitch back, roll and yaw in the direction of the "around the tree", then pitch forward to come out of it.

@@NickBurnsFPV Got WS and HDZero (Goggles not here yet) but for micros i tend to like HDZero more, my backyard is small and the low latency helps me to crash not as often. That’s a difference that is not so obvious when flying 5“ freestyle in open fields.

what's your opinion on performance with the baseline vs the flywoo nano baby, I'm looking at both for my next quad, the only advantage i can see is the flywoo flight time seems to be longer, what's your thoughts.

I think the bassline is the better option as it flies better if we get the HD option, the frame is more durable, and the camera angle is adjustable.

Hey Nick, been flying my Bassline for about a month now and I love it. Only recently Iv been getting the wobbly oscillating noise when hard accelerating. Iv tried loosing/ tightening the screws. Is their a sweet spot for the screws to be tight that I need to find? What do you think?

@@NickBurnsFPV Update: After playing with the screws some more I changed 2 props. The same two that had been changed just before the flutter started. Problem solved. Moral is for anyone. Even though you just put on new props not all of them are perfect. If you have a weird flutter ect swap out for another new prop 👍🏼

@@ChrisCroft77 ah okay. I would go with the same motors as the bassline, or drop the kv down to 10000 for a touch more flight time, but the overall flight feel won't change much. The happymodel motors are very light and efficient, if we would like a second motor manufacturer option maybe look at the geprc motor or t-motor, they tend to be somewhat less efficient but more durable.

I don't suggest anyone update betaflight unless you have done it before and know what your doing. That is the #1 way quads go from flying to not flying.

open prop will always perform better than prop protected. Air resistance is something the components have to overcome.

Hi Nick, I was waiting for this video so much, I just built myself a WS 2inch with flywoo frame and 1102 13500kv motors and it is so wobly. I thought it was lack of power Interesting to see it is happening to the bassline 1103. I'll check my screws. Would you share the final tune that did it for you?

I had this same issue on an x12 board with a sub250 nanofly20 frame. I never got it solved I tried too many different configurations and ended up lifing a motor pad on the board...

I understand that you are a fan of tks rocket race, so this is as close as it gets as a bnf. But a couple years back sailflyx(2.5”) and babytooth(3”) light quads were the fad as alight, high perf quads. I never owned one of these but with these light digital systems I would think that those platforms would be perfect. I normally fly either 4” or 3” freestyle quads that are around 250g or slightly heavier quads. During the winter 65mm whoops. I am looking for a 100g quad that is safer than these 250g quads but also can do proper power loops and good with thrust to weight ratio. In that sense, wouldn’t a 3” toothpick do better? Is the issue with the toothpicks the oscillations? I saw that in Shutterbug’s hd zero toothpick at full throttle he has some jello or shuddering. Is this why you prefer this 2” 1102/1103 motor combo? It seems like you also had a bunch of oscillation issues with this quad as well.

@@shoecrew8485 For me there is a large difference in agility from a 2inch to 3inch. And the mental aspect of flying something that is, in the hand, significantly bigger. 3inch can be more capable of bigger punches/thrust just the nature of a larger prop. The sailfly and those that run the same prop are more sensitive to weight, adding the hd components will likely change the performance noticeably. The sailfly had a camera and vtx all in one which was okay at the time but fairly low power and poor image quality.

I guess if you just add soft spacer on both sides of the board you will not longer loose your nuts, lock-tight could also help. The reason you are loosing them with your shown configuration is possibly that the little space you left is enough to give the nut little times where there is not pressure against them (simulate this by pressing against the stack on one screw from the top; the nut of that screw will be easily turnable. So they become loose fairly quickly I guess.

Interesting it died. It took me about 3 days and dozens of flights to sort out the oscillations on the heavier batteries.

@@NickBurnsFPV similar situation for me. I tried fixing the 100% throttle oscillations for 2 days and about 15 - 20 flights. on the last flight I set the motor output to 75 which improved it a lot but it just died mid air.

Unfortunately I can' answer that question. It does seem randome which FC we get but there might be a way asking the reseller in the notes to send the version with a particular FC, but also the reseller might not be able to identify without opening the box and plugging in the quad to a computer which they might not do. I say the last bit as the FC isn't identified on the box.

pids are stock that come with the quad. They full betaflight dump including PIDS are available on the happymodel.cn website.

Man, kinda bummed they keep sending out the Walksnail version to reviewers. Would really prefer if they sent out the HDZero version to folks too, as that's the one I'm more interested in. I do not care for the latency of Walksnail at all, and the way the image degrades, much much prefer how it is with HDZ, everything is so fluid. Nice drone otherwise though, thanks for the review Nick!

I agree that those 1103 motors add too much weight and are much less efficient than the ex1102 13500kv on 2s, 2" builds like this.

@@lievenvv Should do, they're 50% bigger, but I guess the main advantage would be better responsiveness. I have 1103 on my Meteor 85 Pro and to be honest, they feel underpowered with a heavier prop, I use biblades mostly and sometimes triblades but with the stock quadblades, it wasn't very responsive. Similar weight and kv (50g dry, 10,000kv).

@@nikotttin Oh, OK. I've had BetaFPV 0802, 1102, and 1103, and I've been very happy with allof them (but you need to be careful with the kv- lower kv ones have bushings, not bearings at both ends of the shaft). maybe I just got good samples.

yea, I thought it was appropriate to include that bit and have a bit of fun. yes, they iterate quickly which gives us building options, but when a bnf quad comes with 1 of 2 options that can create purchase confusion or problems.
