What's fear? Barely being able to breathe from having a 200 pound man dressed as a bat standing on your chest or a 5 ton tank threatening to crush your skull at any moment?
200s not that much, lol. All the pressure comes from his heavy ass batsuit that probably weighs an extra 10-15 because of the armor and gadgets and, thick steel heavy boots.
@@dweetsauce8513 I know all the Arkham games say 210 but let's be real the batsuit itself probably adds a good 30-40 lbs not including his arsenal of gadgets. I'd say his regular batsuit weight is around 240 and w/ the armored suit it would be around 260-270 lbs
Conroy said that he got to flex some psychological muscles for this script that he doesn't get to often. And you can hear it, too. It's pretty amazing. I wonder if Hamill felt the same way...
Twocoolman115 Especially fitting for that situation, I'd say. Also, it was a bad idea for that guy to taunt him about Barbara. I wouldn't be surprised if he was quite tempted to break his code right there...
What really gives me chills is the sound of the batmobile’s engine revving. Imagine how loud it is up-close under its tires. Scary stuff. Especially at 1:33
@@highlander6573 Imagine the psychological trauma and possibly brain damage the poor man suffered. And them he casually chats up Alfred, too. Scary scene.
This is honestly one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a game. Playing through this scene I was like "Damn, Batman knows fully how easily the Batmobile could kill that guy but he's doing it anyway"
He's also got Joker fighting for control too. Batman's far from fucking around in Arkham Knight and much more violent compared to the other Arkham games.
@Usuario cualquiera I would have liked to see Conroy give his best shot at a Joker-like performance rather than have Mark Hamil dubbing over Batman's mouth.
"NORTH! NORTH REFRIGERATION!" You really could hear the terror in his voice, I loved this scene, most badass part of the whole game. Imo, Knight is just as good as City. Both are fucking fantastic games.
Andrés Pétur Axelsson personally I think knight had better gameplay and a better open world and better voice acting. While city had a better story, better characterization.
city has so much originality. The idea of making a super-prison for criminal's in a part of Gotham city for the plot was genius. The plot twist was done in a smart way no matter how many hints it gave for it. Not to mention it had one of the greatest endings in all of gaming. Knight just made batman look bad based on a sense of irresponsibility. He just jumped to conclusions thinking Jason died when he should've at least looked for his body. Knight also didn't stay true to some of the source material like Jason Todd's death and the crippling of Barbra Gordon. Also the idea of batman fighting an army of soldiers is just silly. Also who the hell thought it was a good idea to make the batmobile go on rooftops? Can't you just use the batplane? The good things about knight were improving the combat system, made batman look a hell of a lot scarier, made a good open world environment, and gave so much emotion.
@@shadowboy2818 In my opinion, Knight handled Jason's origins much better than Under The Red Hood. As much as I love the Al Ghuls and the Lazarus pits, the whole Superboy Prime punching paradise and sending waves which revived Jason was just too stupid for my taste. Jason being alive the entire time, just held in an abandoned wing at Arkham for a year, tortured by the Joker and the other inmates was just more visceral and added more gravity to Jason's hate for Bruce. And I'm a huge Jason Todd/Red Hood fan and read most of the stories and my opinion still stands
That transition from being absolutely pissed to completely calm is one of the things I love about Kevin Conroy’s Batman. “ “WHAT’S IT CALLED?!” “NORTH!!! NORTH REFRIGERATION!!” “Thank you.” Arguably his best performance throughout the entire series
It's because he isn't actually angry It's a tool in his toolset. I'd wager no matter the scenario (except for a few more serious ones)Batman's heart rate is never above resting
This is my favorite part to where you get to press r2 and you get to hear the engine and it seems like you're about to run his head over I know it's evil but 😂😂😂😂
Batman: "Alfred I need you to look up everything you know on North Refrigeration." Alfred: "Of course sir. May I ask why?" Batman: "Because our AC is shit."
That's why I love Batman. He doesn't kill but that's his ONE rule. Maiming, brutalizing, torturing, and even crippling criminals are things he's willing to do to get the job done. If it was at all easy to resist torture in interrogations we wouldn't need to train people in doing it. That, and if people were more willing to suffer through the pain than just having it all end then suicide would likely be far less prominent as it is.
Exactly. I mean, people think Batman isn't scary because he doesn't kill people, but think about it - he's an expert in pushing people to the breaking point without letting them die. He knows how to make you suffer and shit your pants, and he can keep this up for as long as he likes, because you don't get the sweet escape of death. Like right here, he keeps his target on the BRINK of death, just one inch from getting crushed, and then doesn't. Repeatedly. And he faces a lot of villains and their minions who are cultists and madmen, willing to die for their cause - but death is not what he offers them. What he threatens them with is much, much worse.
Like you said. Being killed by Batman would actually be considered mercy lol. You would rather have a fast death instead of getting your bones crushed by Batman
Keon K. Agreed. As much as I like Batman, we have to face the fact that we're "real" and he's not. Not killing is noble in some ways, but downright stupid in others.
He may not kill people, but he’s a professional in many different forms of fighting, and above all, he knows better than most that there are infinite things far scarier than death. Fear is his tool.
This is why Batman is known as a demon to criminals. He inflicts suffering comparable to a fate worse than death. Since there will always be survivors, they will spread the tales of Batman's ruthlessness to others, thereby spreading his fearsome reputation even further. In a way, Batman is like a school bully but on a more complex scale; he uses fear to get what he wants without resorting to truly lethal tactics.
@@JugaJuga14 He IS a hero because he had the willpower to pull himself out of despair and make a positive difference in life. Don't forget, he once felt dead on the inside after watching his parents die at the hands of a mugger as a child. Most children would go insane (Batman is arguably insane already) or become hateful and twisted enough to hurt the world even more than it hurt them.
@@JugaJuga14 Yeah well, the guy he's scaring in this video is trained by one of his long time enemies and his dead son who came back from the dead to kill him so you're wronger than wrong.
This was in my opinion, Conroy’s best moment as Batman. Typically he portrays Batman as very calm and collected (which he is) but here you can feel the rage and impatience in his voice. Phenomenal
Ah what a stupid and useless character. Everything has bat signs. I dare him to come to me and show me his strengtdhdhdjdndnzskskkkdndns ko isjdjndndnndn
Honestly, there's no one that comes to mind that could ever be as skilled in interrogation as Batman. Well, except maybe Punisher. And Ghost Rider. Occasionally Superman.
Thing with Punisher, he doesn't care if you die. In fact, depending on the version he relishes in it. I believe one of his torture methods was knocking someone out, disemboweling and hanging their guts around them on a tree, and then waking them up.
First time I saw this I really thought Batman was gonna kill this guy. He quietly summoned the car and rolled it onto his neck and never said a word until he revved the engine. Terrifying
@NoobTuber"very rarely do they give him plot armor" he has plot armor all the time. He manages to beat up h7ndreds of criminals without killing them even when that's impossible, and he can take beatings that would kill anyone several times over. In this game alone he takes on an entire army and wins without ever killing.
@This Is What Awesome Looks Like it depends on which version of Superman your referring to. Believe it or not, not every version of Superman is OP. I really don’t like him that much either but the only reason people hate on him is because of death battle. Before screw attack mashed all the supermen into one people actually didn’t have a problem with him. Also what is your definition of OP because I’ve heard a lot. Plus Superman does have good stories if people bother to actually look and not hop on the bandwagon.
no shit. i regret not playing this game sooner, because when i got to this part i actually felt fear from Batman. the voice delivery and his actions fucking sell this scene as why you do not fuck with him
What's scary is that he immediately went for this type of interrogation, he didn't say anything like "you have one chance before I blah blah blah" he was that pissed over Barbara
Oh he can. Remember, his rule is that he can't KILL you. And he didn't. He knew exactly how much pressure to apply to make the man feel the squeeze on his skull, make him fear, over and over, that his skull is going to break, feel the squish right down to his brain - and then stop. Stop right there, at the cusp of dying, and make it STAY there. THIS is why people fear Batman. Not just because of his symbolism or that he's effective at defeating criminals, but because he knows how to break you. Even if you don't fear death, because he knows exactly how far he can hurt you without letting you die.
In this scene you could tell that Batman is fed up with criminals. The entire east coast is going to be covered in toxin and they aren't cooperating, obviously he is going to be super aggressive.
@@the_game_of_eli4709 But I would also agree that at this point, he is definitely fed up with the system. I mean, he wages a never-ending war on crime that has left one ward "dead", the other crippled, and the justice system has been nothing but a revolving door for criminals and supervillains.
Imagine how horrifying that whole convo is one moment your on top of the world and the next your suddenly on the ground in the dead of night and a man in black has a car pushed just enough to apply a deafening amount of pressure to your right ear he’s demanding tone only adding onto the fear factor you tell him what he wants to hear and it still seems not enough as his rev car roars in frustration and then once he’s done with you a somewhat gentle thank you is all you hear before you get knocked out and once you awake you are awoke realizing at every moment your life was just banging on deaths door with a passion Trauma is undeniable here
1:55 *guy: THAT'S ALL I KNOW!* batman: oops my finger slipped lol guy: *"JESUS CHRIST ILL TELL YOU MORE JUST STOP!!"* batman: you bitch i believed you for a second
This Batmobile is by far my top favorite. Forget the two-in-one that is the Tumbler, this one can strafe, has a pop-up turret, and is just more badass in my opinion, plus, those tires are HUGE, no one would want to piss you off driving down the road when your tires can eat the other cars.
