Batman Forever - Deleted Scene: Secret of the Batcave (Remastered) 

Hey Guys, Its been a while since I’ve made a Batman Forever related video. I was thinking of editing the whole opening of the film based on the original screenplay. Starting from the Arkham scene, meeting Nygma for the first time, and then leading up to Bruce seeing the signal and suiting up and heading to the bank scene. Thumbs up if you’d like to see that. After seeing this I kinda feel bad for Joel Schumacher. He wanted to make a legit Batman movie, but the studio was like no we want you to make a toy commercial!😔

You know there's probably some creature artiest who spent a lot of time making that giant bat and was pissed that they didn't use it in the final cut.

This would explain the scene that the Riddler saw in Bruce Wayne's mind....

Batman Forever is a decent film but this scene alone would have made it ten times better.

I really like this scene, the huge bat represents his ultimate fear. It looks so menacing, but when he's no longer afraid he embraces it and it's as if the two are becoming one.

why would you delete the scene that explains the entire point of batman's character arc, this something you have to keep.

Joel Schumacher's Empire Strikes Back

This is The most well acted batman/bruce Wayne scene by an actor incredible performance by kilmer The eyes The paine The émotion everything is There

Honestly, for me this is one of the best scenes from all of the 4 movies. Really, really should not have been cut.

Can't believe this scene ended up on the cutting room floor. This would have been the best scene in the film, and it's not in the final cut. I enjoyed Batman Forever, but I'm glad Warner Brothers' studio interference and obsession with making the series "toyetic" backfired on them when they did Batman and Robin. Shame we still haven't got, and probably won't get, an official Director's Cut for this film yet.

Other than the giant bat looking dated even by 1995 standards, I love this scene. Hopefully, WB will put it back in the film someday, along with Two-Face's escape.

for a haunting memory I've repressed for most of my life, I sure got over it pretty quickly.

WHY DID THEY TAKE THIS SCENE OUT, HOLY FUCK THAT WAS INTENSE

If a bat monster that huge flew up to me my heart would explode from the fear.

This feels like a spiritual experience, like he's coming face to face with the Holy Ghost, who, instead of appearing as a being of light, arrives like a hideous gargoyle, cloaked in darkness and tragedy, forcing this man to face his fear, to devote his life to crushing evil. Just great stuff.

I just realized batman forever and batman v superman both used giant bats in both there films

Love it. Such a great and epic scene, why it was cut maybe we'll never know. But I never interpreted it as there being some giant bat in the cave..but it being a projection of Bruce's mind and subconscious. A symbol reminding him of who and what he is. As a child yes he did fall in that cave and saw a bat but due to his young age, emotional state of mind at the time and fear he saw this winged creature as a gigantic monster, which embedded him his mind exactly what he would become...Batman.

The reason this didn't make the cut was because the studio wanted their Batman movies to be as kid friendly as possible following the parental backlash caused by Batman Returns. Joel Schumacher, despite being an otherwise solid director, is a total corporate yes-man, so he just did whatever he was told. I do have to admit, the Man-Bat thing probably would've scared me as a kid... For about a minute, and then I'd get over it. Still too much for the studio retards who wanted to sell all those Batman Happy Meal mugs.

For people saying it's man bat, no it's not it's Bruce's inner demon and the bat is never there it's in Bruce's sub conscious even though man bat was hiding in the cave a lot in the comics

Thank you for taking the time and effort to edit and assemble this deleted scene. It adds some more depth and dimension into Bruce Wayne's inner struggle and his final acceptance of embracing the Batman role, and his responsibilities, willingly.

honestly, this is an incredible scene

Even though this scene is rather frightful, I do understand it. Seeing that giant bat helped Bruce realize that Batman was a part of him. That he was more than just a guy in a costume doing good deeds. He was a crime fighter, a hero and a mystery all in one. Also, like a bat… he is terrifying to some and yet fascinating to others.

Jack/The Joker brought some horrible fear and trauma to the surface for Bruce when he killed his parents in the first film...then to top it all off, he has to live with the guilt that even though he avenged his parents death, he also has to live the rest of his life knowing “he took a life.” Very symbolic indeed considering the bat cave and the dark surroundings turned him insane leading to his duality as “Batman”. Joker always knew how to push the right buttons...I’d lose my sanity too. In his mind, the only way he could find any shred of peace within himself now is to embrace the new “dark gritty traumatic” side of his personality that Joker planted in him, and that’s embracing being Batman. Chase understood this...Vale and Selina did not.

Honestly the scene serves as the perfect translation for this Bruce going from brutal vigilante to the hero Gotham deserves I wish this was kept

In the comics, Bane is born in a prison and is forced to stay in solitary confinement in awful conditions. He meditates and meditates while his in there for over 10 years when his fears finally manifest into a giant bat. He kills the giant bat with a sword. I wished the Nolan take showed Bane's vision. This reminded me of that but kinda the opposite.

Oh my gooood. This has always been and will forever be my favorite Batman movie, no matter what other Batman movies exist or will be made. And you just showed me footage I've never seen before, thanks man!

This reminds me a lot of the cave scene from Empire Strikes Back.

It reminds me of when Luke visited the cave in The Empire Strikes back. I think it was a great scene part of it should be in the movie.

Imagine Michael Keaton doing this scene as part of Tim Burton's third film... like this could've been one of Scarecrow's fear gas nightmare illusions.

Every time I watch the movie I pause it at the right moment to watch this deleted scene because it shouldn't have been cut out. It shows Bruce is running away from his fear his whole life & is now embracing his fear right there, choosing to be Batman Forever. You know the meaning for the title of the movie

Batman Forever was a great film, but there was a couple of deleted scenes that should've been kept in like this one and Two-Face's escape from Arkham intro.

OMG, i had already saw the original raw footage version of this but your remastered version gave me chills (especially with the soundtrack). If the scene was a little bit longer with some extra more footage, that would have look so epic in the movie...

Also the way he says "I'm Batman" at the end with that smile makes it look like Val Kilmer was really satisfied how he delivered that line so he decided to say it again! I know that's not the case but I can't unsee it! XD

I honestly think, this scene along with the dark two-face escape from Arkham was deliberately cut because of fear that Warner Bros. would have had a hissy fit over how dark it is. Basically in case all the whiny parents gave it shit like they did with Batman returns.

Seriously, had these deleted scenes been in the final cut, I guarantee the reception to this film would have been a lot higher. I wanna know who the clueless higher-ups at WB were that trimmed these scenes out. Schumacher has talked about for years of releasing a directors cut of Batman Forever, and if we can get people to speak out about Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League, then surely we can do the same for Schumacher's cut of Batman Forever.

They kept a clip of this scene in the trailer. Imagine you're a HUGE Batman fan, you see THIS on the big screen in the Coming Attractions (and/or Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" music video), you suspect it's either Man-Bat or the Bat that inspired Bruce to be Batman, but either way your eyes widen. So eventually, you're ecstatic and go see it. There's a scene where Bruce explains the Giant Bat to Chase, you see a shot of it flying closer to the camera and you go, "Oh, okay, so it's the Inspiration Bat", you're EAGERLY waiting for this scene to come on...then when Batman defeats the Riddler, you see Nygma shrieking at the top of his lungs to...what is obviously the same scene of the Giant Bat approaching. You still hope it shows at the end of the movie. Not even a strand of hair. Finally, the movie ends. You walk out, heavily disappointed and heartbroken that this Giant Bat rarely appears. 10 years go by, and you get the DVD. You find this in the deleted scenes. The Bat is impressive for its time, but it isn't really that impactful. Finally, you watch THIS on RU-vid. THERE'S that impacting moment that was missing all those years ago. I may not have been the first part, but when I see this on RU-vid... YOU MAKE IT ALL THE MORE HARD-HITTING!

i seriously dont get this... why would they build up ALL this in the final cut... he tells the girl throughout the movie, about his repressed memories of a "red book i found the night of my fathers funeral" he tells her about how it made him cry, but he doesnt remember why, about a large THING coming at him and him falling over but not rememebering what it is... he blames himself for his parents death that night..... and it never goes anywhere... his repressed memories get talked about... but never gets resolved... he never learns about any of this by the end of it...and because of it... he still blames himself... and everything he said about his memories, become literally POINTLESS with no resolve... just another filler scene.... sad because this scene in a way could have SAVED this movie's credibility.... if only because the stuff they DID leave in would be that much more meaningful

We deserve the Schumacher Cut of this movie. Alot of people including me are begging for it to get released. If it's as good as we have heard then this movie is by far the best of the Burton/Schumacher films

Rick Baker who is best known for the creature effects of movies like, schlock, american werewolf in London, Harry and the Hendersons, gremlins 2, Ed wood, men in black, the Grinch (2000) and planet of the apes (2001) built this Giant animatronic bat. Even though, this was cut from the movie because of a rewrite in the storyline, I can totally imagine how baker felt that this didn't make it into the movie.

They really should’ve kept this scene in the movie to be honest with ya. It looks glorifying and it gives more depth through on why Bruce Wayne became Batman in the first place 🖤 At least the Giant Bat can still seen in the flashback scene in the finished film, also it looks very much like Man-Bat to me. I do hope Warner Bros. does release the director’s cut version of ‘Batman Forever’ someday so we can finally see what Joel Schumacher’s intended dark version was for the film. I read he really wanted to make a darker Batman film, but was forced by Warner Bros. to make this and ‘Batman & Robin’ too cheesy, family friendly and look like toy adverts even the 60s Batman show all for stupid merchandising reasons, then he would go on to receive unfair criticism by fans over them for years until his death. x As Warner Bros. has released the Snyder Cut of ‘Justice League’ they should release the Schumacher Cut of ‘Batman Forever’ too #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut R.I.P. WHY THEY DELETED SCENE THIS MOVIE ?????? I found incredible how (after all I am Brazilian, moreover no Brazilian saw this shocking scene) made it look as good as the Giant Bat (which reminds me of Batman comics) appeared in this film? (Technically, I do not know if he even had a real appearance in a Batman movie). For I found it very good this scene. Joel Shucmacher did remove this scene the day of the release of the movie, these 90's.

It's all bullshit man. I would've loved to have seen this movie with all of the deleted scenes instead of this nerfed shit as a child. It would've been a good definitive batman movie for the younger generation of batman fans. But nope me and countless of other children and teenagers were robbed of a good experience. I grew up watching both Keaton and Kilmer and quite frankly Michael was my favorite. After rewatching Batman Forever and doing some research along with these deleted scenes it appears to me that Val Kilmer was the chosen one.
