The opening to a personal edit I did of Batman Forever. I sincerely thank everyone for the kind words and interest in this fan edit. If you want more information on this cut please follow the link below: demeterpictures.com/blog/?p=42
I like how the the opening imagery shows all those neurons firing inside the brain. In the film's context, it emphasizes the recurring theme of the human mind, which is a big focus for most of the characters. For example: Two-Face/Harvey Dent - A man with a mind so broken that he has developed an obsession with two's and uses his double-headed coin to help decide whether or not he commits crimes. Plus he refers to himself as "we", addressing the presence of both his normal personality of Harvey Dent and the evil Big Bad Harv in his mind. The Riddler/Edward Nygma - An introverted, yet intelligent man who feels that his genius is not appreciated enough. In his efforts to gain recognition by his superiors, Nygma invents a device that can increase his own intelligence at the cost of his sanity . Becoming the maniacal Riddler, he seeks to challenge Batman and prove himself as the smartest man in Gotham and the man with ALL the answers. Batman/Bruce Wayne - Broken as a child, Bruce suppressed the memories of the trauma that was the catalyst for his crusade against crime, which leads to him almost forgetting why he became the Dark Knight until speaking with Dr. Chase Meridian. Dr. Chase Meridian - As a psychiatrist, it's her job to peer into the minds of people like Two-Face, the Riddler, and Batman. And she does so over the course of the film, having studied the madness that drives the two supervillains and later learning the dark secret of Bruce Wayne. Robin/Dick Grayson - Much like Bruce, he too was broken when crime took his family from him and came to seek vengeance on the one who had killed them, Two-Face. In finding that they're not that far apart, Dick eventually comes to seek justice over vengeance, and dons the mantle of Robin to help the Dark Knight restore peace to Gotham and bring the super-villains to justice.
Good eye, I was also hoping people would harken back to Batman 89 and Batman Returns openings, where in the first one you are going through a Bat symbol (akin to Bruce Waynes mind) and in Batman Returns going through the sewers, akin to the penquins mind. The concept of the mind and hidden aspects of ourselves that are to be discovered is a big motif in the Batman saga.
To those who aren't fans of the theatrical cut, then here is the petition that someone created for a director's cut to be released for its 25th anniversary. You are all welcome to sign it, and spread the word out: www.change.org/p/warner-bros-to-warner-bros-release-the-director-s-cut-of-batman-forever-for-its-25th-anniversary. Thank you.
It would be more of a producers cut, because of Tim Burton both bringing Batman to life as a darker superhero on the silver screen and because he was the producer.
Michael Keaton was asked by Warner Bros and Joel Schumacher to come back and do Batman Forever as Lee and Janet Scott Batchler wrote Batman with Keaton in mind. His agency wanted $15 million for the percentage of the gross and the percentage of merchandising, but Keaton never like the idea of Batman with a bigger role at the time. So he took a pass on it. So, Val Kilmer was cast to replace Keaton.
Man how I wish that there was a directors' cut version of Batman Forever with the deleted scenes put back in and with the darker atmosphere that Joel Schumacher originally wanted Forever to be. It would have been a far better film. They can have my money if they ever made it.

This was actually Schumacher's original vision of the film. Unfortunately, Warner Brothers cared more about selling toys and marketing batman as some stupid family friendly crap than letting Schumacher make the movie the way he wanted to make it.
I didn't even think Val Kilmer was a bad Batman, I mean he has played darker roles before. Tommy Lee Jones wasn't a bad choice for Two Face either as he is a good actor and can play serious roles when needed. I didn't mind having Robin in the film, Tim Burton was even trying to find a way to introduce the character to the third film, he originally was going to cast him in Batman Returns but Catwoman and Penguin would have been too much and didn't want to cram to many characters at once so he decided that Robin would be introduced in the third film.
CynderSpirit Dragon no Tommy Lee Jones hammed it up way too much, even Jim Carrey was a little bit too much at times. But yeah Val Kilmer was actually a pretty good Bruce Wayne. He just needed to be in a better Batman film.
14 years old and still the best fan edit I've ever seen and I've always been dying to see something similar with Batman and Robin, so far I haven't found anything. Thanks for this hour of entertainment.
The studio TOLD HIM to cut it. Joel WANTED a dark Batman, but because of how dark Batman Returns was, Joel couldn't help it. This is why Michael Keaton wasn't Batman.

Schumacher did asked Keaton to come back, but Keaton left the Batman role for two reasons: one was due to a salary dispute at the time, and the other was creative differences.
@@NicholasWingoldenkiwi2095 well, Burton was doing Ed Wood and other projects. So he gave Schumacher his input during pre production on Batman Forever.
@@NicholasWingoldenkiwi2095 Tim Burton never really understood the character aside from displaying the surface level traits. He just made Batman into a Tim Burton character-- the outcast, the outsider. And Val Kilmer always suited the role way more than Keaton lol.
thanks, i tried to keep it like the first two burton films, where in the first its as if your going through bruce waynes mind (bat symbol) and in the second, going through the sewers (cobbelpots mind), and the whole theme in the movie of the riddler entering peoples minds etc and the theme of duality etc.
But how would they follow it up? They couldn't use the "I'll get drive-thru" scene, and they couldn't have shown all those neon spotlights sweeping over Gotham. They'd probably have to cut right to Two-Face's first appearance, and he did have a very good monologue at the beginning, but they'd have to cut out the last six words: "One man is born a hero, his brother a coward. Children die; politicians grow fat. Holy men are martyred; anchovies grow legion. And why? Why why why why why? Luck." A very good speech, almost more Tim Burton than Joel Schumacher, in fact. But then they had to ruin it with "Blind, simple, stupid, doo-dah, clueless LUCK!"
I have to two observations to make: 1) Arkham Asylum is amazing! It's reminiscient of the Dark Tower from Lord of the Rings! 2) Is that Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins playing the guard of Two Face's cell? It looks very much like him.
Who else think we got robbed??????? First this, then Justice League? Well if I didn’t know any better I’d swear either the movie industry has some sort of axe to grind considering their bias to making more canon DC Comics movies (Especially when it comes to Batman), or that someone is a double agent (mole) working for both DCEU and the MCU whose paid handsomely by Marvel to sabotage Batman films as a director ever so often to make it inconspicuously look as if these Batman films are suffering on their own. Somethings reaaall fishy about all of this
I would see say #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, but I believe it's now #RestoreTheSnyderverse. Thoughts and opinions on Zack Snyder's Justice League? I do hope we get The Schumacher Cut
I only WISH that Tim Burton did those last 2 films. XD they would of been 10x better and I bet he would of even made Jim Carry into a more frightful role. Not to mention, 2 face would of been played by a different actor, I would hope... I will ALWAYS LOVE the Tim Burton ones!!! BTW.... Hands down, Michael Keaton plays a better Batman/Bruce. XD
Originally, Robin Williams was set to be The Riddler. They cut Billy Dee Williams. They only cast Tommy Lee Jones because Mel Gibson turned this film down to do Braveheart
Yeah, this is what the film could have looked like 'IF' Burton and Keaton returned! Man it should have been a trilogy! In fact Burton and Keaton should be allowed to make another one with an old Bruce Wayne/Batman and Man-Bat as the main villain!
it's so cool to see the opening to this film with the immortal Danny Elfman Batman theme. Makes me wonder what the movie would have been like if Burton had been given more control of it as a producer. Or even if he'd stayed on as Director for the third movie!
Very amazing opening , you do an incredible job ¡ its more darker than the opening of Batman Returns. I jsut imagine all the movie whit this tone , the action scene's could be vey awesome¡¡
That was his idea of himself with a question mark shaved on his head, but he decided not to do it, because he was doing a divorce at the time, and Carrey can't show up in court with a question mark shaved on his head. Besides, it's stupid.
@onlyone23km No, remember this is JUST a fan-edit. About two years ago on the Batman Movie Online forum, DemeterPictures known as RedSkull first made this edit and at the moment gave out copies. I still have mine!
After Tommy Lee Jones was cast as Two-Face and was the first person who's cast in the film in general, Joel Schumacher did asked Michael Keaton to return as Batman in Batman Forever with Lee and Janet Scott Batchler writing the character with his voice in mind. His agency wanted $15 million and the piece of the gross and merchandising, but Michael never liked the idea of Batman with a bigger role at the time, and that's why Val Kilmer made the best interpretation of Batman in Batman Forever.
I once heard a rumor they were going to give Batman Forever a directors cut like they did Superman 2. Just in time for the Anthology release, but it never happened =(

Im from the future Theres a schumaker cut and last like 45 minutes longer Man bat scene Robin and bruce interactions Bruce conflict Alfred and bruce Dope
Rene was great in his small role as Dr. Burton...if he was still here he might have gotten a part in "The Batman" with Robert...probably as another Arkham doctor.
The movie would have been better if: 1.Two-face and Riddler werent reskined jokers. 2.They did add those scenes + the one were Bruce loses his memory being batman. In other words - had some depth. 3.Less colours.
So do I. I always imagined Batman Triumphant that way had we got it with Danny Elfman's score. It would've been a cross between Sleepy Hollow 1999 and the animated series episode Dreams In Darkness
This is a much better opening to the film then what we actually got.I wished that Warner Brothers hadn’t had cared about making the film a “Family Friendly” film and just had let Joel Schumacher made the film his way it would of been way better than what we actually got in the end but it would of been much better if Tim Burton had made the film instead of Joel Schumacher in the end because his last two batman films were great successful films 👍🏻
Thanks. I was really disappointed when Batman Forever came out. I was someone who loved Tim Burtons films and wanted to see him and Keaton continue onward. Imagine Burton doing characters like Mr. Freeze or Scarecrow? Its too bad we didn't get one more movie from Burton. Would be cool if someone made like a what if animated feature of a Burton Batman 3.
@@DemeterPictures A 2 hour animated movie as a 3rd Tim Burton Batman movie would be awesome! It would be like Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, but with Keaton
@DragonAngelO - That was his original intention;; - And than he was reduced to producer;; - And than Keaton got fed up with whole Schumacher-concept, and felt Batman is no longer a challenge to him as an actor;; - And than Schumacher cut out a lot of exciting things from Forever, the numskull! He cut out for example the best scene of the movie, featuring Man-Bat! "The secret of the Batcave" as as sürreal independent shortfilm is still very exciting!
I Love Batman Forever But I Really Need This Cut In My Life And Collection I'm Starting Making Some Short Films But Tim Burton Is My idol So I Hope one Day I Will Can Make One Or Two Original Dark Gothic Batman Movie Like This Style Of Batman Forever And Batman Returns And Batman 1989 You Know Like The "Batman Continues" Of Tim Burton🔥
yep, and originally when they wrote the script, that Dr Burton role was to naturally be the Tim Burton cameo.. before he thought it was too chessy and decided to play the Circus Ringmaster instead.
Since this a "dream" opening with Burton & Elfman credited, why not also have Billy Dee Williams credited as Two-Face? Also, I like the Goldenthal opening theme with this scenery.
@jameskit yes, it wold have been better that way. To the poster of this video, THIS OPENING IS AMAZING, It's funny how Dann Elfman's music can change the mood
did you use the infamous Batman-meets-Empire-Strikes-Back scene? also known as the "Man-Bat Cave" scene? That scene is the best one that was sadly left out....
You're assuming that he cut out the scenes from his interest, but it's most likely WB forced him to do so. He really wanted to make a dark Batman film for years (most notably a close adaptation of "Year One") but WB made him trapped n a vicious cycle of making them "family-friendly". Thankfully because of the horrific reception to "Robin", Joel broke out of the cycle before directing another slap-in-the-face to Batman fans.
They didn't say they wanted lighter and brighter. They just told Joel to do whatever he wants. Period. I like Joel's Batman as much as I like Tim's Batman.
They didn't say they wanted lighter and brighter to Joel. They just wanted to go 89 with Forever, but with Batman The Animated Series being an influence and going back to the 1940s and early 50s Batman comics.
I agree entirely with the comment about Crane. This is the second DIY cut that uses Elfman's music instead of Goldenthal's. There are some bad things about Batman Forever (and A LOT about Batman and Robin) but I didn't see anything wrong with Goldenthal's music - it's just different to Elfman's (and not all that different, at that).

If you put the different parts of the link I posted together you can get a page that shows you how to make a torrent, I've never tried it before but hopefully it will work.
I'm guessing they took these scenes out because they would be a massive contrast to the rest of the film, like from really dark to futuristic and colourful.
It really wasn't Schmachuer's lol fault. The Studio fucked up. they wanted a lighter Batman and this had a good balance with camp and some dark elements and a good story, plus there is a few deleted scenes in this movie that they should of kept. Batman and Robin= Abortion
It's both fucking whining parents and Warner Bros' fault and if Joel Schumacher didn't change the tone too much what Tim Burton have in the first two movies then Michael Keaton might have return for the third time as Batman too. Michael Keaton said the script for "Batman Forever" sucked.
I apologize to Schumacher for the years of hatred. hell I'll forgive the nipples because of the greek inspired theme. I wanna watch the real Batman forever. Batman and robin wasn't his fault take it up with the wb
