Batman v Superman - The Worst Superhero Movie Ever Made? 

Hey guys! So at around 34:08 I originally played the "Martha" scene in full. But whoever owns Hans Zimmer's music decided that the faint score playing in that scene was grounds to block the video! So since the video has already been up RU-vid only offered me to remove that chunk of the video which left a weird editing glitch between cuts. Can't do anything about it! But at least this way the video is monetized and actually viewable worldwide. I'll probably be making a video on this issue because as some of you know this happened on the last Worst Superhero Movies video too. Anyway thanks for watching bye byeee

Batman in this movie wasn't even remotely faithful to the character. He's the world's worst detective who immediately blames Superman for blowing up the courthouse and tries to kill him for it without even conducting an investigation. Batman NEVER takes things at face value like this, and NEVER tries to kill people without looking at any evidence. He NEVER just assumes people are guilty.

The most memorable moment of watching this movie in the theater was an older gentleman falling asleep, snoring comically loud even during the action scenes. Truly inspirational.

It's why I always loved the DCAU versions of these characters. They always had Superman and Batman be so compassionate. They were still conflicted, flawed, made bad decisions, even tempted to do evil, but in the end it was their compassion that kept them as good guys. Like, DCAU Superman would have never been so selfish and cold as to let his father die just to protect his identity: he'd have thrown his secret identity to the wind in an instant to save ANY innocent, let alone his father.

Comic book Batman once saved a young man from a robbery that left his parents dead. He got the boy to safety and soon enough, that boy began a life of crime. Batman caught him robbing an electronic store with a gang and after knocking everyone else out, he confronts the boy, who's pointing a gun at him. Batman then tells the boy that crime took his parents too, and he told him, "don't become the very thing that took our parents from us." The kid gave up on crime and reformed himself. Batfleck would scare that kid into keeping his mouth shut after he brutally tears the robber a new one

Snyder is really great with visuals, not necessarily visual story telling, but he's really good at making some really cool visuals and that's about it.

A movie where Superman is kind, apologetic and polite would've actually been really nice to show and could've influenced some young men and boys to be kind, polite and apologetic and to care for people. Superman and a lot of other superheroes are designed to be role models - a kind role model for boys would be amazing.

When I first saw the MoS trailer where we get the exchange "What was I supposed to do, let them die?" "Maybe", I thought it was a mean spirited edit made to make the movie look more provocative than it really was, because there's no way John Kent would say that. I think Man of Steel was a wasted opportunity. I would have loved to seen like. Homecoming style Superman movie where we pick up with him as a farm boy in the big city struggling to stay in disguise while saving people and balancing those two aspects of himself, then getting thrust into something much bigger than he’s been experiencing and feeling like he’s not ready for it etc. That would have been so great.

Batman killing people takes just about all of the depth and interesting stuff of Batman. They also barely had Superman in the movie.

Also, if Batman DOES murder people in this universe, why the hell is Joker still alive? He'd be the first person Batman would kill, not some random thugs in cars...

Zach Snyder looked at a brutal, and dark Batman from The Dark Knight Returns and went “oh well he must kill people with guns because those kill.” But there’s literally a scene where Batman calls guns loud and clumsy. Even that extremely brutal version of Batman won’t kill with guns. He didn’t even read THAT comic, the most well known Batman book.

Having him to up and ask to borrow the clothes would have been such a cute and humbling moment

37:16 To me how Lois almost dies in the final battle of BVS is hands down one of the dumbest and most frustrating things I’ve seen in a movie. After Batman and Superman leave she gets the kryptonite spear and runs around looking for a place to get rid of it. Throws it in the water. Runs outside, sees Superman getting beat and immediately realizes “oh shit. That thing I just go rid of would probably come in handy right now.” And just as soon as she came out she runs back to go get the spear thus putting her in her predicament. It might not seem that bad to most but how it played out on screen drove me nuts.

If you make a version of Batman that kills people and uses guns, you didn’t make Batman, you made The Punisher

My biggest complaint about Batman V Superman is the cramming. It's like... they were trying to get ready for Justice League so they could have a movie that might compete with Avengers Infinity War whevit came out. They Crammed SO MUCH into Batman v Superman trying to set up for that, that they forgot to focus on what this movie was supposed to be. I always Argued what made Avengers Work and JL fail for me was that Marvel actually took the time to lay the Foundation. DC didn't. They rushed so many critical plot points into 1 movie to lead up to their Team up movie with Characters we Barely knew. Avengers had established their Characters in FIVE movies before making their Team up. They didn't have to spend time introducing everyone for those who had kept up. It was just about letting them play off each other at that point. It worked! It had it's focus where it needed to be. The DCU is a Goddamn Mess because they're rushing it. It could be so much better..... they need to stop worrying about Deadlines... get their Cast in order. Keep it consistant. And STOP rebooting so much! Just figure out what you wanna do already.

"Oh no, we really have to catch up to Marvel and prove we are better. Let's take all the worldbuilding they did in like, 6 movies, cram it into one and a half movies, and hope it all pans out". I'm honestly not surprised that the DC movies are seemingly being rebooted again because they really shine with their animated movies. I would almost say to stick to that but because no one wants animated movies in theaters anymore no one would let that slide.

I'm trying to be a film-maker once I graduate. All your videos really help me figure out what NOT to do in a movie. Other than the complete obvious stuff, but like the little details. I probably won't do any superhero stuff unless its original, but I would like to at least see how what other critics say could fuel an actually good movie

It's a real shame that Henry Cavill had to be stuck playing a darker version of Superman, because he really is visually perfect for the role and I think he could pull off Classic Supes perfectly. Part of why Superman and Batman work so well together is because they're opposites. You can't make Superman dark and brooding and expect to have a crossover be all that interesting.

The saddest part about this movie for me is that I really love Batman's design. Dark Knight Returns is my favorite comic and this is such an awesome modernized version of it. And Ben Affleck's acting doesn't seem to be the problem because he's pretty done cool as both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

As someone who never read any of the comics (so I had no clue Superman is meant to be a beacon of hope; I lack imagination in general) and whose first experience with Superman was with 2006's Superman Returns, I have to say Man of Steel and BvS are just poorly made films in general, Superman or not. Heck, in Man of Steel at least two people I watched with were just bored by the end with the endless fighting. WB rushed this stuff too hard, and the forced gritty and dark atmosphere didn't help. That was surprising to me, because I thought Man of Steel was okay enough, even though Superman's initial life story is rushed. Or I think I just liked it because there was plenty of action, not just talk unlike other superhero/action movies at the time.

The extended Justice League and WW84 were both way worse. Even Man of Steel was horrendous, with Clark's dad suggesting he actually should've let a bus full of kids die, and his complete disregard for collateral damage. No joke, hundreds of thousands would have died if not directly, then from the after effects during the rescue efforts like 9/11. It completely ruined what Superman stood for, who is a human first and a Kryptonian second. He constantly insults his parents by saying they aren't even his REAL parents, and he and everyone else calls him Kal El, not CLARK, his NAME for his whole life. *He also just let his dad die for no good reason. There's a reason his dad is traditionally killed with a heart attack is because none of his powers could save him. That's the POINT. You can't save everyone, no matter how powerful you are. A lesson this Superman never learns.

Can we all stop pretending that the reasons Snyder's movies suck is because they're being compared to Marvel movies? His movies don't suck "in comparison to Marvel", his movies just suck. He and Shyamalan are the same dudes: talent, but ego ruins what they could have made. They have good ideas and they keep getting jobs based on the idea the producers saw. They both made one good movie, and the movie-going audience desperately WANTS them to make more good movies. Snyder and Shyamalan are idea dudes who are too obsessed with their own legacy to let others bring their visions to life. Snyder and Shyamalan could both be remembered as genius producers. They ruined their own legacy by not knowing their own limits. It's genuinely upsetting to watch these films and to see what could have been. I should say, in all fairness, that I never watched a Snyder DC move all the way through. I PAID AMC TICKET PRICES to watch two DC Snyder and walked out of the theater both times. I did actually stay all the way through Man of Steel....but I fell asleep an hour in. DCU: fell asleep in a movie theater, walked out, walked out, ...unfortunately apparently Aquaman was pretty good but I just can't bear to watch another film so boring that I fall asleep. People: it's not about Marvel vs DC. I do not give a crap. I have read one comic book in my life. It's about making compelling characters. I will recommend SuckerPunch to everyone. Is it feminist? No. Is it horrifyingly sexist? Yes. Is it an interesting movie? Yes, and I paid money and watched it more than once in theaters.

Snyder cultists are just that, cultists. A minority of people who don’t move the needle. When BvS came out, it was universally reviled from both critics and audiences. It’s the only movie to have a $200 million opening weekend and still not hit a $1 billion. That’s the definition of a word of mouth failure.

This man of steel critique actually made me massively reconsider it (also cos I haven’t seen it since it first dropped) Jonathan Kent in man of steel is severely bigoted. He’d rather children die than reveal to the world that his son is anything except normal.

I was born a Superman fan. When I was young I wore a Superman outfit with a little cape almost everyday, had bunches of Superman toys, and loved the Christopher reeves Superman. At age 6, I entered the theatre to see man of steel, and left that theatre no longer a Superman fan. The movie single-handedly killed my love for Superman that quickly, a testament to how shit that movie is. Over the years I’ve regained my love for Superman (the character, especially reeves) but not the Henry cavil Zack Snyder version, which misunderstood the character on a completely fundamental basis just as this vid says, great vid.
