The man was pure charisma, charm, and magic. There could be a lot of people trying to fill those boots but I doubt any of them will hold a candle to late, great, Christopher Reeve.
Imagine that. I got chills just watching his Speech…… A man that is a comic iconic symbol what the united state and ever country should stand for. Specially as people should strive to be. Magnificent !!!! Best part I saw ever
My favorite part is when the Chancellor asks if Superman has a sponsor, and every delegate raises their hand. I'm sure every country has seen a disaster averted by the man of steel.
It's true that the Man of Steel tries to save the Day everywhere but even Superman can't be everywhere. As infinity Powerful he is at times Superman can't save everyone. Its been proven in Superman one when he a choice to save a State from Nuclear deviation or the life of his then crush Lois Lane. It's been proven in a TV Series called Lois & Clark when Superman lost his Powers and Lois became Ultra Woman and it's been Proven in Comic Books in which Superman lost the fight to save a Earth from Three Villains of his own birth world and in Crisis when he lost his only Cousin to the Anti Monitor.
But in Superman III every country voted to censure evil Superman, with Colombia - who he'd just saved - abstaining. So that meant that France, the US, etc. who he'd saved before didn't take into account he'd helped them before. I bet when he became good and heard that, he was peed off, thinking all those ungrateful countries he'd saved from destruction.
When I was a kid, I looked up to Superman. He was my role model. I'll never forget the day Christopher Reeves died. I was sad for a moment, but then realized he was finally free to fly once again as God intended. By his example as displayed in the movies, I find I am often moved to take the road less traveled, to stand the righteous ground, and always do what's right. You can pick your heros, historical or fictional. But you will be hard pressed to find one that measures up to Christopher Reeves as Superman.
@@merilwen So you got your values from a movie?? HAH. And if you're referring to this movie, the 4th of the series, a silly and mediocre B-movie at that. Also, the "American way" not at all has the same positive ring to it as it once did.
I saw Superman IV - if the rest of the movie had been this brilliant, it would have been far better than Superman III... This scene was like something straight out of the comics, and no one embodied Superman better than Christopher Reeve. I will say, I am a bit confused by this sequence being titled "Batman Vs Superman United Nations" - other than a couple of shots of Michael Keaton, is this part of a larger homage or parody?
@@purefoldnz3070 No, it wouldn't. You literally have a guy who can end all wars in under 24 hours. This is an ideal world shown in S4. Sadly, we live in real life where morons, like you, normalize death of innocents just because morons in high command think they're awesome.
This was a (very simple) fan edit of a "what if" moment....what if the 80s Superman and the 80s Batman were in a movie. Wasn't but three or four years separating the movie...Keaton's Batman would be watching that U.N. address.
@@jamesanderson6373 The original poster actually used the correct version of ''your'' and ''you're". The first is the possessive, as in 'your weapons or your toys'. The second is a contraction of 'you' and 'are', so when the OP says 'You're children', they're using the correct word.
Ok....where was Batman? This was just a clip from "Superman IV The Quest for Peace." The title made me think you were going to edit in Michael Keaton Batman clips to create a scene from "Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice." You should change your title. It's misleading.
That's a different costume than he wore in the previous 3 movies because Cannon were not allowed to acquire the rights to the costume equipment which created the original weave so they had to remake it from scratch.. the blue is different from the original costumes Reeve wore. It looks more grey blue up close..
And at the end he said the dumbest quote ever written "and there will be peace, there will be peace when the people want it so bad, there government will have no choice but to give it" hahaha superman that isn't how governments work.
I guessed you missed him. Keaton was watching at Wayne manor. But this really was a poor fan edit to I ly gave one miniscule clip from 89 Batman in it to justify them using this title
@@BigKnGa Yes thank you. that's true. Bruce actually did appears at 02.43, for 1, again ONE (!!!!) SECOND. It's a blink and miss Scene. And by the way I agree, bad Fan edit or as you said poor Fan Edit. But seriously, I have missed Bruce the First Time, so thanks for pointing it out! I missed it because again, it's a "blink-and-miss-it" Apperance.
Christopher Reeve's Superman, the one that most closely fit the true, "boring", noble Superman. This Superman wouldn't be the stupid, emo Cavill Superman, fighting the equally stupid and emo Affleck Batman. No, Batman vs Superman would never have been possible with this Superman.
Less emo Cavill and more emo synider. Cavill understands Superman and how to play him. He wasn’t allowed to by the director and writers. Something he vowed to correct in the next movie before they bait and switched fired him.
Did anyone notice the continuity error when Jeremy is standing up while Superman addresses the Madam Secretary, and in the next shot when Lois is asked what he is going to say, Lois is holding Jeremy on her lap?

I loved this speech and it's delivery. However, even as a child, I realized Superman was potentially instigating a war, by removing each nation's nuclear arsenal. Interestingly, he starts with he US's missiles (subs) and then the Russians. I can only imagine the chaos being created, when Superman breaks into nuclear missile bases and takes the missiles. I'm willing to bet someone would try and detonate a nuke in the process to try and stop Superman. It would probably be futile, especially against this version of Superman. The Russians would probably consider it an American act of war, considering Superman is most active in the US and assume he is loyal to the US. After all, in his first published interview, he says he is here to fight for truth, justice, and the American way. Superman probably would have started World War 3, in this seemingly good intentioned act.
@Mark Duffield No, it wasn't the '70s, child. It was 1987. We'd already had the 1st Star Wars trilogy and the 1st 4 Star Trek movies. But Cannon Films had taken over, and the budget was slashed, so this film ended up as the movie equivalent of the 3rd season of Star Trek's original series. And also like the 3rd season of Batman in 1967-68, for a better analogy. In other words, it should have been an improvement, but it wasn't.
ww3 with nukes out of the picture would be a bloodbath. 50 million lost in direct conflict alone. 100s of millions from the indirect chaos. We'd be at war right now without them for sure.
Ya know maybe it's just me, but always wondered even as a kid when I first saw this scene....Was it really a good idea to throw the entire planets nuclear weapons into a net then into the FREAKING SUN!!!!!😳!?!? just saying 🤔
Why not? The combined power of every nuclear weapon on earth compared to the sun's power would be like comparing the thickness of a sheet of paper to the height of the empire state ! It's insignificant and would have no effect on the sun!!
I think it would have been better to just throw the missiles out into the void of space instead of our Sun.... that solar flare could EMP the whole planet
All of our nuclear weapons detonating on the surface of the Sun wouldn't even be noticed when the whole surface is a continual nuclear explosion. The weapons would be extremely tiny in comparison. And they wouldn't detonate anyway, because they would vapourise long before they even got to the surface.
@@ArcKnightElite Sun spots often grow to many times the size of our planet and are caused by the magnetic field of the entire Sun. Imagine how much energy would be needed to affect such large structures and the magnetic field of an entire star. We have less than 20000 nuclear devices on Earth. The asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs was about 10km across and released the energy of about 10 billion Hiroshima sized fission devices. Many asteroids of that size could continually fall into the Sun without affecting it at all. And just like any nuclear weapons thrown at the Sun, they would vapourise before even reaching the surface, because the Sun is so incredibly hot before you even get to it. Millions of Earths could fit inside of the Sun, and the Sun is one huge and continuous thermonuclear explosion that still has billions of years of existence ahead of it. The Sun can swallow whole planets without a fuss, so all of our Tsar Bomba sized weapons and extinction level asteroids are nothing at all in comparison to it.
There’s no punchline, this was a film edit of a Batman VS Superman movie that stars their 80s counterparts Michael Keaton and Christopher Reeve respectively. The aim of this project/video was to make a BVS film as well as a re-edit of Superman IV using behind the scenes footage and trying to edit associated scenes especially the flying scenes.
Imagine if when he threw the nukes into the sun...that shit just went out like a blown lightbulb... And he's like....ooohh crap. Also, i dont know why cannon didn't just do a cross over with superman, HE-MAN and delta force. Now Imagine THAT Fkn movie!
