I mentioned these bulbs stay powered on even when they lose AC power. But @KwasnikPictures shared a useful tip-simultaneously click all three buttons on the bulb, and they switch to AC power mode. Now they behave like normal bulbs, turning off when the AC power supply is switched off. (Good to know you can have it both ways!)

The screw-in lightbulb socket is called an Edison Socket. The variations are numeric-like an A19 being the one used for a “standard” household lightbulb.

Yeah, I realized we mixed up the language. A19 refers to the bulb shape/diameter, not the base. E26 refers to the standard screw-in base size.

What about using a multi-bulb bathroom strip lighting fixture (the kind that hang over mirrors), building out a box to hold the strip, and creating diffusion in front of the box. Just a thought.

You could use those in the old CFL light kits. Hmmm..... That would be a great way to keep using those perfectly good kits. String them like xmas lights. Or one of those standing lamps with three lights.

The brand is "Pannon" (never heard of it). $30 on Amazon-amzn.to/34AXJCY I like that unlike some of the others, there's no logo branded on its surface.

Hi Griffin hue bulbs are pretty expensive so it made me search for other options I found a company called Wyze that makes color changing bulbs that are brighter & richer colors than hue would love to see if you did a video comparison on which would be more useful for video work just a thought thanks for making such great videos

Perhaps you could just setup your whole rig on a desk, then mount it on a track dolly with a circular track so angle/set changes become effortless.

Great bulbs to play tricks on people. Switch out their regular lights with these and they will have no idea why the light won't turn off ;)

@@GriffinHammond If you short press all three buttons on the bulb, you'll switch from AC to DC mode, aka "non-prank mode" and the bulb will behave just like a normal bulb. 💡😉

@@KwasnikPictures Excellent trick! Thank you for sharing. I just switched all 8 bulbs to that mode, as it was getting annoying to manually switch each off after killing the power.

Those bulbs are kool! Their flexibility in use is definitely a huge benefit, now i just need an excuse to spend $800 bucks on them…? And did i miss the Pulp Fiction reference? 😝

The purpose of these lamps is to replace bulbs in existing fixtures in interview situations and/or real estate/architectural shoots so you get no flicker and complete control of the practicals found on location. In the past, you would be carrying dimmers to control residential tungsten lights, or gelling existing practical lights. All these workarounds are time consuming and difficult to control. Today, the problem is worse because of the proliferation of compact fluorescents, LEDs of every possible type, incompatibility with conventional dimmers, etc etc.

These are for practical lights visible in a scene being photographed. You guys are making the water muddy more than being usefully informative. These lamps in no way eliminate the need for actual set lighting.

Right-these portable bulbs are designed to replace practical lights on-location. I used "set" to mean filming "location." I didn't intend to suggest that these accent lights would be substitutes for powerful studio lights.
