I had an X5 hybrid 16 plate, engine went two da6s before the warranty ran out. Basically a tensioner bolt had sheared causing catastrophic damage. Thankfully they honoured honoured warranty and I ran round on a 7 series courtesy car for three weeks whilst a new engine was delivered from Germany. We run a Tesla on our company fleet and so far its been fine with no issues.

I too have a green p85 and I constantly get compliments on it. I think the only reason it wasn’t a popular color is people purchased them online and couldnt see them in person. When I told my wife we were going to look at a green one she initially was totally against it until she saw it in person and loved it.

I have a green P85 turned P90. Main pack was replaced March 2021 a few months before my warranty ended. 91.6% of my new replacement 90kWh battery is usable, the rest is unlockable through Tesla service for around $2k. The motor was replaced 2 years ago. Free Unlimited Supercharging and Free Unlimited LTE is very nice. Still going strong on the same 12V since April 2019 or earlier! The one nice thing about NOT having autopilot. (funny how the 12V outlived the original HV battery within my ownership). My car is also rooted (jailbroken) still rocking the leaky OG MCU1 with a new eMMC. MCU2 might be my next upgrade. I also tow a 1100lb fiberglass rv trailer using a Torklift EcoHitch. I had Unplugged performance rear adjustable camber arms installed and set to -0.98. -2.3 was previous camber, both are within spec. Also installed Remmen ceramic "Bathurst" rotor and brake kit since the original rotors were getting warped. Just for fun I installed a 1500W pure sine inverter in the frunk. Not sure if my next vehicle will be a Rivian R1T/S or a Cybertruck. An electric offroad van would also be cool :)

It's a good job you got the Battery replaced before the 8 year time limit. My Model S90D is an early 2016 car and has done 178K miles on the same battery. My drivers door handle has malfunctioned numerous times and I have today put in a service request as it has failed yet again despite being the latest generation of handle. Next job is to replace the wiper drive assembly as the drivers wiper has worn a groove in the bonnet. I have purchased a second hand one which I will fit over the next week or so. DB

I have tehe same problem with the wipers on my 2014 model S. As it seems to be a fabrication problem, it should be replaced for free, but as it is now out of general warranty I’m not expecting that, I am only crossing my fingers for the motor or the battery not to fail, or in case they fail they do it this year, before the car is 8 years old

Is the serial number of the replacement battery pack not on the invoice (it should be). You can work out the version from the serial. It's the 4th digit. If it's not on the invoice its on the sticker on the pack (you will need to kneel down and look under the car) it's near the front wheel. I think the newer packs are version C or D for the 85kWh packs. If it's newer than D it's probably a 90kWh pack that's been limited.

We started down freeway 5 and I got a warning that I needed to charge the car and to pull over to the side of the road. I was lucky we were not hit by other traffic as it was about ten am. We had to wait for about two hours for Geico to send us a tow truck. Tesla in Bakersfield told us that the main battery needed to be replaced. The car has about 85000 miles on it. Worse case it may take seven weeks to get the battery replaced. The battery is still under warranty so that helps. They provided a model 3 to continue our trip home. I had to learn how to drive this M3 as it does not operate like the MS does. I have to say it rides ok, but I like my MS. Tesla Workers at the Bakersfield location are very nice. Our Model S did not give us any indication in the days leading up to this battery failure. Has anyone else had something like this happen to them? Are the batteries installed in the newer cars better? Thank you for the video.

@GoGreenAutos
@GoGreenAutos 2 года назад
No symptoms. Something just died when the car was parked up. While the pack was replaced, its clear that the battery cells in it where fine. Anyway, the recondition pack I was given will (in their words) "never fail for the same reason".

@@GoGreenAutos When your battery pack "died," what happened? Would it still charge and drive or what exactly happened? I am hoping Tesla will replace my battery pack in my P85D, but they are telling me through texts in the AP that it is "Fine" and "OK" even though it charged very slow (117 mi/hr) and at a constant rate from 22 miles of range up to 190, which barely made my next supercharger destination that was downhill 128 miles, and at this stop would not charge at all and had to be towed 150 miles to a service center, where it has remained for the past 6 days. It is as if they are trying to make my pack last until the warranty is up in 9 months. I also hear and feel a vibration under the car, which they are attributing to my tires having low tread, which makes no sense. I believe this wobble sound has to do with rotating shafts, so possibly the bearings in one or both motors. Would your car charge and drive when they diagnosed a back battery pack?

How many times do we run out of battery on our phone or laptop then will occur with electrical car powered by battery and when there are more cars the problem will only get worse as it will be even harder to find available charging point or working. It is simple logic as we are able to fuel à car in less than 5 minutes and in best case it takes around 30 minutes to charge a car not even to its full capacity. How is that going to work?

@GoGreenAutos 2 года назад
@@fredericguyon1449 EV batteries are not the same as phone or laptop cells. There's other technology in there to manage the pack which stops this. But hey, I'm not here to keep trying to convince everyone. Yes EVs do take longer to charge, but almost NEVER sit and wait for it to charge. Over 90% of the time it charges when not using the car, while I sleep at night. So the reality is it takes me 10 seconds to plug and 10 seconds to unplug in the morning. That is far quicker and more convenient than any previous ICE vehicle. Then on the occasions I'm doing a long trip and DC rapid charge, I'm normally using the loo or grabbing some lunch, which uses up the time, which you're correct is about 20-30 mins on average. But as time goes on, there will be others offering repairs and of course, even if you had a new pack, your old pack has a value which will offset the cost. Battery packs also can be repaired and as these vehicles get older, the knowledge and companies offering this will improve as a market for this work develops. Picking up my 2013 P85 after 6 weeks waiting for my battery replacement; however my failure occurred 5 mths after warranty and thus cost $11,800 to replace. No loaner car provided.

Not the $25,000 that everyone is banging on about then. But shame you've had the huge cost. Did you talk about the value of your old pack or was that factored in..i.e. part exchanged?
@tonyrussell6997
@tonyrussell6997 2 года назад
@@GoGreenAutos The $11,800 was my out of pocket cost for a re-manufactured "85 kWh pack", Tesla kept the pack from my car. Tesla originally / wrongly quoted me and additional $2400 for an re-manufactured "90 kWh" pack. I live in the Midwest US, so I assume the cost also includes shipping to and from where Tesla re-manufactures the pack which I believe is being done in Nevada or California.

Good thing you were under warranty because a new battery pack could cost between $12,000 and $30,000.

Hi What is the range and supercharging speed of the replaced battery in comparison to the old one ? I also get a new one soon Thanks

I've done videos on charging etc since, see ru-vid.comsearch?query=tesla But basically its the same. The original battery didn't get replaced due to cell failure.

Evs should have an option for a battery insurance of sorts so you need not pay the total cost of new battery even if the 8 year warranty period is up
@GoGreenAutos
@GoGreenAutos 2 года назад
You could buy a third party insurance backed warranty if you wanted to cover, just like you can on any used vehicle.

Did you see increase in the range after the battery replacement?
@GoGreenAutos
@GoGreenAutos Год назад
No, just the same. But then the original battery would have had very minimal degradation. Its not the cells letting these original 85kWh packs down, its the water cooling design. Apparently they leak coolant. But this has been changed in the later revisions of this pack.

I see stories about battery replacements costing $22K-25K, is that cost for new batteries? I wonder how much would it be for refurb batteries like the one put in your car, and why werent those people offered refurb batteries?
@GoGreenAutos
@GoGreenAutos 2 года назад
It will all come when a market starts to develop for battery repairs & refurbishment. Until now, all Teslas have been covered by the warranty, so there's no need for this work. But now they are getting older, a market in battery work will begin to develop....but only if there is the work and demand for it. We are there with Nissan Leafs now. Sorry if someone else has mentioned this but why was the door handle not covered by warranty.
@GoGreenAutos
@GoGreenAutos 2 года назад
Because of the age of the car. Its 7.5 years old and the the "car" warranty was 3 or 5 years from new. The drivetrain (i.e. motor, battery and high voltage components) is warranted for 8 years.

I got the identical 2013 model S :) 60kwh pack still running strong. 😎 Thanks for sharing. Do you know what was the fault causing your failure?
@GoGreenAutos
@GoGreenAutos 2 года назад
No I don't know, but I did try to quiz the technicians and I have the feeling it was more to do with a BMS or circuit failure than the actual pack or cells. It seems these early 85kWh packs are prone to the fault and it doesn't effect other packs Tesla made. The service technician said the manufactured pack will never get the same fault.
@electrifiedmotors

@@GoGreenAutos That's good to know, if other components are good the car should run another 7 years. I wonder what is Tesla strategy when it comes to replacing all the other battery packs that are approaching 10 year mark.

@@electrifiedmotors I've seen they are now charging about $14,000 for a pack, taking your old one in part exchange. Better than the $24,000 talked about before.

@@electrifiedmotors I got no new warranty. This was a replacement under the original 8 year unlimited mileage warranty from new, so that still remains and runs out in six months time.
