Still the winner IMO - amzn.to/3ETW7oE
I'm on the hunt for the best "bang for your buck" wireless video transmitter for churches. When the Hollyland C1 came out, I purchased it to see if it would work for us.

Thanks again for the great video. I decided to go with the Hollyland Mars 300 pro as we don't have the budget for the Teradek just now. We have used a couple of side angle cameras and just delayed everything to match the latency. It takes a little bit to work it all out, but it comes together at the end.
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell 2 года назад
If you are using an ATEM that has built in converters and not worried about latency, those should work well. 👍🏻
@paulboisvert4089

I was thinking of doing something similar for the same reason. Wondering though, if I'm running 2 follow cams with c1 with audio delayed to match up,... what if I have a 3rd wired stationary cam in back near booth for wide shots. Do you think that will be passable?

Thanks for doing this test, and acknowledging the HDMI latency of the GH cameras. HDMI latency is common, but seems to be much higher with the GH4 and GH5. It's a shame, as these are otherwise great cameras. 12/12/23 Update: I just read that you can reduce the HDMI latency with some GH series cameras by disabling audio output via HDMI. I typically need to record and/or send audio via HDMI, so this isn't a viable option for me.

We're loving the Nyrius Pro+ you had previously used (found an Amazon Warehouse deal for under $200 and figured why not give it a try). Used it for 4 weeks now and it has been 100% solid in our use case. It has zero latency and quality loss. I tested with the splitter method as described in this video, I could swap inputs on the switcher and you would never know which was which.
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell 2 года назад
Awesome! I’ve still got my two nyrius pro units and they are for sure zero latency. We just started having issues with dropouts.
@PeterVCook
@PeterVCook 2 года назад
@@RylandRussell Based on what you, and the Amazon reviews were saving we've been pretty worried about that. So we have tried two things successfully: 1) Putting the receiver near the transmitter and then running a long cable to the switcher 2) Putting the receiver about 15 feet off the ground so it can have a line of sight to the transmitter even when the room is full.
@g4goodness
@g4goodness 2 года назад
@@PeterVCook Just curious - what's the point of putting the receiver near the transmitter and using a long cable versus just using a long cable directly to the camera?
@PeterVCook
@PeterVCook 2 года назад
@@g4goodness In our case, we were running the camera on a gimbal handheld. So it reduces the chances of tripping, accidentally yanking on a cable, and makes it easier to balance the gimbal. We mounted the transmitter to the top of the camera.

I had to put a frame converter on Hollyland C1 because it will not output 59,94fps. It will only do a full 30 or 60fps.

Thanks for the test. I'd be anxious to see the test using the SDI connection. My experience is HDMI adds a slight bit of latency.

Love the comparison! Did you try splitting the difference with the audio delay with these? Curious if you’d be able to make them all useable after shifting the audio. Not an ideal solution obviously, but I have thought that it’d be an interesting way for churches to get into wireless transmitters for a lot less. You could pick up two transmitters potentially and shift your audio delay for almost the same price as one zero latency transmitter.
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell 2 года назад
Hmmm if they were only two frames apart that might work perfectly. The others being 6 off might be a stretch. For us having 8 cams I’d rather my 6 wired cams be on.
@ZachBrownMedia
@ZachBrownMedia 2 года назад
@@RylandRussell yeah for sure. 6 frames is a bit too much
@rkhanso
@rkhanso 27 дней назад
What about that difference in contrast though? All of the wireless options had contrast issues. I suppose you can't get around that if the wireless signal is compressed. But if you're trying to color-match video, isn't this a deal breaker on its own - regardless of latency?
@josua2517
@josua2517 2 года назад
What firmware is your Vaxis on ? It's not easy to update but once done it reduces the latency to a point where it's not an issue anymore. I use one for clients (live music streams) and at church (for special occasions) and set audio delay on the ATEM to be somewhere between the wired and the wireless cam. We paid 300$ on aliexpress for a Kit with a softcase, for the money I'm really satisfied. I did some super source comparaisons of both, I should post it somewhere.
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell 2 года назад
I’ve checked a few times and it’s always been on the latest. It’s not just latency with the vaxis. In our setting we’ve had lots of connection issues with it.

Can I use any of these for remote gaming (in some small range local network)? Like connecting the sender to the graphic-card output and the receiver to a remotely placed screen-only setup? (not considering mouse and keyboard input) will the latency be noticeable for gaming?

@@RylandRussell what about a setup with no clear sight? Zero latency will imply high frequency and therefore bad connection through walls shouldn't it?

@@RylandRussell We have a Baptism service coming up. I think it is a perfect time to try out a wireless camera feed. I ordered an Ace 500 and a cheaper alternative (Accsoon CineEye 2S Pro) to A/B what the extra $ gets us. I would say that having to figure out what additional stuff I'm going to need, just to mount and power the Ace was annoying. Then I saw the Spark: At least some on-board battery and standard USB power option. I could see powering the Spark and a camera with one external USB battery. After I eliminate and return the CineEye, I'm probably going to try a Spark against the Ace.

The Vaxis ATOM 500 transmitter accepts standard USA HDMI video frame rates of 59.94, 29.97, and 23.976 Hz. The Vaxis ATOM 500 receiver converts these HDMI frame rates to 60, 30, and 24 Hz and cannot be configured otherwise. Failing to support standard video frame rates is UNACCEPTABLE in a product marketed for professional use in the USA.

You yourself have stated the cameras introduce latency via their HDMI ports and then you mix and match different cameras with different transmitters for the test, rendering the results spoiled. Good attempt, but you can't really use this test for anything.
@RylandRussell

At 5:30 you can see I’m only testing the latency with one camera and it’s feed being split. That way you get an accurate test of the latency.

@@RylandRussell Okay, well at 1:04 you say you "didn't go to the trouble of using all the same cameras," and at 3:55 you say "the HDMI output has about 60ms of delay," and I tuned out after that. For future videos, you may wish to include a disclaimer up front or even just redo the testing so there is no mixed messaging. Best of luck to you.
