I have recently found this channel, love it love your presenting style love the photography and the work you put into the videos it’s very much appreciated you have a fan in London.
I use to think the batman looks cooler than the sub.. but after owning both, i realise that the sub is more appealing than the batman in so many levels. I began to dislike the large fonts on the bezel of the batman and what made me sell it off is due to the fact that i realise that the blue splash of color on the gmt bezel makes it feel and look like more of a toy watch than how a classic luxury rolex watch would look..
The sub will always be a classic. I believe the Batman is simply Rolex’s first take on bringing the bicolor gmt into the modern era. It has a cool modernity to it but will never top the sub in terms of timelessness. Great points and thanks for tuning in!
That’s why I went with black Sub! I always wanted a GMT but thought I might get slightly tired from the bicolor bezel after sometime. So wanted something timeless
Each has it’s advantages. GMT-jumping hour hand for easy setting when traveling. Sub-easy link bracelet. GMT-second time zone. Sub- (IMO) the 41 mm size. I decided on the Sub and own the WG 126619. LOVE this watch.
Batgirl over Batman and the black Sub- the jubilee bracelet is awesome to wear, the GMT function is very handy, & the black & blue colors just pop- they are so eye catching, the watch will never go unnoticed!!
This 100%. If I’m paying over 10k for a watch, I want it to be as unique as possible and have that wrist presence that only the jubilee can provide imo. It catapults the luxurious feel of GMTs to new levels.
The jubilee is an upgrade, but I hate that watch geeks call it the batgirl. There is nothing girly about a jubilee bracelet. It’s just a bit dressier. The jubilee coming back to the gmt is an improvement and looks and wears great!
Great comparison of two brilliant tool watches. I personally have the 2020 41mm no date sub and the 2021 Batman on Oyster, so each has a slightly more different vibe than if I'd had the sub with date. Personal preference, but I just like the simplicity of a no dater......
Thanks for tuning in and for your support! Sounds like you have a solid collection. Totally agree with your points. I just picked up the no date sub myself. Take care and happy new year 🎆
I disagree on the Rolex 41 vs the last gen. I think the 41 wears either the same or slightly smaller because of the tapered lugs. Also, the slimmer crown guards also add to that effect
Batman- why. Polished center links makes it more special to me. The pop of blue really really is beautiful when the light is dim in a restaurant, house or outside at sunset. It is super sporty looking in direct sunlight. It sits smaller on wrist than the sub. It can track two-3 times zones, is a compass, and can even be used to track time like the sub by adjusting bezel IF you are not tracking two time zones. And still remains rugged enough to go anywhere the sub can go albeit risking some scratches on the PCLs which maybe a downside to some. Overall, anyone is blessed to own either.
I have a GMT Classic and love it! The reason I went with the Submariner is understandable; I'm a pilot! Although I'm also a diver, I wear a dive computer and would not even think of wearing a Rolex for the simple reason that if a bracelet pin goes (not an uncommon occurrence) so does the watch...to the button of the ocean! Although looks are important, I'm more interested in functionality. The GMT can be worn with a nice suit and look dressy, not so the Submariner. The GMT becomes useful any time you cross a time zone, while the rationale for wearing a Submariner on a dive , in my view, is flawed. If you dive in Florida, as I do, the moment you jump in the water you are likely to se a Barracuda. They are mostly harmless but they are definitely attracted to shiny objects! The intestines of a Cuda is not the kind of environment you want for your Rolex Submariner! Excellent video...Thanks!
GMT is 40.2mm in diameter and Sub is 40.5mm. Reason why Sub looks like it overhangs more is because its caseback sticks out more than the GMT, presumably for the 300m depth rating.
Greetings from Panama! Congrats on your channel! Really appreciate your great insight and also down to earth style and genuineness. Keep up the great work amigo!
Great review on the comparisons of both the Submariner and GMT Batman. I had the opportunity to try both on recently and my initial first pick was the Submariner, it felt great on the wrist and the gladlock feature makes it even better for quick comfort adjustments. Both wear very similar, but my pick would be the Submariner. Great video again!!!
This is Tyson/Holyfield. On any given day, either of these can win a face off. It’s just about whether you want a watch that comes right at you and punches you in the teeth (GMT), or if you prefer the workhorse, apex icon that has stood the test of time and will almost never let you down (Sub).
Thanks, good review. I will receive my batman in two weeks (hopeso)... I am not sure if it's to blinky... But on your video it looks really good. Greetings from Germany
I have the 2022 126715CHNR GMT II EverRose and a 2022 126619LB "Cookie Monster" Submariner and if I had to pick between the two, I would pick BOTH! ... lol... very different watches in many ways, yet so similar.. Overall the width of the Sub bracelet is better for me, but the GMT II with the classic size works well.
I definitely want both, but the issue is what will be made available to you by your AD, unless you are willing to buy grey market or used. They are both so hard to get from an AD so I got the Sub because that’s what my AD was able to get/allocate to me. I’m still hoping for a Batman or Pepsi GMT in time.
I thought I never would be able to purchase one at retail! Such an element of luck at play here. That’s great that you got your sub from an AD though, I’m still waiting on a call for one of those!
Happy New Year! Excellent comparison of these two amazing watches. You can't go wrong with either one. Appreciate the side by side. I'm drawn mostly to the BATMAN and love he look of the center polished links but a little concerned about how scratched up that would get vs the brushed links on the Sub. Submariner is a little less conspicuous and not quite as noticeable. Perhaps a good thing depending on where you find yourself. As for the tool aspect, I'd find the GMT's 'multiple time' more useful than the Sub's dial. Like you said- both are great - if you're lucky enough to get one. Thanks for the video.
Beautiful watches! After Daytona, two Rolex best models and certainly two with the richest history and legacy, next to Explorer. I will pick Submariner because I am looking for perfect everyday watch and, for me, Rootbeer is the most stunning GMT2 and Rolex on market now! Great video, all the best!
Thanks for tuning in and for the kind words! Excellent choice on the sub - you just can’t go wrong with a classic 😎 I would love to own the Daytona or a Rolex with gold in the future too! Cheers!
Don’t forget about the Datejust for iconic watch with rich history. I think the pantheon of iconic Rolexes is the Oyster first for making a water resistant case, then the DJ for the first with a automatic date, then the Explorer, Sub and lastly GMT. So much amazing history at Rolex.
Both are stunning tool watches and you can’t go wrong with either. I currently own the sub with the green bezel as my casual and the BLNR on a jubilee as my dress watch.
Last year I was offered the Sub (no date version) by an AD and I turned it down. I had never shown interest in it much less requested it. I bought a Batman on jubilee (The Bruce Wayne) in October after requesting it in August. So for me, the choice is easy. The only thing I like about the Sub over the Batman is the quick adjust. It's better than the Easy link system.
Batman on Jubilee is much better than an oyster. Especially in a collection. That plus a submariner is a perfect 2 hit combo. Having 2 oysters bracelets are redundant.
Thank you for the comparison. Having tried both, the 41Sub is the definitive choice. The GMT Master as Batman or Pepsi is so much louder in its appearance due to many small elements, it totally lost the appeal of a tool watch but may even be too loud as a dress watch, while the Sub goes from the beach to the boardroom easily. I think Rolex needs to rethink what the GMT should be.
While I think the oyster is a better option for the BLNR in isolation. I do like having a jubilee bracelet to provide more contrast with the sub in a collection. And perhaps.... I should have gotten the no date sub to get rid of the cyclops which they both share as well!
I agree on your point of it bringing variety to a larger collection! However for some reason the jubilee seems like a slight mismatch for the maxi lugs. Just IMO. I currently have both haha. Just picked up a no date sub, the dial is soo much cleaner. Always great to hear from you brother! Happy new year and keep creating great content 👍
@@watchyourstyle Just curious. Can your purchase a Jubilee bracelet at local AD to put on the new 41mm Sub? I always thought that would be a good looking combo.
I've had a look at my friend's Batman. Beautiful watch & I love the gmt function but I like the simplicity of the Sub & it's a strap monster. The versatility for me wins it. I'd love to add this to my collection in future & to join my Air King.
Yeah the Air King grows on you. Once you wear it around that green Rolex & yellow crown pop in the sun like no other. As for the Sub, I'd get a date. I know it's not true to the Sub history but a date function is very useful for me at work. Sign/initial....date, Sign/initial....date, repeat 100 times 😑.
Air King is an awesome watch it still trades over retail but it absolutely blows my mind it isn’t way more popular. I just recently got my first Rolex. I asked for a few models as my next watch I told them I’m not picky and the air king was one of them
As „boring“ or vanilla as the black Sub may look, it is still the most iconic watch in the whole world and for that I just love it. If you could only have one watch for every occasion possible, you should always go for a black Sub.
i find everyone has a black sub, although its a great watch.., so i have the 2022 batman with jubilee i love it and in contrast i have a 2019 james cameron deepsea. My wrist is 7.5 inch so both work for me. I have a pepsi with Oyster on order too....they should always be an oyster for its correct heritage.
Your new Batman has slight thinner lugs than the original Batman. That’s another difference other than the new movement. Bear Clooney has a comparison video showing this
Cool video! I own both the 116610LN and a 126710BLNR on Oyster. I admit they wear and come off as being similar but I love them both just the same. The Sub was my first Rolex so it holds a place in my heart forever but the Batman was the watch I've always wanted since it was released and I feel proud to own that one as well.
When I wanted to buy a sportive watch for myself, I was hesitating between this two models. Finally I decided to buy the Batman because it has a two colored bezel and one more function , and it’s also possible to dive (100 m).
Glide clasp is cool but probably never needed unless actually over a dive suit or the case of a man and woman sharing the wearing of the watch. It takes up a lot of length for a clasp (meaning way less actual bracelet.
It's a fantastically useful addition, one I use everyday..we all tend to swell in the afternoon and shrink a touch in the morning so it's easy to make quick adjustments as the day progresses as we get a little fatter 😂...wouldn't want to be without it
The price difference between these two is as high as $5,000. So the Sub is definitely a better-valued watch, considering its brushed link, and 300-meter water resistance and chrono light lume.
