Good to see that you've joined. I've figured we'll need all the help from you and all your battle-brothers to wipe out the Xenos off the face of the Earth FOR THE EMPEROR AND HUMANITY!!!!
Fun fact: The reason why the Chimera were at York was because the Cloven, another non-human faction that fights both humans and Chimera, were there and somehow manage to get the Chimera's attention. So in other words, if not for the Cloven, York would've been a somewhat cake walk.
@@Owenirving The Cloven were a failed Russian experiment in a means to create super soldiers to fight the Chimera. This only made them completely insane and cannibalistic. The Cloven fought both Chimera and humans alike using reversed engineered Chimera technology but in more advanced versions than what the Chimera were using. The Cloven also collected Grey Tech components, which were relics of another alien species that had more advanced technology than the Chimera and was used to fight them years before humans existed. Unlike both humans and Chimera who used the Grey Tech components to advance their war machines, the Cloven worshipped them. The Cloven are also known to have pictures of their loved ones from before they became the cannibalistic creatures they are now. The Cloven also place organs and blood around these photos to make shrines; because the Cloven have reversed engineered Chimeran into more advanced variations, this would make them into the most dangerous faction in the Resistance series. To prove this, a Cloven known as the Leban Geist was armed with a powerful energy cannon and shot a goliath (a Chimeran automated siege battery) multiple times and took it out in seconds. Another case is when a group of Cloven attacked a Chimeran base normally occupied by hundreds of Chimera, the aftermath would be the Cloven decimating the base in a single day, which would've been most likely impossible for the human military to do given the Chimeran being greater in numbers and different combat strains. I know this is a lot, but I just wanted to share some lore for those not familiar with the Resistance series.
Alviscerator The Ultimate was this the early form of Goliath that is small enough to fit into the London bridge or the later versions seen in iceland and the United States?
@@moonturkey25 see that's the thing I'd have thought having a war would make the tech better, like think about what we had in 1936 and then look at 1946 , leaps and bounds of improvement
I was 8 when I started playing this, couldn't keep on playing because I was too scared I think I reached chapter 3 or 4, I returned and finished it for good 8 years later, hell of a game.
It was a decent series, but I don't think it needs a remake, not anytime soon anyways. I would sooner want a new game in the series than a lot of effort put into a remake.
@@zimtak6418 cap. All they'd need to do to remaster 1&2 is give it resistance 3s gameplay (ergo, update 1&2 to 3s engine.) then put all 3 in 1 game. Have it still 3 split games that have their own split screen mode. That right there would sell like hotcakes.
Of course I'm simplifying it, but there's actually been murmurings about a year and a bit ago. It was Insomniacs twitter just doing some light teasing, in the form of them posting a photo of a resistance 2 hybrid chimaera with the text being "Feeling cute, might destroy society later" I think we'll see something from that series by 2026.
When the trailer first came out, I used to think WW2 was interrupted by the Chimera, therefore prompting a truce between the Axis and Allies with a serious jumpstart in technology. With that being said, it seems daunting that even with humanity at its best, they’re still being driven back.
There’s a book on that premise, Harry Turtledove is the author. Good stuff, shows that the Stalin was exceptionally paranoid of the truce with Hitler because of the war.
The resistance game had an interesting concept but since they try to compete with halo at the time slowly but surely kill it momentum. I still wish they had stayed with band of brothers meets Independence Day .
1st game was the best. 2nd one has some cool moments but tried to copy Halo. Resistance 3, while not bad, isn't really Resistance anymore. Feels like yet another post apocalypse rather than an alternate history military science fiction FPS.
I remember it now Christmas Day. Opening the door and seeing the ps3 and all my games and controllers just waiting for me. But I’ll NEVER forget jumping off that chopper getting right into the action. This is pure nostalgia for me 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
The aesthetic of the first game honestly was pretty nice, I enjoyed the design of the soldiers and equipment compared to the Chimera's otherworldly design that at times was unsettling. Tbh the main problem with the Resistance series in my opinion was some of the changes made after this game. I also felt Resistance 2 graphically, terms of game mechanics and taking away the horror aspect of the Chimera and turning them into a more generic sci fi overwhelming force. It was a step down compared to the first game. 3 solved those issues mostly, but the series kinda lost its thunder when you had other games propping up during its release that garnered more attention.
Yeah, they should’ve kept it as your just a regular soldier fighting in this huge war, instead of going with the whole, your part of the special forces who can change the course of the war. I really missed the large scale battles that happened in the first game, made you feel like you were fighting in a ww2 battle but with a little bit more modern weapons and aliens, gave the game more charm.
@@bowenc24 I think that as well or least have him defect and say join the Cloven undercover, just something more 1940s spy-esque rather then make a team. I personally liked the design of the enemies in this more as well, and I hated that they exchanged the Angels for Daedalus and made the story more personal, like don't get me wrong I liked Malikov, but Resistance 2 ramped up the urgency 10 fold and turned a sci fi/ww2 era game taking on an alien horde into this like.....I can't really describe it, but adding in humoungous bosses every chapter just seems right put 1950s Monster movies and kinda make the Chimeran Horde seem less important rather then have the Horde all together be scary. I really liked certain enemies like the Gray Jacks, Slipskull and even the Rollers in this game along with the Menials. Together they make the horde seem more defined and threatening as a whole rather then just individually. Fall of Man honestly was the best in the Franchise because it knew what it was and tried to be the best at that. It essentially did what Killzone did take stuff that is popular like WW2 and science fiction shooters and combine them.
This game brings back so many great memories I had as a teenager 😄 the voice acting was great, the story was great, the setting was amazing even the weapons were great 😄 the m5a2 Folsom carbine still remains as one of my top 5 favorite fictional weapons not to mention some of the chimeras weapons aswell
Both Resistance and Killzone 2 were the first games I played on PS3 after my dad came home from his 8 month work from Saudi Arabia. I do like the Early VTOL designs in this game. The US and British Military would certainly make these assets in Improving NATO Capabilities since the end of WW2.
WW2 actually didn't happen in this timeline. The ETO, an organization similar to our world's EU, was created after WW1 and more or less avoided catastrophes like the great depression and WW2. The Chimeran War is essentially this world's equivalent to WW2.
I didn't do much gaming when the series was coming out but I remember it being pretty popular. Kind of surprised we haven't gotten some kind of HD remastering of it by now.
Loved this games, wish 2&3 kept the large scale battles from the first. They were the best parts of the first one. 2 kinda of had them but not as common.
the way to enjoy the most this game its playing on hard or the hardest with it unlocks after you beating the game on hard, its get super tense in hard difficulty and the gameplay its amazing
Resistance from a design perspective: uniforms late 40’s early 50’s U.S Marines Guns are one of a kind this franchise has it’s own way of presenting itself. I just feel like Resistants Fall of man of 100% and With Resistance 2 I could clearly see that the whole world went through a huge design change... somethings should stay original so the fans can reminisce about the previous game
Guns: The Carbine is supposed to represent the go to weapon in WW2 which was the M1 Grand (U.S Military) The Bull-eyes is the weapon that the Chimera used (correct me if I’m wrong) Shotgun was my personal favorite the design team made sure to make it look original. I can’t name all the weapons at the moment but every weapon has it’s characteristic and all weapons are used in different fighting situations.
The Resistance series is one of my all time favorite franchises. Every game was great and so much fun to play. (except for the Vita title, that one was trash and I/We shall never mention it again...) I just wish they'd remaster the series or at least give it a reboot seeing as the first one was rushed as a launch title and never gained the huge audience it deserved. The lore was fantastic and still has me wanting more, and the books were so good in describing the world they were in and Nathan's story between Resistance:FoM and Resistance 2. I wish I could get a SRPA Uniform and just hang it up in my room as display, those Suits and masks were badass.
Man this game brought so much nostalgia back. Me and my now passed nephew playing on my brothers ps3 on his new plasma tv. Inreally love this series and forgot all about its definitely in my top 5 games of all time Also this dude is such a bot 😂
i used to play this game and its following parts 2 and 3 all the time until the servers where sadly shut down :I was a great game rest in peace Resistence series :(
This is the kind of alien invasion style story that annoys me because the aliens are very inconsistent as far as power, one second they can wipe out a platoon in 30 seconds with little effort the next 4 guys with the exact same equipment as that platoon are tearing through them with ease
Man I love this game resistance 1 2 and 3 are one of my favorite games. you know I still wanna know what happened to london you know during Resistance 2 and 3 I wonder if they also fall like the rest of the world the british soldiers and all that
Wish they would bring this series back! Was my favorite PS exclusive game series! A sequel reboot would be awesome, cause everything about this alternate timeline of humanity is just so cool. The guns, the vehicles, the Chimera. How the soldiers are wearing WWII uniforms, and have these modified BARs with under barrel grenade launchers. I remember this game giving such a sense of despair, like it really felt like a fight for the remnants of humanity. The Chimera were genuinely terrifying creatures. I also love how the story of Nathan Hale is narrated from the past tense in the cut scenes, as if they didnt know exactly what happened, like there is some mystery to it all. But at the same time, you get to see what actually happened, as you play the game and the past sequence of events reveals itself. Great story telling, great FPS game play. One of my all time favorites! The multiplayer was also pretty fun! Playing as Chimera or the US army, battling it out. Very fun game!
I literally wore out the disc playing and replaying this game. Interestingly when you do that the developers have messages saying various things like "wow you've played it 20 times would you like to be a game tester?"or something like that.
