@@thewest6128 It is better. Look at how the walls collapse in both games. In BC2, once the rocket explodes, a large chunk of the wall disappears almost instantly, while in 2042 the walls collapse realistically and stay there as well. Longer smoke was also used to potentially distract from issues in loading the effects.

@@andreivieira Nope that would be bf 2 era though it went up until bf bc 2 every bf game after bf bc 2 has just gone downhill. Bf2 expansions where amazing adding new factions and game modes. Then I also miss the reload aircraft you have to go close to the airfields and you got limited ammo in with the aircraft. I also loved the two seats aircraft.

The destruction hasn't been downgraded, literally demonstrated that they get destroyed pretty much the same, smoke linger is the only real difference, but i don't see too much of an issue since the new game also has it but not as extremely long.

The smoke is to hide the walls instantly disappearing rather than crumbling apart. Same way bloom was over-used to hide the low resolution skyboxes.

oh ok thanks for the explanation guys! also i do wish the newer maps (outside of portal) had more buildings that were destructible, they seemed to go with more metal than brick this time around

I feel that way too. I don't care how realistic the graphics are, it's a game and I want it to have it's own atmosphere. The graphics back then were simple but virtually everything had a practical use for the gameplay. Nowadays a lot of details have been added that don't add any such value to the game, sometimes it's actually distracting. For example: in BC2 you can shoot a rocket at a wall and jump right into the building. In the Portal version instead there's so many debris flying around - it's amazing from a graphics point of view but it deprives or at least distracts the player from such possibilities.

Photorealism actually makes it difficult to perceive depth and distance readily, which makes gameplay tedious. Exploration games go well with it, but competitive sucks.

Nah bad company 2 is way more photo realistic. Cartoonish exaggeration isn’t real in BC2. Real life has just as much detail

Bruh, they barely finished simple things from main game like scoreboard, imagine do that..they probably could do that in a future battlefield, also adding orignal hud to be even more imersive, they better invest in portal, because is the future of battlefield!

You got it wrong. Is not that those 10 year old graphics are impressive, sadly is that B2042 graphics have not seen the upgrade we all hoped for.

I have been watching some bf3/bc2 comparisons vs bf2042. Bf2042 seems to have nicer grass physics and water reflections and that's about it. The detail of the destruction(chunks on walls rolling on the ground in bf3/dust in the air in bc2),the overall art style,the detail of the terrain and some buildings,those are actually worse in 2042 compared to over decade old games lol.

@@megaslayercho I agree also I find 2042 to be alot darker and to be honest alot of games are getting darker it's hard to see players even in the day. I wish they just made another battlefield 2142 game like the old one that was a cool futuristic game

2042 is the only battlefield that i have no reason to play. Just awful...

That thought didn't occur to my mind about the missing stationary weapons in the badco2 maps, and yes that dust effect was great

Not sure but I don't think they have the tow missile, the M136AT4 (laser guided missile launcher), destruction in BC2 is better because the buildings collapse when damaged enough(2042 just deletes the walls on most all buildings except the houses. I think houses collapse in 2042), and gunplay at least in Bad Company 2 is different. In Bad company 2 guns kicked but there was no bullet spread in 2042 there's bullet spread and bullets just go in random locations(like BF1). Whether you like the 2042 version of BC2 gunplay more is up to you. But this isn't a true "remaster" since they ignored core aspects of the original gameplay. Don't get me wrong it's still a decent looking experience but they changed a lot of core aspects and are missing tons of features in Portal. BF3 has some missing stuff too. I think they need to add those in updates. Especially that M136AT4. The attack helicopter is missing too but it wasn't on these maps so it's ok. It circle strafes like the one in 2042 so they unintentionally got the flight physics for bc2 right lol. I hope they fix what I mentioned and add more content/maps from BC2, BF3, and 1942

all maps on 2042 from past battlefields are changed a bit since the years have past. They have aged and things have changed after 20 years

@@HansKlopek tf are you talking about. the portal version of bc2 literally has the classic weapon behavior from the original game. plus all the new maps you can essentially fix the bullet deviation and play bc2 on a crazy improved engine and graphic level on 10 maps youve never played bc2 on before. so damn dramatic

Really is! Games companies must be working with hardware companies to enforce planned obsolescence. I could play BFV at 2k high+ settings, on my r9 390 w/ Ryzen 2800x and get a steady 80fps but somehow my gpu isn't compatible with BF2042 . Bullsh*t if you ask me

I mean, that's the point of portal. Making the same experience but on a different platform and engine.

Better physics, graphics and textures and design, that's literally every upgrade because that's the point, it's a remaster basically, it's bringing the old with new better overall graphical and texture upgrades and designs, it's literally what most of those old school players want, the same game but better visually more up to date, why you acting like it needs to be different, isn't that defeating the point of it being a true recreation and or exact copy ?

Raion Shishi I think both of you didn’t understand my point. BFBC2 was an awesome game, and there’s little to be touched on it, but what could be “touched” and improved (destruction engine, more weapons, more customization with more attachments...) hasn’t been done. I understand the purpose of the BF Portal, but the only thing they have done is make BFBC2 worse. Gunplay is much worse with those Airsoft guns, the HUD is horrible, the changing attachments during the game, the bright palette colors of the visuals... so, they have put the worst of the BF2042 into BFBC2 now. The only improvement you can speak about is graphics in the end, and that’s the minimum to expect from a new game

No don’t think so at least not in 2042 proper but in portals it might be possible since they’re different games but in the 2042 all out war or the version that’s set in 2042 there’s no fully destructible buildings that will collapse down so no sorry I’m kind of disappointed too

It's a remaster, not a complete overhaul of graphics. Ripple effect didn't implement that many graphical updates because they did not want to stray away from what made the map so great in the first place. Haven't you seen the newer maps and what they look like? Alot better textures and lighting, along with the level of scale and weather effects. The difference is night and day

Personally doubt it. Haven't played the game myself, but from what I've seen, the destruction is a lot more simplistic this time around.
