Yoyoyo can you do a video on race tactics from a breakaway riders perspective. I know a lot of things have to go right for one to stay away. As a triathlete who really feels most comfortable solo riding breakaways are my best chance to win. I've seen a breakaway win when going at the start of the race, middle, and end. Is it just a matter of keep trying and eventually one will stick? The most curious thing about the breakaway for me is the mindset of that rider. If they dig to much the first 10-15 minutes off the front then they can't negative split their watts for the back half of the race. So many factors.. Race distance, group dynamics, teams, aero position etc.
@elijg6104
@elijg6104 2 года назад
There are a couple basic things to note - generally harder courses (technical and windy) favor breakaways while easy courses favor a field sprint. Sometimes a break just isn't going to work. Second, knowing when to attack is key, ideally at a time when people can't follow, either because you're going too fast for them to chase, the course is too technical at that point, or they don't have the legs.
@maartends6051
@maartends6051 2 года назад
it isnt always a negative split and they are mostly not watching their watt's. tips: know if/what the big teams are, if the big teams are in the break you should try to be in it try to be in a group not solo, if you have no sprint than wait for the last 3-5 km's and attack from the break if you do it earlier you risk to make the break disfunction try to do a smooth as posible rolling system with the break know where to attack, crosswind, hills, technical section , when the peleton slows down if the peleton lets you go, dont go all out make sure to leave something in the tank so when they accelerate at the end for the sprint finish to catch the break you can press on the stay in front know that if you stay a couple of seconds in front of the peleton you loose your energy and are screwed

I’d like this too, although…I feel like the better option is for us to find our local high-level racers and ask them in person. I have the feeling this is one of those things that people who don’t race would look at and say “you shouldn’t do that, it’s racing dirty”.

To those commenting about “the rider in black.” That’s Steve Reaney…he’s in his 50s and finished 5th/60. Yeah he got argy-bargy with the Ride Bikes dude, but they were both riding within their abilities. What was scarier was all the tire blowouts in the rain gutters causing riders to straighten up or suddenly lose a ton of speed at pinch points.

ouch! what a great finish though. Great to see you back firing. I was going to go to Intelligentsia but can't anymore. Hopefully you'll have lots of content I can live through! the second to last right turn i thought you MIGHT have had a spot to jump ahead of Tobin. at the 9:36 mark. If you punched it on the right, gone a little tighter. Seemed a bit "better" than the spot you called out. But I'm also sitting on a couch watching this lol and as you said, you could have gone out, Tobin see you and get closer to the wheel ahead, and then you're screwed 'cause you'd have lost your spot. I don't think changing the last lap strategy would be worth it if you could.

We are seeing less and less races in WA state. Might have been 6 up here with a couple stage races. It's a problem. What are your thoughts on moving to closed motorsports race track environment for weekend races?
@kidsafe
@kidsafe 2 года назад
We don’t have “club level” circuits nearby. The closest tracks are Sears Point (or whatever it’s called now) and Laguna Seca. Both would be very expensive to book for bike races. Pacific Raceways up in WA and Austin’s Driveway Series simply aren’t feasible down here. We used to have once a month office park crits in Livermore, but there was drama with that promoter and those are gone.
