BATWOMAN 2x17 REVIEW | Kate Is Finally Officially the Bad Guy 

Writers: Kate’s the bad guy? EFAP: Always has been. Bonus: so Ryans insistence on “burning it all down” led to a crime organization becoming only more powerful? Good going Ryan.

It literally feels like the writers made an OC and now they’re gonna have her beat up an established character just to prove how cool their OC is.

So...the criminals are criminals, the police are criminals, and the superheroes are ALSO criminals. Gotham is screwed.

At least she’ll pull off being a villain better than being a hero, since she’s been terrible at it as Batwoman while just being SLIGHTLY more competent than Ryan.

I love the fact that Ryans success in tearing down the crows, including those who were just doing their job, resulted in now all of them now becoming criminals. Even the non-corrupt ones.

The 'storm' Zafiya was referring to was season 3. She took a peek at the script and wanted to leave as soon as possible. The fatal in her plan was asking Alice to come with her, and now that Zafiya's been stabbed by the coma knife, the chances of her being in season 3 has gone up.

Because that sure as hell would make 100 % perfect sense even WITHOUT ANY retconns. These two series are perfect villain origin stories for both Batwomen at this point...

Welp. There it is. They finally beat whiteness. Kate is the villain and whatever-the-black-woman's-name-was has officially become the hero! Racial justice! Yes! Slay! Brave and stunning!

I just rewatched *The Dark Knight* like 4 hours ago. Bruce went to Fox asking for a more mobile and agile suit. He wanted to be able to turn his head etc and asked if there were any lighter materials they could be using. Fox answered that yes there is but it *will leave you with a weaker defence against bullets and knives* and even dog bites. There was actually a consequence, gaining more speed and agility came with less armor. Being an actually good movie, not wasting Chekhovs gun, Batman is later both shot by Harvey Dent and attacked by Joker's Rottweilers and it was a problem. Remember when script writing was actually considered a skill? Those were good times.

I don’t know if anyone else saw this: There is no Circe in Kate. Circe’s soul is not trapped in Kate, nor is her mind. You can’t change someone’s name and they just magically gain all their character traits. This is just NOT a thing. Kate actually decided to go with Black Mask because it is KATE that realized she is a villain at heart, and a villain’s way of life was far more enticing to her personality. There is no Circe, it was entirely Kate that decided to turn on her friends. Thank you, show, for making Kate’s true self clear.

Re: the picture at the start. I'm certain that's just the actresses playing around behind the scenes...but I wouldn't put it pass the writers to make something out of it.

Makes me shake my head that I as a self-published/small press author will go back to my notes and prior chapters just to recall the eye color of a supporting character, yet these Hollywood writers can't bother to double-check any aspect of their plot/characters to maintain consistency and continuity. Talk about not giving a rat's ass about your work.

I'm still questioning on why did the GCPD and Black Mask try to set up Ryan with Snakebite injectors when they could arrest her for stealing private property which she has in her hands and they could prove, they could have done it the legal way so when Ryan tries to say that she was being set up, they have the evidence they would need to say "No Ryan, you did steal the computer, stop lying." But no, we needed to have Ryan be a victim somehow when all/most of the accounts that she had been arrested were justifiable.

They cancelled Black Lightning, but they keep this crap going?? I know BL was a bit woke, but at least it had a decent plot, some nice fight scenes and some sort of character development. Not nearly as bad as this show! Batwoman makes BL look like a masterpiece, fr!

I'm honestly burned out, this show used to make me feel so angry and annoyed now I feel nothing. Don't get me wrong I hate the whole "Defund cop" episode but we all knew it was coming when they made the lead black and the episode was so predictable it was boring. I don't know how anyone can be invested in this garbage? Aside from the characters being annoying and the romance so bad it makes twilight look good, their are no real stakes all the villains are non threating and have proven to be incompetent so no real threat their. And since we know the "writer" won't kill a gay we new Kate is in no danger so whats the point in watching this?

Which, if true, goes to shows that even for all the shite in casting on CW shows, they DO get it right once in a while. Mind you, I am not saying that she will be good in the role or that the script will magically become good or the show, for that matter. They wrapped up every single one of her plot points and stuffed all the characters she related too in the fridge.Then made Kate replace her as the quirky villain. Maybe they're afraid Rachel Skarsten's gonna pull a Ruby Rose and quit after this season? I dunno.

Duh, the only legitimate Bat Woman is Barbara Gordon. Anyone else is an imposter.

I will give the writers credit because using magical healing cream is a step up from an ass mask made of ass, but that credit is taken right away because that opens up a jar of new problems like why is black mask a street thug when his healing cream would make him richer than the big pharma cartell! That is revolutionary to mankind!

Man, the writers couldn't even pull off a "lowest point" episode. Oh, but I guess they don't want to hurt their precious "heroes" too much. Couldn't bring themselves to write these characters being crippled or devastated so bad that they wonder if they'll ever get out of it. Not that these characters were written in such a way that the audience would care. Still, this was the best they could do? "Tis but a flesh wound"?

Man it’s sad, you have a lot of good commentary that points out the illogical sequence and lack of thought that goes into show, and even the method used to talk about race is clumsy but the reality is very real and people died from it, shame.

So first Black Mask blamed Batwoman for the death of his daughter. And then he captures Kate Kane and has her brainwashed into thinking she's Cersi. Now the writers are saying that she was Cersi the whole time? You know the "Easy" button that Staples had? I think the writers have a similar button labelled "Retcon" and they just keep hitting it for every episode.

You know the truth of the matter is and I hate to say this because I know the writers of this show are not this smart but if they really wanted to pull this off in a really brilliant "no one saw it coming way" they could basically say that this new version of Kate is actually clayface because think about it clayface can look like anybody you want to which since they couldn't get Ruby Rose to come back inserting this new actress and saying it's Kate Kane with changes to her body and adding the whole storyline of her looking differently but it's still Kate and the memories and all that she had could be basically because Black Mask decided the only way to take out batwoman is to hire someone that can get on the inside of batwoman's team and destroy them from within so they get clayface and come up with this whole plot line of Kate still being alive even though the skull fragment says she's dead, to look like her and then begin to explain why she's different and also her being taller but nobody really mentioning it could play into us the viewer catching on that she not really Kate and suddenly it all makes it seem a lot smarter because now Kate is dead and new Kate is not Kate but everyone thinks she's Kate and she could still be the villain I mean so far that would be the best thing that's happened in this show and that's saying a lot😳 Oh and not to mention the fact that you kind of already called this if it does wind up happening
