I just bought one yesterday based on how well you liked your Baxter air file sander. I haven't got to try mine yet, so glad to see it works so well. I appreciate all the videos you have on your channel. I have watched all your mustang videos multiple times and have learned so much! Thanks for all you do, Scott.

Got one for myself today and I’m shipping one to my buddy who builds custom Mopars as well. He will love it. Used mine today to get ride if the inner weld seam on square metal tubing so a smaller piece can slide inside a bigger piece but the seam inside needed blander down.

Thanks for the video. You are the only one I could find on this tool and helped me make my decision to get it. I have been working on a sand rail with some pretty hard to get to places to grind down.

I told you that you would love that tool. The one we had a my old work we wore it out we used it so much. You will find yourself reaching for it all the time. In some places the disc grinder is intimidating like when you are lying under the car and it is between you and the floor of the car. The injuries from a grinder can be pretty horrible. I really can not say enough good about that finger sander really. Glad you got one!

Barry, Very nice tool for tight jobs and those are some great looking welds. I to really like it clean and safe, so if you have the time and the tool for the job, go for it. Those spot welds from dyacorn are terrible, but at age 9, they get better! Blessing from NE. ASE Master - Retired

Everybody in my part of town has seen your video! Harbor Freight has sold out of all of these air belt files and metal belts at least 1/2” X 18”. I ask the manager and he said they could sell 12 more when they get in… “Who is this Joe Daddy guy?” He asked. Close, but you should send him a commission! DK, Omaha! P.S. Waiting for mine but also buying 3M Cubitron II belts as the are ceramic, self-sharping (We Shall See) but everyone says they last 3 times longer! New video!!!

i work at a body shop and this type of belt sander is used all the the, no more drilling out spot welds they just grind them out, leaves a nice smooth place for new parts to be spot welded back in, we use 60 grit belts, we have had courser belts but find they have their grit torn off too easy, next time i'm near a HF i'm buying a Baxter.

love my little belt sander.. i used mine for the exact same thing on my car.. those suspension brackets are tough to get to. btw, you can get a 20 pack of belts off amazon for about $20 prime. they have 36-220 grit. Red Label Abrasives is who makes them. *edit - aaaannnndddd, you mention belts and yours are a much better deal.. added yours to my wish list for next time. thanks. also, the winner is running the same paint gun setup i'll be going to. gotta order my FLG4 when it comes time to throw color on my car.

Hey Barry. This tool has been on my wish list for a while. Looks like I am going to be making a stop at HF this weekend. If you are not already familiar with the 4.5 inch flappy disks I suggest you give them a try. They are a must have for grinding welds on flat surfaces. They work fast and leave a uniform flat surface for welds that are undetectable.

I think there's a thing out there called an oil cartouche. Goes in line before the tool, and releases oil in minute quantities each time you stop the tool. I think one fill (you fill it) lasts something like 40 uses.

Great informative video. I actually just purchased one tonight on the way home from work. I’ve been looking at the Baxter tools. They are one of the nicest lines at Ha rbor freight . I was looking at the cheaper option but this one felt so nice in my hand and the features are nice . I’m thinking this tool would be great for polishing...getting into tight spots. Maybe someone will offer polishing belts . Great tool . 👍

I have the Astro version of this belt sander tool , from Auto Body Tool Mart Works great! Besides sanding down welds, they work fantastic for cutting through factory’s spot welds for panel separation ! Rather than the drill bit style fluted spot weld cutters ! I use the purple 3-M belts , they last ten times longer than the cheaper Harbor Freight belts, worth the extra cost!

I've had Harbor Freights Chicago Electric version of this sander years ago. The tool itself was OK, but the problem I had was with the sanding belts that HF was selling. They would easily break after only a short period of time. Unless the current version of belts are also an improved version, I would shy away from this tool.
@HomeGrownPyro1

So spend the extra money and get some 3m brand sanding belts for it. They are more money but easily last 3x as long

Looks like a decent tool. I have a sincere question: does grinding the dome off spot welds ultimately weaken the joint?
@JoDaddysGarage
@JoDaddysGarage 4 года назад
It does not. The weld is made by contact with the base metal, and the added piece. Welding the hole shut makes it a solid weld.

That deflecter I don't think its mainly for.deflecting debris that's just a secondary use. Its more for.protecting your finger or knuckles for when or if the belt breaks and comes swing off.and whipping your fingers. Think about it .how.much debris will or even possibly could it deflect even if in a perfect world. Lol
