@Petesquad I am calm, “luck” is when your talent and preparation meet the opportunity. If Cech was not the professional he was, that penalty was going in.
@jasuulaa "chealsea played such a bad football, but they won, so they deserve it".....wow what a logic...hope your team will lose the same way and someone tell you that, one of the most undesered titles ever in football history.....drogba and lampard did nothing whole game, drogba scores the important goal and now he is a "legend"....omg.....when i read opinions like that i get rly mad...did you watch the complete game? this game was a disgrace
@jasuulaa i like defensive art. and this game was rated on top5 amazing game ever in C1. They destroyed the tiquitaca at this time. also attack storm from Bayern. What a team!
Drogba is THE MOST ALPHA footballer in the world. He just never gave up, never, he was WAYYYY past his prime yet he still Tried His Best. A True Underdog Story.
@@assideo uno I just read that story. It's funny cuz after drogba left, Mata was my favourite. An old dog losing hope but the youngster comes in to help. It's so beautiful.
@@MrTHEend654 past his best nah he was still quality ... he definitely was not at his Marseille form and the 09 double winning season but he definitely found something deep inside like in the Chicago Bulls doc or When We Were Kings and basically dragged Chelsea by the bootstraps to greatness at a time they would never reach again to be honest.
If you’re a Chelsea fan and you survived that UCL season you have a metal heart. Dramatic qualification from group stage, dramatic path to the finals, and dramatic penalties omg what a season that was
Cech managed to achieved prophethood level though lol. Look at Schweinsteiger's penalty, Cech literally told him where to kick. People said Cech always guessed right during that match, but I think he was the one telling them which way to kick. Dude was as calm as water he became mirror.
@@mrflyyo honestly saying I like both of these teams but I wanted Chelsea to win more, because it was probably the last chance for lampard drogba and terri to win CL
He was absolute TRASH as a Manager, the players won this CL, NOTICE even Abramovich just looked at him like (ugh now I have to wait for another moment to sack you)
@@AGCcachanilla I wouldn't say absolutely trash, he just wasn't a big club material. RDM still did a good job to held the team spirit and gameplans together. It was very good for tournament format but unfortunately not enough for the regular league season format. He deserves credit.
This is Di Matteo's only title with FA Cup at Chelsea, what are you talking about? Where is Di Matteo now? It's not level like Tuchel or Mourinho. In fact we played finals until Tuchel came only with interim managers, Avram Grant and Roberto Di Matteo, managers that had no carrers, average managers. Tuchel was 1st world class manager that went into the CL final and won it with Chelsea. No matter what Tuchel did, I would be always grateful to him at winning 2nd one.
Bubba lol its not chelsea didn‘t even deserve it look at the stats of the game hahaha chelsea 2012 is considered the luckiest to ever win the cl final their fiirst corner was the first shot on target and thats in the 89. min bayern was dominating the game
@@robbery7104 Mate matches aren't just won because of how many shots on target you have. Sure chelsea had 1 corner but they made it count when it was needed. Bayern had more chances but history say's Chelsea won and that's all that matters. As a Chelsea fan i couldn't careless whether we created less chances than them only that we won. Thats all that matters, the rest is irrelevant
Well actually one player of each team had to get tested and he was the one picked out of random he said it an interview but your comment is funnier so maybe I should shut up 😂
People still don't understand or comprehend how much this win meant for us... Drogba, lamps, JT, Cole, Cech.... If you were a Chelsea fan these guys we're your heroes when you were a kid....and now we were all seeing that they were nearing the end of their careers... We'd slowly come to realise we may not see them as team anymore... And there was just one trophy eluding us.... The heartbreak of 2008 was still fresh Avb was sacked mid season and di Matteo with no coaching experience was made our head coach.... We were terrible in PL not even qualified for the CL we had lost 3-1 Napoli in the round of 16 1st leg... Our big players Drogba, lamps etc were sidelined by avb and then..... We come back and win 4-1 against Napoli against all the odds... Then we square up benifica in the quarter finals and we think ok, we may just win the QF but anything more is outrageous.... The semi finals... Who do we get 2012 BARCA!!!!! This was their prime tiki taka era... And this version of messi had scored 91....NINETY ONE GOALS in a calendar year.... 1st leg we had absolutely no possession we still manage a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.... But we know what awaits us at camp nou.....in the 2nd leg our captain leader legend gets sent off for such a childish foul.... We can't believe he got caught in a moment like this... Then bang bang barca are 2-0 up..... Now we are trailing against the best Barca side who continuously getting shots on target, we can't even get a touch of ball and we're down to 10 men!.... And suddenly out of nothing we win the ball back and lamps clear cut pass to ramires who runs down and chips it over valdes.. 2-1 !!.... Messi gets a penalty it's all over we think....HE MISSED!!!!!!!!!!.......The atmosphere is camp nou is roaring and we're just hoping we can get til the penalties.... Then a miss firing Torres is on for Drogba.... There goes our penalty chances at this point we're not just parking the bus we're parking the tank and yet we are unable to cope with barca... And there it was one moment of overconfidence from barca one moment to cease it all... All barca players including a aging puyol is in our half.... Cole gets the ball and just smashes it front.... Fernando Torres still had some of his speed left and puyol is unable to catch.... There's nothing between Torres and the goal except Valdes.... But we've seem him miss far too often..... He rounds up valdes and slots it in We just couldn't believe it against all the odds not only did we hold on.... We triumphed we were in... We are going to the finals.... But it also slowly started creeping on us..... We were facing a powerful Bayern side in their own stadium without JT and Ivanovic . .. It would be a 4-5 month fresh di Matteo vs the extremely experienced and tactful Jupp Heynckes And the rest is history
@@gavinperry8433 even at 2-1 you wouldn't have gone to penalties. You won 1-0 at stamford bridge. That means the total score was 2-2, where Chelsea had one away goal and Barca had 0. Then when torred scored, total score went to 3-2 for Chelsea.
And now after 9 years we are making a comeback.....i cannot wait for the final, hope we can wint it tuchel 2-0 against pep already hope we can win aswell at this final.
The Barcelona semi-final was crazy, they were all over us, shots cleared off the line, red card, posts and crossbars my heart nearly exploded. When Torres scored I ran outside celebrating around the block. I swear justice was served. I hated barca with a burning passion for that night in 09
That 2012 semi final was karma for the 2009 robbery. That so called great Barcelona side would never even be spoken of if it weren’t for the help of the referees in 2009.
If you are a chelsea fan, we all agree that it was our most dramatic season. We had difficult time in PL, the half fans wanted AVB out while other half still believe him. Then, RDM came. He had a massive task to reverse the agg againts Napoli. We did it! Many pundits comments about how we celebrate, exagerrated they said. But i saw other thing, Passion. True passion. Credit to RDM for giving our boy their's mental back. In PL, Torres still has his personal struggles. Rivals fans cannot stop mocking at him, the medias made it even worst. Tbh, the medias very cruel to him that days and people keep making fun at him. That was a huge burden to Torres. In UCL, we kicked Benfica. Its a tough game. Until Meireles (their former player) scored a banger for us. Still, nobody counting us as title contenders. Its Barcelona, its still in my head how Iniesta made The Bridge full of tears on 2009. Of course, how Ballack chasing and shouting to Ovrebo. Yes, we had bad memories about Barca. But, the boys come and play with iron mentality. Drogba won us the 1st leg. Yall need to know, at that time, the rumour bout it could be Drogba last season in Chelsea are blown up. At Camp Nou, it was crazy night. Barca scores and Terry sent off. Lampard took the armband. Then there was a moment Lampard stole the ball from Messi and gives it to Ramires. Cool. Ramires Finish it with chip. Its Messi trademark but it wasn't him this time. Rami gave our hopes back. In second half, we knew Barca will do anything to score. But, the way we defense made me cry, seriously. I see the passion. We know Barca. We know Nou Camp. We know Messi, and Xaviesta at their prime + Fabregas + Sanchez. Monster. Barca had penalty. Oh no here we go again! Messi took and miss. In the future, Messi's curse become popular. He can scores to anyteam but not Chelsea with Big Pete. Cech made some terrific saves. Ivanovic was rock, even Drogba did some good clearance. Till that time, when Puyol's header were wide. Cole got the ball and sent it forward. Torres was there, only him. Only him, and his burden. Finish. He scored a monumental goal. We are flying to Munich. Slowly, people begn to believe us. But we knew, it was far from easy. Bayern were onfire with names like Robben, Ribery, Muller. Mario Gomez were killer by the time. Neuer at his prime. The most important thing, they play at home. Seems imposibble. Oh yea, we couldn't play our captain, our leader. That night at Munich. Bayern fans very threaten us, that noise. As if they know they will lift the Big Ear that night. It brings confident to Bayern players. Muller and Gomez had many attempts. But Chelsea as it known, Chelsea's defence were the best. Bus parking whatever they said. Second half, we created some chances. But Bayern become the first side to score. Kroos found Mueller's head. Its Lampard job here to maintain the mental from our boys. Torres come for Kalou. Then, we got a corner kick. The only one corner kick we had in entire game. Mata took it, Drogba run and boomm! Who Else? The King. Game on. I couldn't remember special occasions in extra time except Robben's pen. How Chelsea fans putting their hands on their backhead, and then punching againts the sky after Cech at it again. Save. Penalty shootout. Bayern took first kick and made no mistake. Mata were our first. He was our best player at that time, magician. Miss! a flash of a nightmare in Moscow crossed my mind. Even Neuer became next Bayern's penalty taker as if teaching Mata how to take penalty. But we all lucky had Cech in our side. This man show his hand of god and cancelled 2 Bayern's Penalties + 1 in ET. Drogba came for the very last kick, the kick that will be all chelsea fans remember. The kick that sent Neuer wrong way. We are European King! We done it. After what we been through. Incosistency in PL, Torres burden, Drogba contract... all gone. Tears of joy. Finally Mr. Roman, you had one. We can see Terry and Lampard lifting the trophy together as usual. Tradition. Even Torres who always looks cool, he climbed the goal. Drogba running the big ear with wide smile like a child. Lampard kiss the trophy with pride. Big smile from Roman. Big smile from all Chelsea fans. The Blue Flag Flying High. I will remember this forever. I am number one Chelsea fans in Indonesia, the whole world maybe.
Sumpah emang dramatis banget waktu itu. Tegang terus gua sepanjang waktu nonton itu. Sampai drogba ngegolin terakhir teriak gua sekencang-kencangnya padahal lagi nonton dirumah dan orang2 dirumah udah pada tidur wkwk. Moment yang paling tak terlupakan dahh pokoknya
Im a Liverpool fan but I supported Chelsea this game because I wanted a EPL team to win and I felt sorry for this great Chelsea squad, it was nice to see legends like Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Cech, Torres etc to win the ucl
Thanks! And as a Chelsea fan I'm definitely going to support your team in the final, you deserve to win it after this incredible performance against Barcelona :)
@@makaveli7145 He eas speaking to his boss and was referring to a previous discussion about his ability to coach the team. He was right saying, "I won it". Context is important here.
Por lo menos chelsea entre City y el PSG le sirvio el tener mucho dinero $$$ y gano champions y europa league pero siguen bajo la sombra del LIVERPOOL Y M.UNITED
I'm not even a Chelsea fan but I remember that season well. Written in the stars kind of stuff. Watched the final in a bar and was the only one who quietly wanted Chelsea to win, everyone else was cheering Bayern. Drogbaaaaaaa aaaaah
Almost 9 years later the feeling doesn't die... I remember falling to my knees in disbelief and crying and all of us Chelsea fans hugging each other knowing we had reached Utopia...
I will never forget this night in my life. 19/may/12 Me and my friend sneaked out of our boarding school that night in Abuja, Nigeria to watch this unbelievable match at a viewing centre. I lost my voice after that header by Drogba, and after Cech's penalty save I knew we were going to be champions. The boys were waiting for us to return with the news and when we got back with good news and reviews we all celebrated, we were all happy for our brothers Drogba, Mikel, Kalou, Essien and for Chelsea. We still talk about that night till this day. I'm a fan forever. Thank you Chelsea.💙💙 UPDATE: WE DID IT AGAIN! CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE 2021💙💙💙
Still can’t believe Ryan Bertrand played and won in a Champions League Final and now is Battling Relegation to The Championship what a good 7 years cam do to you
Drogba was so smart with that penalty. He was pumped, buzzing his nuts off with adrenaline as soon as that whistle went so did didier and neur didn’t have time to think, the fact that he moved at all is testament to how good his actual reflexes are
I’m American and one day I saw this game was on tv and I had nothing else to watch so I decided to put it on because I used to play when I was young. It might have been a replay but I thought it was live and watched the whole game just absolutely mesmerized. This was incredible first game to watch even tho I didn’t know how big this game was. I’ve been watching football ⚽️ ever since. I love it more than the NFL and I’ll love it till the day I die.
@@hasanrahman1549 yeah... also... he still played too defensive... we saw that in the super cup when they got hammered. Instead of playing the 4-2-3-1, he could've used a 4-3-3...
I remember that night clearly, I was shouting at 2 a.m and woke up my parents. I didn't even care when they beat my a** with a stick, I told them I accept the punishment but at least leave the TV on so I can see the team raise the trophy.
I still remember watching this game until 3:30 am in the morning.. Me and my dad woke the whole house up when that Drogba penalty went in.. Christ i was in tears.. Ive never felt anything like this in my life back then when i was 19.. Both me and my dad are such massive Chelsea supporters and this moment was one of the greatest moments we shared together as Father and son during a time when our relationship was almost in shambles.. Chelsea was one of the biggest factors which helped me mend my relationship with my father and I am grateful to death to this amazing club.. Thank you and Up Chelsea
9:23 mental battle between Cech and Schweinsteiger. Both were trying to add feints, but Cech performed it faster, and the poor german got his mentality destroyed, even his feint didn't manage to shake Cech. Instead he unconsciously put the ball to the side feinted by Cech earlier. Reminds me so much of the final scene in Kung Fu Kid (Karate Kid) where the antagonist got unconsciously controlled by the mc's calmness.
non-chelsea fans will forever said that torres is a flop at chelsea...but for me he is the player that all chelsea fans will forever remember if not a legend at least as someone that contribute when the team need him
Munkhbileg N Have patience my friend soon we will be back to compete for the champions league we just need to be patient, mock my words we will be back is just going to take time with the young players we have right now.KTBFFH!🔵🔵
actually if dortmund had a bit more luck in 2013 they lose the finals in 2013 aswell. Dortmund played so good in the first half they just couldnt find the lead.
I was screaming alone in my house when we played this match, so many emotions in the game, the goal disadvantage, the drogba goal, the penalty saved by cech, the penalties….what a game, football truly something special….second one was more equally but the first always going to be special….let’s go Chelsea we will bounce back this hard a times.
i had never seen any european football match before this. i was 14 at the time. this final is the first match i saw and man o man what a match. that day onward i am a chelsea fan
Everytime I'm feeling abit down I watch Chelsea and their magical UCL run. The finals happened during my 17th birthday and it was on the midnight before my biggest exam of my high school life.
This match won us the triple one year later. The most heartbreaking game for every Bayern Munich supporter... this game shows that football can be very hard... but it's ironic that we won it at Wembley and Chelsea in Munich
I'm watching it all over again today, and that excitement and adrenaline all came back flushing through my being. It was a special night in Munich. I can't forget that feeling
For me, it's 1999 Manchester United against Bayern 2005 Liverpool against AC Milan 2008 Manchester United against Chelsea 2014 Real Madrid against Atletico
@@hamdi3008 The first half was really even, then in the second half I don't know what happened to Juventus, they just disapperead and Madrid completely smashed them
Fernando Torres in 2012 won the final against Toni Kroos after penalties (Chelsea-Bayern) but in 2016 Toni Kroos won the final against Fernando Torres after penalties (Real-Atletico). Also Dani Alves and Ronaldo (2009 Barcelona-United, 2017 Real-Juve) and Dani Alves and Morata (2015 Barcelona-Juve, 2017 Real-Juve).
I'm chelsea fans from Indonesia. That's incredible. I can't belive we won it. 2012 it's our year. Never forget it. Now we missed Drogba, No the other strikers in chelsea like him.
People say we didn't deserve to win but our win at home to Napoli that kick-started the ride and we surely deserved it beating Barca in the semis convincingly and top it off with drogba, Lampard. Cech, Terry etching their name in Chelsea history
You wish you beat Barcelona "convincingly" WTF???? Over the 2 legs Barca had like 70 shots to Chelsea's what? 10 max and at least 70% possession in both games to Chelsea's 30 or less home&away. The woodwork several times, offside flag, clearances off the line all played a big part. The away goal rule contributed greatly as well. No way Chelsea deserved a clean sheet from the first leg let alone a win, a draw would've been a steal they should've lost 0-4. Chelsea only got past Napoli because of a stupid needless penalty giveaway from Liverpool reject Dossena.
I’ve really started to notice these past years how bad owners are getting for football clubs but Abramovich is an amazing owner he comes to almost every game and he always supports the club. He’s the owner everyone would want at their club
Chelsea*s fans wait this title so loooong! So many pain after penalty in 2008, "f*cking disgrace" in 2009 ... and this is last chance to this legendary generation. Last chance to Drogba, Terry, Lampard, Cech and Cole. And so dramatic game and last legendary penalty!!! And Chelsea win! Supporters cry, players cryed. One of memorable moment in my life!!!!
You can't say that this winning was a luck. Chelsea came in the finale without the strongest line up while Bayern did. They lost their captain and best defender John Terry. Bayern scored at the time which made everyone think of the end. Bayern earned a penalty in extra-time. Mata missed his first penalty in the shootout... This was an incredible journey. They deserved the trophy.
Dude this win was extremely lucky. Bayern had so many chances and missed all of them. Chelsea was just cold in front of goal. Definitely there was luck but of course if u manage to win a game where u have been dominated over 120 min then u have done many things right
This night cemented Chelsea in my subconsciousness...also the first Chelsea match i would watch with family 💙..A night i will never forget... Cheers to the coming memorable nights like this🥂
Drogba was an incredible player. The amount of goals that he scored at finals is spectacular. He was never at a normal games but in the important nights he always appaered
