This video basically features the boss fight against the Cardinal Virtue of Temperantia from Chapter VII of Bayonetta (which, like many of the chapters featuring a boss, consists of some cutscenes, the boss fight peoper and pretty much nothing else). Note that this video was recorded on the PC version of the game (released on the 11th of April 2017) and while playing on Normal difficulty.
Much like the other fights involving a Cardinal Virtue/Audio, the battle with Temperantia is divided into different phases before you can hit the climax and defeat the boss.
In the first phase, you must stay on the various chunks of flying ground as you try to slowly damage off Temperantia's tentacles. In this phase, Temperantia can:
- Grab the platform you are on and start shooting in your direction. As long as you can dodge the bullets, you can damage the tentacles grabbing the platform
- Charge an electric punch to destroy the platform you are on. You are given time, once again, to damage the tentacles holding the platform: doing so will prevent the attack from landing and destroy the chunk of ground supporting you.
- Grab the platform you are on and reduce it to rubble by shooting at it. In this case, you'll be given a prompt to jump on a new one
- Simply punch you out on your current platform, which will force on you a prompt to a jumping sequence in panther form which will get you on a new one
- Produce golden small projectiles from his eyes towards you
Even if Temperantia will destroy a platform you are standing on or you'll simply fall off, you'll be able to get on a new one without reciving any damage.
When a set of tentacles will be damage enough (basically, the armor around them will be completely broken), Temperantia will try to dish out a quick electric punch: you'll be given a prompt to counter it, which will take you onto one of his arms. You can now reach the arm's "nucleus" (while doding wind serpents in the process) and smash it: the nucleus will defend itself by producing an electrical discharge or three homing blue arrows at you. Once the nucleus is destroyed, you'll be able to summon Hekatoncheir and rip the arm off.
Once both of Temperantia's arms are destroyed, you'll get into the second phase of the fight: here you must navigate the boss' main body and destroy the three nuclei holding it together.
Once even that business will be taken care of, you'll have to finally attack Temperantia's head directly, which spots different attacks:
- A salvo of orange homing arrows in your general direction
- A golden damaging beam he'll drag around himself
- More golden small projectiles
- He will erupt some tentacles out of his mouth and lash at you with them
Most of these attacks, if dodged, can trigger Witch Time.
After damaging Temperantia's head enough, you'll be prompted to hit the climax and solve the final QTE to defeat the boss
