It is always the beauty and elegance that brings a candidate to the top 15 and if good luck gets along, to the top 5. For Janina San Miguel, she could have fared well in the Miss World pageant had she not backed out. Her beauty and elegance is captivating.!
Yes in beauty pagaent in general physical beauty is the ticket to make it, but in the end if you don't know how to speak or shall we say if you're not intelligent enough then you will not win specially nowadays where beauty pagaents focuses more on the candidate's intelligence and causes. Judges were either on crack or bribed or perhaps a bunch of morons for overlooking her obvious flaw. I’m hindsight, this was the period when PH were mediocre at best internationally and statistically wouldn’t have been a front runner nor taken home the crown
Janina won the major awards such as best in swimsuit and gown, both has a big factor in the scoring.. q and. A has only a litttle percentage a major reason why she was able to capture the world crown.
But Janina also pissed off a lot of people due to unprofessionalism including her superiors and first runner-up Danielle Castano during training and had to resign due to personal reasons when her grandfather died.

Ron Moreno 2010 was the last year GMA hosted Bb. Pilipinas before the pageant reshuffle in 2011 saw ABS-CBN took over BPCI and saw GMA have Miss World Philippines. Both of them have a lot of success since.
not only venus raj. ruffa gutierrez, charlene gonzales also won BBP while it was on GMA. Both pageants were held in 1993 though. One in the earliest months which BBP '93, and in October, BBP '94.

Good for Janina. She did not melt down and stayed poised and confident- that was a big plus.. Her only mistake was talking in English- her handlers' mistake and the pageant's sponsor mistake. They should have known that some contestants did not speak much English. The judges correctly interpreted that this was a program format mistake. The question should had been asked in Tagalog if they did their homework about the abilities of each contestant.
Nakakamiss yung panahon na isang pageant lang yung panggagalingan ng lahat 😆 medyo napagtanto ko na alphabetical pala ang announcement ng mga nanalo para matanggal bias (at the same time ma-boost ang Miss World). Look at Miss Universe Thailand and Vietnam, mas maganda pa ang staging than the recent Miss Universe in Atlanta. Ganong production ang gusto kung makita na wala sa BPCI.
@@whaianne But you can't deny Binibining Pilipinas' title success under ABS-CBN as a regular host where they won four, two each in Universe and International, between 2011 and 2019. GMA has done a better job with the stand alone Miss World Philippines than with Binibining Pilipinas.

Siguro if Joined when she was in her early 20s and na train ang comm skills, she would do well sa intl pageants.. her comm skills is her weakness but at her age 17, she has the best stage presence, and most beautiful face and body in her batch..both bb international and bb universe that year we’re not even noticed sa mga pageants nila..

BPP is the most prestigious beauty pageant, that a sash presenter is not even sensitive enought to put on the sash properly 0:53... even if shes just a runner-up she still has to enjoy that awarding momment...Not only on this awarding momment, you can also see the same from the other years... common guys, i doubt if they have not been oriented on what they should do... Even the previous queens, can not even put on the crown proerly.....

Actually, the Philippines won two Big Four crowns in the 2000s decade: Precious Lara Quigaman helped the Pearl of the Orient break a 26-year drought with her Miss International 2005 crown and Karla Paula Henry helped the Philippines win their first ever Miss Earth title in 2008.

Three crowns are equal in prestige and announced in alphabetical order. Universe is highest except if underage she will be sent in miss world. These days different na criteria for universe and world so they have separate pageants
If Patricia Fernandez wasn't placed in MI 2008, Binibining Pilipinas would've had three straight years without any placings. 2006 and 2007, despite having Maggie Wilson, didn't have anybody placed.

i wonder why they announced miss world last..as if it is the most pretigious one... no wonder when GMA7 was the one airing the binibining pilipinas, our candidates are just a clapper at the back in the international pageants.. but when ABSCBN's turn to air the pageant all candidates they sent reached top 5.... i know its not the network's decision, but the network's popularity made it a hype to all filipinos around the globe so the judges and organizers couldnt help but take notice..
