Why did they have the Q&A in English anyway? Filipinos can express better in their own language. In international pageants, it's not uncommon for Latin contestants to speak with an interpreter.

what janina did wasn't embarrasing. It was hilarious. This is one of the funniest true to life moments. It really, really makes me laugh. And I am proud of Janina 'cos she still didn't get affected by her mistakes. She is truly a brave and confifent woman.

For all those asking why she won a crown despite of that gaff in answering: It's because she tops the 2 major criteria of the pageant (Long Gown and Swimsuit) that is a big percentage to winning one of the 3 crowns. And that the Question Portion is just a little percentage to the overall criteria. I believe she's not dumb. She just find it hard to answer in English. I applaud her for the effort.

Because pinoys are very keen when it comes to constructing the right grammar. And we were expected by the rest of the world that we are very fluent when it comes to speaking the english language. That's why it's really a big deal for them that someone from the Philippines doesn't know how to speak english very well. Most especially to those people who are representing our country.

That's true! If my memory serves me right, Hilary Clinton was very conscious with her grammar when she visited the Philippines than when she's in the US. When asked why, she said "because Filipinos are very keen with English grammar."

Do you even understand what the essence of this pageantry is? To showcase the beauty and brains of a Filipina. But you know what? it is because of close minded people like you who destroy the core of being brainy. Yung tipong di marunong mag ingles bobo agad? English is just a language it definitely does not describe how intelligently someone thinks. Wala pong language of the event. Mga hipokritong tao lang po na katulad mo ang nag iisip na pag nag ingles matalino agad. That's why I despise the pageant itself, Pilipino po tayo matuto po tayong mag mahal sa sarili nating wika. Sometimes if nervousness attacked, our confident lost a lot and our mind doesn't work at all. I'm sure she could explain that well if she just listen to what had Paolo told her that she could say it in Tagalog. She just continued talking in English and that was her big mistakes. For you Janine, I'm still proud of you coz you had reached that level in joining the binibining pilipinas that most of us couldn't do that. But next time, be careful.
