Not quite sure why people are comparing this interview to Andrew Tates. It’s like comparing Stoke to Barcelona. It’s two different interviewers with two different styles, interviewing two very different characters who are in two very different situations. I’d also add that Tate has was accused and subsequently charged by the police. So many amateur journalists, psychologists, body language & speech experts in this comments section.
He is a good actor. Pulling on the heartstrings of the public. He is even stuttering 🙄 People must go back and remember all the times he interviewed people who was in a similar situation and he didn’t give them much grace at all. That’s why I don’t feel sorry for him. There is more to this story than we know and it will all come out🤨

This just gives me goosebumps in the worst way possible. Always admired his talent as a presenter. I want to buy it, but I just can’t. There is something off about it all and I just can’t pinpoint it down.

i don't think he did anything illegal but i don't believe he is being fully honest. he followed the guy on twitter they had some innocent talk on twitter i'm buying that. it's when he comes to his work. it's either before he got him a job there or a little after he liked this guy in a romantic way.when he said it just happened in his dressing room is ridiculous. the reporter should of asked when did you start to develop feelings for him? when did you find out the boy was gay? there was a point he wanted to do sexually things to this kid so he kept him happy spent time with him and when he thought the time was right he made his move. nothing illegal but that is closer to the truth than what he is saying.

He did not groom that child since he was 10 he met the young boy at 10 there was no further contact from him giving a lecture at the boys school about careers in television. No more contact until this lad was then 15 all innocent the affair started when he was 20 it was an unwise but legal & consensual these two are still friends & in contact The young man now 27 does not want publicity & wants to know the best way forward to get on with his life.

I do not have a lot of sympathy for him. He minimises what he did. He lied to colleagues and his boss. And most importantly, he has not LOST EVERYTHING! 10 seconds later he is saying his family wouldn't leave him alone. He is rich. So exactly what has he lost other than a job? Guess what? That's life...and he is in a far more fortunate position than most who lose their jobs.

Does Schofield really think that he, in his late 40s and face of ITV’s flagship morning show, had no impact or influence at all on the other guy, barely out of his teens, who was a child when he met Schofield and got all his jobs through Schofield? I don't think taking some time to respond is a sign of lying. If he was answering everything in a snap without thinking then you'd say it was scripted and rehearsed and lacking emotion and therefore lying. Not weighing in with an opinion here but just watch out for your bias when you analyse the interview. You'll see through whatever lens you want to see it through.

This reminds me of another very famous interview where the interviewee had brilliantly crafted answers, even creative, but theory and practice just didn't match. It will be interesting to see the longer term, but I'm not optimistic.
So many celebs and those in the public eye have had affairs and they've not lost everything like Phil has. Which is why people are suspicious, because if it was just an affair that was legal then why has it ended his whole career and friendships?? But now hes played the mental health card nobody is allowed to talk about it now or theyll be accused of 'killing him' if he did anything crazy. Its just odd the whole thing. Imagine having to answer all these intrusive questions with millions watching rubbing their hands together in delectation of someones downfall and humiliation. He is fully aware of the consequences for his action and the effect it has had on all involved especially the young man and their families. To be truthful other than these people its no one elses business. Whats more dissapointing to me is that this story is getting perpetuated so that it is deemed higher up on the scale of news on the itv news at 1 than the tragedy of the teenagers who died in bournemouth.

Why are people so shocked at two men having a relationship when everyday we look at heterosexual relationships with huge age gaps? Yes he betrayed his wife, it sucks and its wrong. Having a relationship at work with a subordinate, ok we can argue it shouldn't happen. But people do fall in love, or want to be in a sexual relationship. Is there any evidence or accusation that he groomed anyone or exchanged inappropriate messages when his now ex-lover was still a minor? If not, they're just two adults in a consensual relationship. If it was a 20yo, having a relationship with Holly, people with just go "ok cool good for them, and turn it into a love story". Where is the same indignation when it comes to Andrew Tate actually admitting to dating a minor on tape? And actually grooming dozens of women into a porn business?
