The first part of this discussion is great, however, the last part seems to be missing a point.. He said, Husband and one wife is --- AMBIGUOUS. What is ambiguous in being a HUSBAND? CAN A WOMAN BECOME A HUSBAND? What the heck .. I thought he is an apt teacher, but then when I heard that it makes my heart ache . So sad ..
Jesus does mention in John, to Peter tend my sheep, feed my sheep. Pastors are elders. Are we not Jesus's sheep? As same as this, tend my sheep means be a shepherd as pastors. Also, it is so clear women are not to speak and be silent in those references and this speaker concludes with complete opposite meaning. All complementarian church do preach women to follow not having short hair, etc. Many women just do not follow them. It is so clear in those two verses that women are to remain quiet in the church yet the speaker somehow completely contradicts what is written. Thus, they pick and choose what they want to obey. I would suggest that the speaker has a bit more fear and trembling before contradicting the Word of God.
i have no words.. Biola is a notable uni and has this quality of teaching... I believe' Husband and Wife ' is not ambiguous...(prohibition of polygamy???... nothing to do with that)) the Bible is very clear.. I donot permit........a woman OR women....to speak/teach in the church.... what further comment.. command we need? its clear Wrong to say that Complementarians appoint female deacons...if thats true.. its no longer Complementarian anymore Phoebe: a servant of the church.. can means just a church janitor like me or personal attendant of the lead pastor...or just helping whatever Activity in the church wholeheartedly.. I don't think this teacher is teaching sound Theology...
