Deck screws are not always the best choice. They are somewhat brittle, and can break much easier than nails. Be careful about trusting screws in shear loading. You don't want Broken Deck Screws
I have had half of all the screws used to build a deck break over a winter. The deck partially collapsed because of separation. Nails only for me now if its structural. Good video.
