Beach House came into my life a few years ago. The first song I ever heard from them was actually Myth and it blew my mind! And soon after, I discovered Depression Cherry, and it literally saved my life, when I was going through a dark time mentally a few years ago. If you ever listen to that album, you’ll understand the power and magic it has, and I just thank you Beach House, for coming into my life at the right moment ❤️
One of the most magical moments of my life was sitting on a quiet beach, moments away from a storm, wind blowing, waves crashing, listening to On the Sea.
HOLD UP... your comment about Hurricane Irene made me realize that the silence between the main song and the hidden track was like the eye of the storm passing over, where everything was chaos, became still and silent, and then started up again once the eye had passed... idk if that's right, but in my mind it makes sense :)
I remember hearing this album for the first time back in 2012 and being blown away like you were in this video. Like, this kind of music exists???? wtf They're my absolute favorite band now. They are so consistently incredible
One of my favorite albums of all time, and your reactions were all on-point and such a joy to watch. This is an absolutely brutal breakup album, and so is their album just before this, Teen Dream. One you'll either want to steer totally clear of next time you experience a breakup, or one to sink into and just let those feelings subsume you.
you're seriously making the best album reaction content on this site right now. i'm not very great when it comes to attention spans but you're able to make any album interesting to me. i know this isn't a lot of people's favourite but by far my #1 beach house record is depression cherry. its stunningly beautiful and is one of the few albums that can take me to another world. i definitely do recommend it. great video as always!
nonagon infinity by king gizzard & the lizard wizard would be a great reaction, every song transitions perfectly into the next and the last track transitions perfectly into the first making it basically one amazing infinite song
Bloom is such a pretty record, loved seeing you react to the album ♥ Would definitely recommend candy claws for a similar dreamy atmosphere, Ceres and Calypso and Two Airships/ Exploder falls are some of my favorite records of all time.
Hey Smags, great reaction. You’ve already reacted to some of my fav albums of all time, so thanks for doing so! If you loved Bloom then you’ll love the rest of Beach House’s discography as well. They are one of the most consistent bands in their sound I’ve ever heard, and every album is quality. I suggest trying out “The Resistance” by Muse, I think out of all their albums this is the one most up your alley! (You’ll have fun with arpeggios 😂)
@@lordmaregaOh yeah definitely, I think The Resistance is a good starting point since it’s not too heavy, and then he can start getting into the REAL good stuff with oos and absolution :)
I’d definitely listen to Teen Dream, then Depression Cherry. Teen Dream was extremely influential in the music world and it’s kinda where Beach House “found” their sound. Kendrick samples a song from Teen Dream and Tame Impala was extremely inspired by this album (“Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” was written as a continuation of “Walk in the Park”!)
This album is truly an all-time great, and one of my favorites ever. If not my favorite album ever. Such beautifully performed songs that are just incredible to get lost in. Your videos are so excellent man, please keep doing them, you brightened my feed today.
lets fucking go! you're a real one for reacting to this! Bloom is my second favorite BH album and I love it so much, but my personal favorite BH album is their debut/self titled, the reason being is because of the nostalgia I get from it and theres this melancholic cozy warm aspect to it that just makes it my personal fav so i highly recommend to give it a listen if youd like. The album is also very underrated and many people dont really care for it but idk maybe youd like it. Keep at it your vids make my day man!
minecraft let’s play would actually go crazy. u gotta listen to jar of flies by alice in chains or in utero by nirvana they are THE fall albums and i think you’d really enjoy them.
Beach house is like listening to some nostalgic memories (but you’re listening to it for the first time ) I listened or knew about beach house like three years ago and since then whenever I listen to their albums it’s like I’m listening to the song for the first time again
I found you recently and I love your reactions and the choice of albums you react to. I feel like your music taste aligns with mine more than any other reactor out there. I tried this album about a year ago and loved it, but I haven't gone back since. I watched this and it made me go back lol it's amazing. I'll throw in some more albums to check out if you haven't yet: Origin of Symmetry - Muse Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - Arctic Monkeys Cat Heaven - Roy Blair The Forever Story - JID The New Abnormal - The Strokes Broken Machine - Nothing But Thieves
Nice never too late to check this album out. I first heard this about couple of years ago and probably is the best Beach House album. Wild is my favorite
Love Beach House. This is a great album. I'd recommend two of Cut Copy's albums. 'Bright Like Neon Love' and 'In Ghost Colours'. I'd also recommend a newer album by The Blaze called 'Jungle'. Also, I like the album backdrop!
This is my favorite album of all time. I believe they said this album was an exploration of abstract ideas and feelings they had while touring on their breakout album Teen Dream. My favorite track is for sure Other people, the way I interpret it is how beautiful connection and community is and that fact that we can just connect with other people is something we can take for granted very easily. If you liked this is definitely recommend listening to Teen Dream, Bloom definitely back pedals on the sound of that album but Teen Dream feels more lush while Bloom feels more electric
Haven’t listened to this album in a while…it was great for a time. It’d be super dope to see you jump into some mewithoutYou. They have multiple 10/10 records but Brother, Sister is a great place to start 🍻
Awesome to see you review this. Great album, but I'm always exhausted after I listen to it. I always preferred Teen Dream personally. If you like this kind of cinematic music, I think you'd love M83's Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Feels like yesterday I congratulated you on 5k and now you’re already close to 6? Nah you’re getting too good at this 🙌 Suggestion: The Money Store by Death Grips. Just kidding, not yet. Obviously Silent Alarm by Bloc Party
Figured I'd finally dump some suggestions: Tears for Fears - The Hurting (New-Wave Synthpop) PJ Harvey - Rid of Me (Rock) The Postal Service - Give Up (Indie Pop) The Antlers - Hospice (Indie Rock) The Decemberists - Picaresque (Indie/Folk Rock) My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade (Emo/Rock) Also just more Bowie and Sufjan Stevens whenever you can get to it.
another banger video but i am back once again to reccomend aia: alien observer by grouper......... her other album dragging a dead deer up a hill is much closer to the sound of this beach house record, but much more folky and ambient. i think you could really love her stuff, its very pretty.
I have recommendations that are perfect for this time of the year: The Wrens - The Meadowlands (indie rock) Bark Psychosis (any album - post-rock) Keep it up!
Love the videos! A few recommendations: Nurture - Porter Robinson (light summer electric with fun production) Koi No Yokan or White Pony - Deftones (very heavy, sexier and heavier radiohead imo) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop)
You should react to Four of Arrows by Great Grandpa. Really cool blend of rock and shoegaze with some country notes, cool songwriting about family and nature and has cool harmonies.
I really think you'd dig the ethereal/instrumental stuff in Judgement by Anathema. And the lyricism in Reconstruction Site by The Weakerthans Also how you feel about checking out some metal albums? There's some pretty atmospheric stuff there
Victoria's singing is definitely more raw on Teen Dream, the music is bold and poppy like Bloom, but not as smoothly produced and the songs seem more diverse. Bloom is where they started to become a little pigeonholed in their sound imo. This could be nostalgia talking, I remember seeing them tour right before Teen Dream came out and hearing Norway for the first time
Beach house end up changing your life in the way they sound, Bloom is a superb album, but not their best (in my opinion). Urgently check out Once Twice Melody, their latest album, it transports you into a void, a world only yours. I hope you will eventually react to as many of their albums as possible
Please I would love you to listen to Entertainment, Death by Spirit of the Beehive. its not really a classic but the sound of the album is so unique and I think you will enjoy it:)
idk if you have but if you haven’t, you should listen to Heaven or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins. One of Beach House’s influence is Cocteau Twins and you can hear it in songs like New Year imo.
Loving your channel and subscribed! Loving your reactions to albums. You give really great, honest, candid reactions. Would love to see your reactions to: "Dragonslayer" by Sunset Rubdown "Shut Up, I Am Dreaming" by Sunset Rubdown "Apologies to the Queen Mary" by Wolf Parade "Fevers and Mirrors" by Bright Eyes "Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground" by Bright Eyes
if you ever need a break from music that makes you want to cry Ceres and Calypso in the Deep Time by Candy Claws is a 10/10 that just turned 10 years old
yep :) My Recommendations for future reactions: 1. Beck - Midnight Vultures 2. Doves - The Last Broadcast 3. Fiona Apple - When the Pawn... 4. Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest 5. Autolux - Future Perfect Thanks for your consideration :)
