Dang, seeing Bear with that raccoon was painful! I wasn't surprised that Bella came up and got that critter off Bear when she saw he was in trouble. She's a good girl.
Aww I love that Bella pulled the raccoon off her brother! Way to save Bear Bella. You deserve a nice hunk of meat for your heroism 🙂 I'm sure you did but clean those bite wounds, put some colloidal silver or antibiotic ointment on them.
This grandma is well over 60 and I sure am glad to see you and the young man out doing a few of the same jobs we did at that age. A lot fewer kids today are finding out about what my generation learned from the WW2 generation.
We love watching y'all with our daughter. It's so important to teach our kids where their food really comes from and the work that goes into it. Hope Bear is ok!!
Bear don't play when it comes to protecting his family, he doesn't like trespassers 💖👍😀 Bear you are a YT Star don't mess up that pretty face.💖leave them raccoon alone.
Coon hunting used to be big in Ohio and I don't hear anybody talking about it anymore. I grew up around hunters all my life and would watch them go groundhog hunting also! Come to think of it, all I hear them talk about anymore is duck and deer hunting. My 2 sons have started dove hunting this year and that's different! I remember my Dad also hunting duck, geese, pheasant, squirrel, rabbit just to help put meat on the table for us kids. That was awhile ago, boy have things changed.
My cousin has a squirrel/coon dog. We love it. His dog is getting old though. I'm a big duck hunter, but I enjoy hunting all kinds of game. You're exactly right though, not many squirrel and coon hunters anymore. Watching a dog work is the best part of hunting to me.
Use a chunk of hotdog and poke the trigger bar through it. Makes it dang near impossible for them to get away with your bait. Other option: try stuffing a full-size marshmallow under the trigger bar before filling with corn/dog food
I don't know...Bear went in for seconds...ha. Stout of heart. When he gets a little more experience...watch out. You have a very helpful camera man. Good morning, Houston. 😉
@Abbie Plasters a working dog like Bear was doing his job......he was protecting his land and all his pack.......he was just a wee bit confused on the process..........it's all good though Bella the female was there to set him straight and lend a paw to help lol
@Abbie Plasters I know this is 4 months later but...that all happened in a split second. What was Daniel supposed to do?? Stick his hand in there? Shoot the raccoon while it was wrapped around Bear's head? You do realized that shooting it would have killed Bear too? I'd like to see you do better. Bella took care of it and that's what counts.
@Luke yeet You got rabies from a stray dog that's why you're so toxic towards them. Next time don't put peanut butter on your pecker, doubt you learned your lesson, the dog was the victim not you, your narcissistic comments prove you have a deep dark secret your hiding about what you do with dogs. You probably beat dogs too. Coward. Wishing a dog gets rabies also proves you're an animal abuser.
Made me miss my baby raccoon. I gave it to wildlife prairie when it got older. I loved it but it loved only me and food lol. It was still very wild so I taught it to catch fish in the bathtub and to eat berries from the bushes and to avoid people and predators and let it go at wildlife prairie. I miss my Bandit raccoon.
I've recently found your channel. I've been watching a lot of your videos, catching up in guess you can say and I'm very impressed. I'm usually not much on commenting but feel you deserve my response, awesome family . The way you do things, running the farm, how you involve the kids with the outdoor life, hunting, fishing, craw dad's. I'm amazed at how they are willing to eat so many different things and a couple videos when your daughter shot her deer,wow..doesn't get any better and I will stay tuned. Thank you for what you do and for this channel
Good job trapping Daniel, as you know, that's how I made my living before retiring, good to see Houston taking interest, it's something every landowner needs to know
Bear was about to kill it just doing his job Mr arms YEET that was great I I never laughed so hard in life another great video Mr arms much love from Atlanta Georgia
Being new to the RU-vid world, I’ve been hesitant about sharing trapping videos. After seeing all the support and positive comments here, I think we will continue doing them! WE LOVE ARMS FAMILY HOMESTEAD!
People ae the ones who are vicious! Horrible thing to do, using that traps! horrible disgusting. Hurting animals and hunting is disgusting. DISGUSTING!
OH Yikes Bear 😲 Great Job protecting your humans, but OUCH! Hopefully he learned not to run up on a racoon, but he's a protector so he'll probably try it again if given the chance 😞😰
Preach it brotha ... I have said for years the ground predators are out of control... Turkeys are down ... keep up the good work and I'm sure we would love to see or hear some gobbling in the spring
Dang Bear, better thank Bella for backing you up on that one. That little guy wasn't wanting to let go till she put the clamp on his back. Way to go Bella! Nice job with the camera Houston! Happy New Years guys/gals!
Is Bear gonna be ok? I sure hope so, he's a awesome dog, Bella is Bear's hero today!! She is a beautiful dog, great video today, Daniel and Houston, Happy New year to the Arms Family Homestead!! :)
Racoons can be viscious. I was bit by a supposedly "pet" one. They are a wild animal and can be very destructive. I applaud you for watching out for eco-system on your farm. Great job with camera Houston! Keeping all of you in my prayers 💕
I feed about 20-30 & have never had one turn on me, my dogs, horses or cats. My cats actually eat from the same bowl as most of them. The ONLY reason that coon attacked Bear was b/c it was trapped & in pain. A raccoon would rather run than fight any day.
I love trapping and hunting videos. Two things I have always wanted to do, but never got too. I had a spine/spinal cord injury about 10 years ago, so my hunting/trapping days are over before they even began, but I do love to see it done, so I am looking forward to your upcoming videos! Poor Bear probably thought he was protecting you and Houston from that angry raccoon. I'm so glad he is ok, the sweetheart that he is. It was good to see Bella step in for a second to try to help her big brother. She just realized quickly enough that it wasn't gonna feel good to wrestle with the raccoon. I know you and Houston watch (and know) Andrew Flair. He's had his fair share of coon issues in the last year with several of his small animals (ducks chickens quail) being lost to those pesky little creatures. There's nothing cute about them. All the best to you and your family, Daniel and DeeJay. God bless you and yours. xox Heather🇨🇦
Happy New Years Arms Family! Geeeze Bear, dang a hard lesson, Bella was gr8t to help him. Thank god Gemma was not there. Hopefully Bear won't do that again. Take care of you all. Safe travels. Enjoy your night. Thanks for sharing eh :))
*From observing Bear he most likely WOULD go after a raccoon again... He’s got a strong protective instincts and prey drive. These types of dog’s can learn a hard lesson and two seconds later jump back into the battle! Gotta love a good dog with plenty of heart.* 😉
I was thinking when I saw the leg hold trap was to leave the dogs at home. He was protecting his family! Hopefully he does not get rabies. I DO NOT want to see a rerun of O Yeller!
He should probably get a booster, but in the circumstances the raccoons is probably not rabid. I'm a bit concerned because raccoons are normally diurnal. The two main exceptions are rabies and nursing mamas.
I hope you rewarded Bear - when that raccoon snapped at Houston, he put himself between the raccoon and Houston, even after he had discovered raccoons were seriously mean. No account critter was going to hurt his people. Wonderful Bear, you are a hero.
Last night just before dark I walked out in my sunroom to let my dog out, and that is where I feed birds in winter . As I walked out there was a red tailed hawk eating and shredding a dove. I know it is nature but wow it cought me off guard. Even though I know all the birds are hungry. Any way just wanted to share. I am so glad Bear is ok. I remember the book Where the Red Fern Grows and I really was worried. May God continue to bless Arms Family Homestead.
Great video! When we used to coon hunt our dogs would sometimes get a little to close for comfort. Like you said they learned a lesson the hard way. Keep up the good work!
I found your channel thanks to Jimmy Houston you guys need to help him get his numbers up a bit. I went to a former LEO to a truck driver now disabled. All your stuff is good as I'm still recovering. Keep safe brother. God Bless.
Awe, poor Bear!!, My inards are all stretched and convulsing in empathy for the poor guy!! He was just doing his job and gonna get rid of a perceived threat, and Bella his pardner in protecting the farm handled the other end of that threat!!! Yea teamwork!!!
Hey Daniel, I love your channel and Houston is one awesome little dude. You are raising him the way I would have had I had boys of my own. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from NE Oklahoma
There's a racoon that keeps coming to my screen door when I'm looking out in the early morning. He stands up and charters an answer to everything I say to him. 😄
Horror Fan raccoons are really intelligent and my sister in law had an orphaned one as a pet until it grew enough to let it go. As it got older it became less friendly and more aggressive. Definitely a wild animal.
For non hunters and anyone else that loves animals and would never dream of hurting them We don't understand why you would kill an wild animals it is a very important educational IMO on the reason you and other people do it. Thank you for always taking your time and explaining the why you do things. PS Hi Huston Happy New Year
Houston you love to be with your dad if it's raining or not. You is not going let him out of your eye sight. That is great Houston and Daniel I enjoyed your video all year round. You all is great farmers working together with those lovely animals. Happy Holidays
@@Gabe-ue1fj according to this website ( ipm.ucanr.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES/pn74123.html ) Opossums carry diseases such as leptospirosis, tuberculosis, relapsing fever, tularemia, spotted fever, toxoplasmosis, coccidiosis, trichomoniasis, and Chagas disease. They may also be infested with fleas, ticks, mites, and lice. Rabies may be rare, but opossums are not clean animals.
I hope that Bear is okay and that's why you need two dogs Bella was trying to help Bear out. Just make sure that the dogs are up-to-date on their rabies shots because, raccoons possums and animals like that carry rabies and other viruses and you don't want your dogs to get sick. Maybe you can put a thick leather collar around their neck to help protect them in case they get into another fight with an animal because some wild animals go for the throat. Bear was just doing his job protecting his humans from a threat and Bella was helping him. Two paws up for Bella and Bear. 😊😉🐕🐕🐾🐾
Actually possums almost never carry rabies. They may actually be completely immune but I don't know for sure. But Raccoons and skunks sure can carry it.
I think Bear learned a valuable lesson, even if it was a bit painful. So glad he wasn't severely hurt. Way to go Bella! There will be some people who will criticize you for letting the dogs run with you, but don't sweat it. You actually did him a favor because if he ever encounters raccoons while he's out alone somewhere, he'll know to steer well clear of them. Or, as Joseph Carter Mink Man's dog Boss does, he'll learn how to efficiently kill one. By trapping the raccoons, you're providing a valuable pest control service. Keeping the population down somewhat will allow an ecological balance to be preserved. Well done!
