Beast Sticks With Cable Aiders - with height test
In this video I wanted to showcase the cable aider by eastern woods outdoors. Link Below.
doublesteps.co...
Ive tried several aiders in the past and the cable aider or wire rope aider is IMO the best aider you can use. I also believe they are safer than many other aiders on the market.

@MichiganGreatOutdoors 2nd this comment. I'm pretty athletic but I've avoided using aiders on anything other then my bottom stick. Mainly because I didn't trust the material. With all due respect, it's good to see a larger guy use these cable aiders without any issues. Makes me feel more comfortable with using 2 aiders and 3 sticks this year. Being 5'10 I'm gonna run 3 beast sticks, 22 inch aider on the bottom, 18 inch on the second stick and some good spacing I hope to get around 18ft-20ft.

Well, been a month since I swapped out the Beast hardware to shorter tubes, being working on my leg strength/flexibility , have lost some more weight, anyway, ordered another 18" cable aider, and have put all the hardware back on the 24" sticks, went on my 3rd saddle hunt for pigs last Saturday, was able to get to 20' on the tree, had to "mod" the cables a little. I found that the cables didn't stay open like they did when new. My weight I quess, anyway, bought some nylon braided hose/tubing with a 1/2" inner diameter, cut it into 6" lengths, threaded them onto the cables. Now, I can fully step into the cables even with my big mud boots. spent 5 hours in the tree, saw a coyote that was all. getting more comfortable/confident with each sit. thanks for your videos. keep it up

@@MichiganGreatOutdoors yeah, the new sticks are more economical, kinda like the holes, both would work great
@MichiganGreatOutdoors
@MichiganGreatOutdoors 3 года назад
Yeah kinda, When I bought my original beast sticks they were $80 per stick. Now there $95. Plus the ones with holes in them all bent on me. So I had to get a replacement set and sell them. I guess 260lbs is too much for them.....
@arthurcarstens
@arthurcarstens 3 года назад
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors I bet the ones that bent were the ones that didn't have the corner of the tree bracket rounded off, those seem to "slide into" the bark, not "hang up"/ stuck in the bark, the weight was not that much of a factor
@MichiganGreatOutdoors
@MichiganGreatOutdoors 3 года назад
No, I bent 2 sets. They had the rounded off brackets. The problem is the tubes. Too many holes. For guys that weigh under 250lbs it doesn't seem to be an issue. The holes really reduce strength of the tube. Plus both sets I had were made in China too so maybe that had something to do with the bending. Either way I was never able to get a real answer out of the hunting beast as tk why they are bending. They just replaced them bo questions asked. My theory is that they came out with the new tube design to combat this problem with heavier guys. Ive talked to at least 4 other heavier beast stick owners who all bent thier sticks. All 4 never got an answer as to why they bent either.

Got my 3 aiders from EWO, they are great, stay open for a secure climb up and down, swapped out my sticks for something 19", have 4 sticks, use the hardware from the Beast Sticks, they are great, the whole package got me to 16 feet today, my personal highest, am very height scared, they are great. Made the mistake of getting the longer Beast Sticks, physically couldn't get the height step to step on the longer stick, simply swapped out to a shorter tube, Get 4 1/2 feet per stick , getting more practice, for a newbie to saddle hunting this coming year. appreciate your videos

The cable aiders are a complete game changer. The only other kind of aider I’d ever consider now is a moveable one that is cinched around the foot, but it’s got to be slower and not quite as safe in my mind. Anyhow, with light, early season hunting clothes on and a lot of stretching, the cable aiders let me get just as high with my cut down Helium’s as I can my full length Helium’s because I can’t hang a stick any higher than I can reach, no matter the stick length. Yeah, I just figured that out this morning in the yard lol. Hopefully they hold up well for us. Think I’ll wrap a bit of reflective tape around the center of them for climbing in the dark unless you know of a better idea. Come to think about it, the only reflective tape I have is thin pin stripe tape. Something wider would probably stay on better. Any suggestions?
@MichiganGreatOutdoors
@MichiganGreatOutdoors 4 года назад
Honestly I think the cable aider is the best for the simple reason is that its always gonna be in the same spot, it holds it shape nicely and u can feel it with your foot on the way down. Something reflective might be a good idea in the dark as long as its not glowing in the sun during the day.

Look into Titan Straps for securing the sticks. They are basically like long silicone straps that use a watchband style securing. They work better than the Nite Ize because you can really crank them tight. Keeps the sticks more secure. I used the same nite ize gear tie last yr and it was OK but it already wore through the rubber coating and exposed the wire. I think the titan strap will work better for me this year. They are more expensive tho

Well, have a question, my cable aiders don't stick out from the stick/tree anymore. Probably my weight I quess, anyway I solved the problem of the cables being open enough to put your boot. The problem I have is the cable hang directly down from the stick. Trying to place enough of my boot into the aider, can't seem to get the aider to position in the middle of my boot, ends up on the ball of my foot. Need more "purchase" of the aider to confidently place weight on it to step up to the next step. Am toying around with the idea of slightly "bending" the ends of the cables, therefore forcing the cable to stick further out from the tree. What do you think? Do you think it would "weaken" the metal, reducing the strength of the cable end? Give your thoughts
@MichiganGreatOutdoors
@MichiganGreatOutdoors 3 года назад
I dont think id bend the actual cable. Might kink and create a weak point. I know the LWCG aiders Andrae says to bend the tabs out to get the aider to stick out some. I think bending the tabs would be the safer bet.
@arthurcarstens
@arthurcarstens 3 года назад
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Man what a response time, you the Man!!! Where did you get the info about bending the tabs? That is what I meant. I also, made a webbing aider like the one on Bowhunter.Tv video. It allows me to swing out the bottom of the aider to catch it with the middle of my boot. The only draw back is that you can drop it. I dropped it this afternoon, had to climb back down to get it. BTW, saw a sow with some piglets but too much brush for a shot. Appreciate the help
