One thing I like about the song is that the structure of the song changes for each of the verses. Andre's verse has just the sample, Pimp C has the sample with the drums, Bun B has the drum pattern with the claps, and Big Boi's verse has no sample
I read an article once i forgot who was talking I believe DJ Paul but he said when he showed the song to everyone they all independently said they only wanted certain elements for their verses. It's crazy how when every different rapper heard it they all wanted certain elements missing.
This song has been a favorite of mine for a while, with UGK and Outkast being on the same song, but the fact that it was produced by Three Six makes this one of the best southern tracks of all time.
It was originally supposed to be UGK and Three 6 Mafia. Something happened with Three 6 Mafias management not clearing it so they put OutKast on it instead but left the beat.
+Percy Enrique Guevara You don't have to chop samples if you don't want to. Chopping is generally done to repurpose the sample in a new context or make the sample fit in the framework that your drums have provided. In fact chopping is an extra step that a lot of producers take to avoid copying their sample source. If you want to loop your sample, just set it to loop after your desired start/end points are set or keep triggering the sample as needed. :)
I'm actually not 100% sure as I don't own a Maschine but you could try it out; I'm just speaking from general beat making experience (Roland SPs and Ableton). Usually one shots are meant to only play once so in that case you may have to keep triggering it? Again I'm not sure but hopefully I helped a little.
I suggest chopping most of the time, but you can still loop tho, chopping and flipping is what was expected of u when u used a sample but loopin isnt bad its as creative as chopping just a bit less
Yeah it's a lil different I thought "hey these will be easy" and then every analog snare I had was just the furthest thing from the track lol. That one was the closest I could find in a timely manner.
