But sometimes I was missing some depth to your content- so hearing you talk seriously for over 40 min (well almost) is really appreciated by me. Hi, I don't really comment but love watching your videos and really enjoyed the free podcast episode! As someone going through anorexia recovery I've been watching lots of recovery coaches on youtube, and many say that it's restriction (or even a restrictive mindset) that promotes addiction and binging. If we allow all foods in moderation cravings are satisfied. I don't know whether I fully believe this or not, but it makes sense considering the fact that those in poverty (restricted due to income) are more likely to be overweight/obese. Some people are obviously naturally larger than others but I feel the main health issues start when people start to feel guilty around foods. Labelling certain body types may have led to more dieting, unhealthy relationships with food and weight issues. I do feel that some heavily processed ingredients could have a role to play though. Sorry for the essay!
The normals are an inspiration to us all. Given many years, we, too, can cook at the confused panicked level of Mike, Jamie, and Barry during a challenge
I made my own puff pastry the other day. If I can do it, you can. If you are smarter than me (I'd say I'm average), you will probably find it pretty easy. I found it pretty tricky.
It’s inspiring seeing how much progression and improvement all the normals have made over the course of the Sorted channel! At day 1, they were completely incompetent, over a decade later and they’re all moderately skilled and knowledgeable and should be a suitable example of what’s possible for anyone to achieve!
I thought it was "Mike, you've done really well whatever you made... James, you're having an off day." Edit: of course the first time I watched I didn't actually watch and just listened.
James: "I'm pretty chilled, what else can I add to this?" Jamie: "I mean...you are only making a sandwich." James: "...gonna be a pretty good sandwich." Meanwhile, Mike busy doing 4 things at once: "I dont think I'm doing enough here"
Mike: "What do you make? A sandwich...i'm not gonna win with a sandwich." That ladies and gentlemen, it is the mentality of a man who knows what he is facing, and also knows, that if he does not apply his knowledge and abilities beyond what he could imagine he would not be able to win, and that is how he achieved it.
I knew Mike was gonna win with that combo. I like it when normals beat chefs.. :'D Great job, Mike! And as Barry said, "James, you're having an off day." haha
I like that Barry switched at the last minute from trying to figure out which one was James's and just voted for the one he liked best. Mike deserved the win.
To be fair, Mike seems to have chef-level skills in the kitchen despite not having formal training from a culinary school. Like even in those Pass it On Challenges, James and Ben don't really have concerns if they know Mike is next in line because they trust that he'll do a good job. Most times he does unless he decides to 'make things more interesting' 😂
Definitely!! I've got a basil and a thyme that managed to survive more than a year, but I'm having issues getting anything else to survive in the house. The outdoor garden does quite well in the summer (looks outside at snow)... Please help!
Oh my gosh this would be amazing! If they used some really weird stuff I think Josh could definitely win, his food fears show has definitely proven he can kill it with weird stuff
I don't know if it's just because of the editing, but I love how humble Mike seemed with winning! He looked surprised and unsure the whole time Barry was eating and revealing the winner. It was v. sweet.
I'm disappointed in James, he phones it in because he thought Mike wouldn't do anything. I'm really impressed with Mike's dish actually it sounds awesome.
James’ sandwich was peak drunk food. Like, you make it at 2AM because everything in your fridge seems like a good idea, then you eat half but don’t remember it until you find the rest next to the bathroom sink in the morning.
Put Barry in the hot seat more. Give my man some power! even if he needs subtitles lol Also, well done Mike, those nugs with the honey sauce looked really nice.
As a 26 year old man who has only ever cooked frozen food or eaten out, you guys have played a huge part in the last month or so in getting me to start making my own food. And I have to say, home cooked food is sooo much better! Thanks guys

@@sjagoeffy No clue if it is because you are from the Netherlands aswell, but the Netherlands has quite a histrory with Indonesia so that's where it comes from. I love homemade Indonesian food from my mom! I normally make my "saté saus" with peanutbutter, sambal, sereh (ground lemongrass?) and Laos. Just love the kitchen a lot.
Nut brittle is to James as a sprig of mint is to Ben. Every time James is on screen, "I'm just gonna start by making a quick caramel...." Just one of the reasons we love you, James!😍
This is def one of my favorite Sorted videos. It's up there with CloudEgg level joy. Mike and James both collectively panicking is the type of content I like to see. HuttleStorm was very clever, Ben. Even though it's summer in Australia at Christmas my family tradition is a full roast. Roast lamb, roast pork, roast beef, roast chicken with roasted root veggies, peas, carrots, Cauliflowers bake and gravey. Dessert used to be plum pudding with Custard, but now pavlova with cream and muxrd berry salad. Every year we make a feast that will last days.
you know what could be fun? the ultimate mystey box challenge. the three norms are all given the same mystery box and are tested for their creativity and spontaneity.
Mike combining peanut butter with sambal is kinda the same as our malaysian kuah kacang(spicy peanut sauce)which is usually eaten with satay.good job mike👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I never thought I would watch an episode with James and ask what he was doing with some of those choices. But it's good to see that even chefs have off days, too. They were normals once!
I actually know a varation on that peanut butter and sambal sauce. It's a family favourite and a quick and easy sauce. We make it as a side sauce when we bbq and with nasi. We fry off a diced onion in a pan, then add ground coriander (ketoembar) and galangal powder (laos). Let that fry off for a minute, then add peanut butter and water and stir until smooth. Lastly add sambal to taste.
