Mowing ditch banks and a barn lot is made easy with the 10' batwing mower from Rhino Ag. Tim uses the mower along a road and in front of Randall's house then they mow the barn lot.
Thanks to RhinoAg for sponsoring the 10' Batwing Mower!

I’m from out west and went back to MidWest at the beginning of this summer, I was impressed to see that most people were really good at keeping everything mowed. I was also floored by the amount of lawn and garden tractors were over there. They are kinda few and far between out here but everyone has one back there. It was really interesting to me.

Helping your close family is great. The ground looks better than most farms I've been on. I don't know how many times I've been driving through country areas and saw implements, tractors and such sitting with weeds and grass grown up around them. Maybe they had been sitting there for years to rust away. It still makes me want to cry, or shake my head in wonder.

We dull bush hog blades pretty badly, because of all the trail bush hogging and water bars and uneven ground and stuff. I just block it up and get under there with an angle grinder to put a new edge on the blades.

Well, that mower is awesome! Now if you could re-mow the flat areas with a finish mower then the land would look WOW!!! The mower is just a beautiful piece of equipment. With our former home we had 168' of ditch across the front which was mowable with a 62" commercial mower but the 250' of side ditch was not mowable since there was water flowing all the time. I had to have it weed-wacked due to my back. In 2003 my side ditch went from about 18" at water level and 6" deep to 80' wide and 10' deep! God was merciful: my mother in law was living with us but slept with a respirator and we did not lose power so I stayed up all night and the sump pump and a trash pump emptied the basement in 10 hours.

Your cardiologist will be pleased that you are exercising more. Next you will be doing bicycles rides. The mower did a great job. Thanks for sharing that with us. Maybe you could do a segment on removing and replacing the mower blades. You could touch up the edges and put anti-seize compound on bolts that normally seize after a summer or two. I had to remove one of the blades on my MMM to remove some twine wrapped around the blade. When I went to put it back together I decided to remove the bolts on the other two blades and put anti-seize compound on the bolts. I found that one was already seized up. I got it off, but felt lucky that discovered it before it had to be cut off.

I note that the blades on that are *not* standard bush hog blades, those have a distinct upward sweep on the back, much more like you'd see on a riding mower or push mower than the usual totally-flat, double-sided design you see on most bush hogs. Less robust, but will definitely help pick up the material from the ground to cut!
