@@GoblinHours-im2ue Would it be Jester's story, or his own? Right now he's "dancing" (finding some happiness and connection) with the rest of the party, after having thought he could never be truly happy again (weak and sickly), but if he really plans to pursue time-travel and eventually change time, who knows what that would mean about his relationships with his friends. Maybe by remembering his mother and having to leave, it was hinting at the possibility of having to one day leave the party in order to try and change what he did in the past. A sense of his time with the M9 being a fleeting, happy dream, but even if he leaves, he'd be forever changed by his time with them.

and also, FRUMPKIN! ofcourse Caleb who was read that story has a companion CAT. and that both the boy and Caleb love books. ngl I cried

@@someoneofnoimportance2856 I'm not sure I'd put it down as stuck in the past so much as he wanted to recreate a very comfortable memory of his. Looking at the decor, much like reading the book from this episode, brings him back to a far simpler time.

I think Laura noticed the parallels to Jester's backstory right away and that's why she compared the cat prince to the traveler. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Liam actually did specifically tailored the story to appeal to Jester. Even if it was just subconscious, it was a great RP moment.

YES but also, a book that Caleb loved as a boy? with a "protagonist" that as a child also love books? meeting a fairytale cat ... read by THE WIZARD WITH A MAGICAL COMPANION CAT. Liam literally was like - let's set up some RP where these characters share in a childrens tale that involves elements of both of them - was it a coincidence that Liam basically asked to read it to Jester? i think not!

Regardless of what way she decided to decorate his room, I think Jester totally has the power to get him to memorize it and recreate it every time he makes the tower. That nice bit of reciprocating his effort to make them happy would be sweet.

@@WiseSageBum He's also insightful enough to recognize her infatuation with Fjord and he doesn't want to cause problems by complicating the matter for her. It's a little saddening because in another timeline, maybe they would be together. But it's also a little heartwarming because sometimes the best thing you can do for someone you love is to let them be happy with someone else, and to be happy for them. Plus, I mean... come on. Shadowgast/Widowhand could very easily happen. And that ship has a different flavor of adorable all its own.

It's a very tender moment of affection between friends, both in game and at the table

I've only seen bits and pieces of this series but that scene had me full on runny-nose crying. It is so sweet.

We all want to go to the place where our gardians took us to make us feel safe and loved and use it to make our loved ones feel safe. And I think Caleb went there and took Jester with him and for a moment he was his younger self and his best self and emulating someone he loved so much and remembering her love and sharing it and by sharing it growing it with someone he loves now. In that moment he loved himself. Im watching this as a spoiler for my journey enjoying the story of the mighty nein but I hope he sees his love from his mother and his father coming out in him remembering the things they shared and realizes that they would want him to love himself. I hope he finds the parts of them and his friends within himself that are inseparable from himself and see that those parts are meant to be loved and meant to love him back.
