Laura is a force of nature. Even the tallest mountains will eventually be brought low by the wind and rain. And really, was there ever any real doubt that he could stop his own wife from getting what she wanted? Let's be real.

That “I wanted to do that for a while, but I’m a big coward” and “No, you’re very brave” feels like it’s coming from Travis and Laura regarding Travis pulling the trigger on doing a romance rather than the in-game relationship.
And that theory is hardly far fetched, especially when Matt says "This is character growth. Like I am not talking about Fjord, I am talking about Travis!" afterwards.
Well thats because it's true. At the break, you can see that the big man was so anxious about it that it almost killed him. And Laura knows this, so when he said that, she broke character a bit and called him brave for facing his feelings.... like Fjord did.
Theres something insanely wholesome and precious about the pure excitement Laura has as her fake romance with her husbands fake character finally reaches fruition. Its like watching people fall in love all over again. DnD is weird and holds too much power
I genuinely don't really like romance. I don't read romance novels or watch romance movies or shows or anything like that. Just not my thing. But this video has such an insane hold on me that whenever it pops up I physically cannot function until I've watched it like 4+ times. DnD holds WAY too much power. And so do the Critical Role cast members.

No, even if Travis had forgotten Port Demali's name, Fjord wouldn't consider it home. What's there for him? A shitty orphanage? The empty (or worse, filled) berth where Vandran's ship used to dock? Fucking Trostenwald is more home to Fjord than Port Demali is, because that's where he met the Nein.
Well he mentioned Marion right after so i think he was saying that nicodranus is his home, because it's jesters home. I want to think that was the intent because that means that jesters reading was spot on, that there is a home waiting for him. And that home is wherever Jester is.
I think Marisha figured out what was going to happen before everyone else. When Fjord said to Jester "I care very much for you." Marisha gets this grin on her face and starts looking around at everyone like "Anybody else picking up on this? I think it's going to happen."
One of my favorite parts is that Jester was so sad and heartbroken when she said she was going to her room to sleep, but after the kiss she was so happy and flustered that she easily fell asleep holding her unicorn
Watch this, I was so lost in the moment I forgot that Laura and Travis were married. I felt like I was watching like a real romantic interaction between two timid but caring individuals
I'd easily believe that this has been good for their marriage too, though. I mean, I would imagine that getting the opportunity to sort of fall in love with each other a second time would be healthy for a relationship.
@@antonionunez3759 I feel like it's more being in the head space of a character and understanding what that character would do and behave in a certain situation than just strait acting.
Its always Sam and Tal doing smth on the side Ash being absolutely emotionally involved Liam reacting internally in character and marisha basically being us showing every though like an open book
I love how at the exact moment that travis says "I pull her close", just from facial expressions you can translate everyone's thoughts: Travis: "I can't believe I'm doing this of fuck oh fuck oh fuck o-" Sam: "Hey now! Things are getting spicy here!" Liam: "Didnt expect him to do that, that's safe to say" Talisen: "Mah boi's going for it! Come on, Travis make us proud!" Matt: "Wow. Holy shit. He's initiated, I'm proud of him" Ashley: "ooooooooooooooooooooooo-" Marisha: "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-" Laura: *"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH"*

I always think of there being countless “off-screen” moments where Cad was looked upon by Fjord and Beau for counsel on how to progress their relationships with Jester and Yasha. So when Tal nodded, it was like Cad was listening in and nodding his approval.
The look on Matt's face while they're roleplaying this scene. I've seen the same look on my DM's face while I or other players are rp'ing a really good, emotional scene. It's such a good feeling seeing how proud and invested your DM is in whatever it is you're doing.
I had to watch this 4-5 times just to stop watching them and see everyone else's reactions. You can SEE Travis falling in love with his wife all over again and it's so, so pure.
I love this, for so so many reasons, but also because it's so fitting for Jester? Like I think a big part of her character development was her realizing that the outside world isn't like how it is in all of the fairytales she loved to read as a little girl. More than the last campaign, this one has been messy and complicated and full of grey areas. But here- Jester gets a bit of that fairytale. That "Can I kiss you?" & "I promised your mother I'd look after you." & "I care very much for you." -- they're so soft and romantic. Yeah, the world isn't as simple as it is in stories, but that doesn't mean that those magical, happy endings don't exist.
The look on Matt's face of pure PRIDE, I think is how many of us feel! He did something new as a character AND player and we should all be proud of that D&D magic! 😁🤩

Yeah! They aren’t my main ship, buuut I still ship them- and I totally get what you mean!! Like me and my girlfriend have been dating for a couple months now, but we’ve never actually met each other in real life because of Corona, so we roleplay! Nothing explicit- but just kissing and cuddleing and it’s adorable- but some of my friends thought it was really weird. Idk, I find it normal- maybe? I like it

@@battlelindsay1795 Well, I think another big piece that needs to be resolved first is whatever is happening on the top room on Caleb's mansion. It could bring on a different character dynamic to Caleb. All this time, I believed he was making peace with something from his past to gather then courage to be happy. Now he will get his heart broken and will then probably regress in his carácter development a little.
@@jorgef005 well depending how fast they want to make it public I wouldn't be surprised if one night in the mansion caleb went to jester and told her and than jester who has never had anyone fancy her like fjord and caleb both do.
I don't know. I think he's got Jester, Astrid, and Essik. Jester not being an option anymore might actually make things easier for him. I could easily see his feelings for Jester turning from romantic to older brotherly. Though that might just be Liam's brotherly feelings for Laura bleeding through
@@seansilence2697 I wouldnt be saying jester can't be got. Its not like when fjord left thst night they made it official that they were going to date. I think its much more likely you see conflicting romance in this campaign than campaign 1. Especially with how Laura has been very open about how jester is very unaware of how real relationships work. All she ever has known about relationships are fairy tales or what her mom does for work. So if caleb let's say came to her room one night and confessed his love, unless Laura has been playing jester poorly. Jester clearly has feelings for both and if she had both the guys she liked confess to her itd probably not be as simple as well I already kissed fjord first so im with him. Its not just going to be who go there first.

I give Travis MAJOR props for being willing to step out of his comfort zone to do this (Also, I love Sam squeezing in the joke in the beginning but then letting the scene play out)
I am one to admit that I ship Fjord & Jester more than I do Jester and Caleb, but I won't lie that my heart aches for Caleb now. My eyes went straight to Liam during this to see a glimpse of what may/may not be a Caleb reaction to it. Just a small inkling that Caleb may have a seeing crystal in his secret room so he could look into each of his friends and he watched this go down. Liam, however, went into his "Vax projective of Vex" look he would wear in Campaign 1 though. Now to comment on Travis now rp-ing a romance. I find it really sweet that his first time doing this is with Laura (his wife). I always thought he wouldn't do it because he would be uncomfortable. Having it with Laura, though it still makes him blush, allows him to just say "Hey! It's my wife. I can romance my wife." and he gets more comfortable with the idea.

I like the juxtaposition between the vaxleth kiss in campaign 1 and this one. One is a declaration of love in front of the group after a pretty major fight, the other a small moment just between the two of them that only they know about.
The way they all tease Trav after just, to me, shows how good of friends they all are. Its so funny. Also my ship is a sturdy ole girl, good to see her sailin'
So sweet that this was clearly as nerve-wracking for Travis as for Fjord, though for completely different reasons. Proud of them both for taking their respective risks!
I love how he asks. Promoting consent is amazing, I also love that this is the trajectory society is going, improvements have been made in the past 30 years.
it also has like a deeper meaning in that Jester's entire perspective about romance was largely influenced by like smut books where like the idea of consent is more implied than readily given. so like this situation ends up being very different.
Travis/Fjord plays this so well. Smooth operator. I wanted a fjord jester romance since the start of this campaign and I am so happy. Figured they would have great chemistry considering. Hopefully it continues and doesnt take too large of a backseat to everything else.
I always like the moments where everyone's SUPER-SERIOUS with the role playing, and you think everyone's losing gaming energy for the day or just suddenly depressed... Then Sam breaks the ice with a single funny line.
It makes it that easier for them since they are a real life married couple. So their connection feels more genuine. Got to give it to Travis for this. He step it up and it really showed.
So all the people thinking Calebs character will change or regress I believe Liam as a player won't want to interject into there relationship In game and ruin anyone's fun even on they dance floor he pushed them together. he will probably persue Astrid or essik
Widojest never even made sense to begin with. Liam said Caleb was "uselessly in love with Jester". As well as Beau, that was just a crush. It was never anything more than that. I still enjoy imagining all the different Ships, but Fjord & Jester was the only real possible option from the start. If I see people in the community complaining about this kiss or thinking that Caleb and/or Beau should react in a specific way, I swear to the Gods I'll give up on this community.
@@thewarlocky plus we already know that Beau is 100% for fjord and Jester. She's seen how he feels enough to bring it up when they were on Rumblecusp and has been trying to get them together. Caleb knew from the start he would never pursue Jester and it would be out of character to get in the way of something good for his friends. Yeah he likes Jessie, she's wonderful, but he lives his friends and you can tell that, above all, he wants his friends to find happiness.
