So glad that y'all picked that song. I cried all the way through it. My Mom and Dad were married 73 years when my Mom passed away, my Dad died from a broken heart 7 months later. We have videos of them singing that song together. Dad playing his guitar. Mom was 15 and Dad was 16 when they got married. Mom passed away in Aug. 2017 and Dad March of 2018. They loved each other so much!! They even sang that song in church a few times.
It's nice to know I'm not the only one crying at this. My parents were married 46 years. We lost mom in 2014 and dad stayed with us until 2021. They adopted this as their song the first time they heard it
My parents just celebrated their 72nd anniversary in February this year. I always thought this song could be about their lives together. My fear is that, like your parents, when we lose one we will lose the other shortly after.
THIS made me cry. Playing and singing at 15 and 16 then married 70+ years. No cheese, write their story and sell it to Hollywood. That has to be a record breaking marriage span. Most people dont even LIVE for 70 years. Thanks for sharing.
Karen, they sound like they were awesome people and shared a great life together. You should be proud to have them as an example of what love and life is all about. My parents were very similar and my Dad's motto was:"Family I s Everything".
He definitely has a beautiful voice. He’s with the Eagles now. Saw them last year. His voice fit so well with them. He can do rock and country so well. Love y’all!!
Saw the concert Nov 2021 in Seattle. Going to Tampa next week to see it again. He is a perfect fit with Eagles. Deacon Frey was with band too in Seattle
Always so excited when y'all do Vince Gill! Please consider "Whenever You Come Around"...he wrote it just after meeting his future wife, Amy Grant, and says it's his favorite song to sing ❤. "Don't Let Our Love Start Slippin Away" is another one of his biggest hits that y'all would enjoy!
“Look at us”! My wife and just celebrated our 30th anniversary, we are still going strong! There is a simple formula to keep the flame going. Just take the time continue falling in love. People who stay together fall in love time after time! Great song!
Vince appears in this video with his first wife, Janis Oliver, who was half of the country duo, “Sweethearts of the Rodeo”. They had a few hits in the 80’s. Check out “Midnight Girl in a Sunset Town” or “Satisfy You”.
You can't ever go wrong with any Vince songs. "Pocket full of Gold" "one more last chance" and I think my favorite "Which bridge to cross". He also has some amazing duets with other artists. Such as Reba McEntire, and Carrie Underwood.
Vince's wife, Amy Grant also has an angelic voice, she songs Contemporary Christian music and they have been married over 20 years--- "I Still Believe in You" another beautiful song
One of the best love songs, EVER! My Sweetie and I will be celebrating our 38th anniversary in June. Our parents were married over 50 years before we lost them. My grandparents were married over 60 years. We still believe in forever! We love where we are in life now. Our children are now grown (32 and 29) and we love going places together experiencing incredible places. Our secret is that we’ve ALWAYS made each other a priority. It’s never easy but at the end of the day, we are one! Cherish each other and treat each day as an opportunity to let each other know how much you are thankful for each other! With love and respect, Rob
Thank you for reacting to this beautiful Vince Gill song. Shout out to Karen Doss and her comment. Mine is a very similar story. Mom and Dad got married when she was 15 and Dad was 19 (because of me 😯). Nobody ever expected that the marriage would last. This became their song the year of their 40th wedding anniversary. Dad passed away last year, just short of what would have been their 69th wedding anniversary. They were a true inspiration to all of their 6 children, and the memories will live on.
You have to do all of Vince Gill. This guy is a iconic country western singer, his voice is unique and he is a superb guitar player. Thank you and please please please more Vince
Melt me into a puddle🥲 I love the story he tells about his dad and watching Dolly on the Porter Wagoner show when he was a kid and how his dad tagged along when Vince did the duet with Dolly😂 Also love the story about his nickname "Sweatpea" that he got from George Jones. His story telling skills haven't received enough attention. He could do a whole album just telling his tales. Check out his live 1991 version of "Pocket Full of Gold" with Patty Loveless, and the incredibly devastating harmony between the two them. Absolute perfection. Also his live duet from 1995 performing "I Will Always Love You" with Dolly at the CMAs. Sadly, that one seems to only show up from really bad VCR copies and sometimes chopped up with photo vignettes, but imo Dolly is at the very peak of her vocal ability and beauty, and they are like a couple of angels together, so it's worth watching and hearing. They reprise the performance years later but it just isn't as perfect as in 1995.
In an interview Gill talked about getting a chance to play a heartbreak song he was working on for one of his idols and has told, "I want to hear a song where they stay together." This is his response to that advice.
Omgosh love me some Vince!! You know once we lost Glen Frey of the Eagles band not long ago .. Vince started playing & singing with my #1 band - The Eagles!! Mr Gill certainly melts ur heart. Thnx Y'all .. have a great week. Now off to watch the movie with y'all. Smile 😊❣️🤘🏼
There is a couple in our neighborhood who have been together for many decades. Every day they walk around the neighborhood together, getting their exercise, holding hands, wearing matching outfits, smiling and talking. My husband and I are always out and about walking our doggy customers and we greet them as we pass each other. We've told them how inspired we are by them and hope to be just like them some day. They're such a sweet couple just like you 2 are. Time flies. Enjoy your time together.
You should react to him and Sara Evan's "No Place That Far" . He helped jump start her career. She backed him up on his album then he was in the video and backed her up
Been following Rob Squad since the beginning. I have little doubt that y'all will be listening to this together in 30 years. Maybe it will be played for you by one of your kids at a 40th anniversary party. No pressure. ❤
Vince Gill was bigtime in the 90's. My favorite song by him is "Go Rest High on That Mountain" that he wrote for his brother upon his death. Thanks for the memory, guys. Still watchin and lovin ya. Go with God. Peace.
My darling late husband introduced me to this song - and thereby Vince Gill - one day by playing his guitar and singing it to me. Forever etched on my heart ❤
He has such a beautiful voice and is such a nice and genuine person. A bit of trivia, for a while he was in the band “Pure Prairie League”. If you listen to the song “Let Me Love You Tonight” you can clearly tell it’s him singing.
You really need to check out Vince playing guitar with Carrie Underwood on How great thou art . It’s one of the greatest live performances I’ve ever seen
This song was written about his 1st wife Janis Oliver. She had her own band "Sweethearts of the Rodeo". They met in 1980 and Vince sang back up for her and did some studio work with her and her band. They didn't divorce until 1997. He then married singer Amy Grant in 2000.
That's up there with my absolute favorite Vince Gill songs. My grandparents were two months shy of their sixty-first anniversary when my Mamaw passed away. Papaw stayed with us three more years before following her.
Now this is real country!!! 80s and 90s country!! Not that hip hoppy autotuned mess most country music is today!! I'll take this anyday. Takes you to another place. I miss it so much
What a voice he had. That's why I enjoy listening to you two, you remind me of songs I have forgotten. So a suggestion, one that has nothing to do with Vince Gill, I know you've done her before, but you have to do Dusty Springfield's 'The Look of Love'. One of those love songs you won't forget.
Always great to hear Vince Gill... This song has a special meaning for my wife & I as we are getting ready to celebrate or 50th wedding anaversery in August... You mentioned you like the guitars. Vince is a monster guitar player... You should check out Oklahoma Border line or Liza Jane.. Thank You
My awesome husband and I have seen Vince live 3 times. Always a beautiful experience. We've been married 20 years and still believing in forever! Thanks again RSR! LOVE YA!❤😊👍
So sad to hear of your loss. I only had my husband for 11 years before he passed away so I can’t even imagine losing the love of your life after so many years. That had to be devastating.
Just saw the Eagles tour, and it was great hearing Vince playing with the band. He is singing some of the Glenn Frye vocals for the group. I wish they had carved out a few opportunities for him to do a few of his songs, but hearing Vince's vocals brought back so many memories. One of the most talented people to ever come out of Nashville.
Last year when my hubs and I celebrated our 30th anniversary we danced to this song. How beautiful his voice. As we glided on the dance floor we remembered how much 30 years has changed. 8 kids and 7 grandkids how blessed and lucky we are. When, I look into his eyes, I still see the other half of my soul, ❣️, he is my best friend, protector, lover and other half.
My generation were born into and grew up surrounded by such a broad gamut of music that I think we were and we remain the most musically blessed age group, cohort of all time. ARLO GUTHRIE possibly encapsulates the other end to Vince Hill, in terms of that spectrum insofar as solo singers is concerned. I saw him at Woodstock, singing Coming into New Orleans. The music video I've seen which best encapsulates the musical revolutiin of us Flower-Power kids.
"Don't forget to pray for me" by Diamond Rio is another great country song. Love you two, you make me smile. Also Collin Raye- "Love Me" is another great song.
Gotta get back to Keith Whitley... You still have only done 1 song of his...😢😢 Please do more... "Don't Close Your Eyes", "Miami, My Amy", "Brother Jukebox", "Till A Tear Becomes A Rose", "Homecoming '63", "I'm Over You", "Ten Feet Away", "I'm No Stranger To the Rain", "I Don't Go Around Mirrors", "Nobody In His Right Mind Would Have Left Her", "I'm Gonna Hurt Her On the Radio", "I Wonder Do You Think Of Me", and "Charlotte's In North Carolina", are fantastic by Keith Whitley, who was just put in the Country Music Hall of Fame... RIP Keith, we still love, and remember you!!!❤❤❤
So happy y’all listened to this today. My wife and I are going on 19 years together next Tuesday and this song really hits home. It’s funny we met in 2004 while working at target and there were about 4 or 5 other couples we worked with around our age (19 to 20ish) and were the last ones left together.
One of the Best voices ever, and certainly one of the Best guitarists ever. So many songs of his leave me speechless, both with lyrics and performance. Keep him coming ... "Whenever you come around", "One", "If I didn't have you in my world" are a few more that deserve a reaction. 😀
PLEASE consider reacting to his song, 'whenever you come around'....it is sooooooo great and is all about how he felt about his 'then' future wife Amy Grant.
Vince has a terrific voice and his guitar playing. He took over an opening in Pure Prairie League. Although before Vince their song Amie is one y’all MUST do. It’s a head bobber!
You guys should check out Ricky Van Shelton. He also has a very rich voice that will make you melt. My favorite songs by him are "Somebody Lied", "Keep It Between The Lines", and "Life Turned Her That Way".
I wanted to make a suggestion, but I don't know if this is the place for it or not.I have a suggestion for Female Friday. It probably won't be up Jay's alley because it's a slow one, although there are violins. It's very early Linda Ronstadt, and even then her voice was so powerful.I know you both love Linda and this is an early hit that you missed. If you do a reaction, please do the studio version. It really show the power of this young ladies vocals. The song is "Long, long time".It was one of her first hits.
Always liked this song. Me and my wife started dating when I was 15 and here we are and I’m 55. We’ve definitely had our ups and downs but there is no way I would trade one year of it for anything
I check this channel daily for three and only three reactions. From my less favorite to my favorite. 3. Alabama 2. Shania Twain and your BEST ReACTIONS EVER. 1. Vince effing Gill. Your reaction to When I Call Your Name was SO GOOD.
My parents were married just shy of 59 years. We gave them a 50th anniversary celebration where they renewed their marriage vows. This song was played at that ceremony. Not a dry eye in the crowd.
I celebrate loudly about my parents being together 60 yrs before my Mom passed. My wife's parents made it 50 yrs before they both passed. We have great teachers in them and we are about to reach our 33rd yr. This song rings out exactly what I feel when I look into my wife's eyes.
