1st of all you are GORGEOUS. 2nd of all THANK YOU for sharing this technique. None of the blush/contour/bronzer placements have ever really felt *right* on my face. I've just tried the vertical blending and my life is changed.
I’d love to watch a video of you doing contour/makeup on different face shapes. I love your channel and have a VERY round face. I would adore seeing a couple of different people having their makeup done by you.
The powder puff tip you showed us right at the end where u flipped the strap over was honestly far more revolutionary and helpful than any of the other videos. Also that last guy was so clearly an AD 😂😂😂 the way he tried to say it’s a struggle switching from a liquid tool to a powder one 😂😂😂
The trick for remembering vertical vs horizontal is, the horizon, where the sun is, is always flat across. So it's horizontal like the horizon! And vertical is vertical, up and down, like your vertebrae (spine!)
You’re so kind and inclusive with how you explain and describe things and it just makes me feel really hopeful and proud! Thanks for being such a bright light in the world ☺️
my partner and I were both drawn to watching this particular vid bc your eye makeup shade looks SO lovely on you!! excellent colour choice even when you're putting it on wonky :3
When Robert showed how to move the strap from one side of the powder puff to the other... did anyone else go "OOOOHHHHHH". Thank you Robert for doing a public service.
I missed the memo on which puff was better for a natural look until this video. I just thought I was using too much powder. Looks like I’ll be updating to that product.
Contouring was scary at first, first time I did it, in lowish light, I realised how awful it looked when I looked in the car mirror. It looked like I stuck my nose in 💩 and the sculpted jawline I thought I created, looked like a 5 o'clock shadow 😂
Most people dampen their sponge, how r u supposed to do that with the rt sponge/ puff? I know u can use it dry but it doesn’t feel as soft and bouncy 🤷🏼♀️
I’m so happy there are MUA content creators that give irl advice and separate the fantasy, overdone fads from what we all really do in life for our makeup - whether for everyday or special effects or occasions ! Thank you Robert for always giving great advice!
RIGHTTT. I love when he gets mad at people hurting themselves for a temporary aesthetic because I do too. But when he said “that is the stupidest thing you can do,” I was like “well…not necessarily.” And then he kinda corrected himself as well. I love it😂
The worst part is that is filmed kinda like a tutorial... On what? how to get necrosis? I understand why is controversial, but now that tiktok makes this kind of shit so ubiquitous, imho we really need content control.
@@peakdelvalle197they used a rubberband tied around a portion of their upper lip to simulate a plumped lip. It's extremely dangerous and doesn't look good and doesn't last long.
As a round face girlie, I saw those vertical contour/blush videos and liked them, but wondered what someone like Robert would have to say. Now that it's been peer reviewed and approved by my favorite beauty RU-vidr, I'll switch up my routine with confidence!
I hate to admit I only tend to do this when I'm a bit lazy and don't have a freshly laundered puff ready to go...or um, just me being lazy!😸😹🎻. I have a huge container of these now, so I really have no excuse other than lazy.
There is a MASSIVE difference to PLUMPING your lips and BRUISING them >.> Dear people, don't HURT yourselves in the persuit of beauty! You can achieve so much with simple colour theory and placements of shadows vs light.... Also: if you are born with thinner lips, embrace that, thin lips are just as pretty as plump lips imo. There is more to beauty than what the TRENDS tells you.
💯I've recently started using pencils to contour my lips due to some volume loss (comes naturally with age) and the different is very subtle, very believable and very there 😉Beauty should not be painful or harmful.
Oh Robert, that lip thing (I don't know what else to call it) made me feel woozy. I'm glad you're unafraid to be the voice of reason when you see people passing on dangerous techniques and so-called hacks.
8:45 starving the tissue of oxygen and creating a toxic environment for the cells. 😉 Thank you for using your platform to slap some reality into the youth. We all did dumb stuff like this as a kid but not because the internet told us to. Kids these days have so much access to information but don't have the sense to distinguish good information from doodoo caca info. You're helping provide kids tools to navigate the surplus of terrible advice that some of these videos promote.
The second girl was spot-on with the brown eyeshadow. I recently went on vacation and forgot my bronzer. A shade in the ELF bite size palette cream and sugar worked perfectly 🥰
Love this. Are we moving back into a "contour the heck out of your face" era again? I sort of feel like we relaxed on that a bit for the last few years, I really hope we don't go all in on that again, mostly because I'm crap at it.
I was crap at it too, til I discovered contouring powders & using the correct shaped brushes. Made it so much easier for me when I actually feel like contouring, so I thought it may help you as well 😊
I have cool Olive skin, and most contours that look cool to the eye aren't cool enough, and bronzers with any warmth don't work, so they turn Orange or ruddy on me. I use Blushers and highlighters if I feel like adding some extra depth, and they work better for me.
I think this kind of makeup is always going to have a place online, because it looks really impressive on camera. They just don’t show you the part where it’s incredibly difficult to pull off in real life.
My tablets can't use it because it's not approved safe by their content store, my PC has it blocked because Linux is cool at coding like that, and my phone while technically a smartphone, can't use apps like that, so I can literally tell folks I can't view content from TikTok, do they have it on YT?
I'm so confused and grossed out by that lip thing, I don't really understand what they did! Who's gonna tell Theresa is Dead that highlighter should disappear when you turn your head? Not me!
Let our Garbage Queen live her alien slut dreams. 😂🤣 I mean, I thiiiiink the video meant that there should not be a pigmented stripe or cast, rather than not having a shine? But I could be wrong. I'm still a huge fan of a shiny AF highlighter & will go to my grave w/ my highlights, buuuut it can definitely get "unflattering"!
I'm so impressed by how much advanced makeup knowledge younger generations have now, but I'm not gonna lie - it was pretty nice not to have to use geometry before work/school. The parallelogram video gave me anxiety. 😂😂😂
Thank to the comments I knew to be afraid of the lip ‘hack’ going in, but good lord what WAS that thing?! At first I thought it was a small prosthetic and she was showing how to blend makeup and lipstick over it.
@@jujubee463 I’ve been reading a bunch of other comments and it sounds like that was the technique, which is just GeArGGGh levels of awful. I really did think I was looking at some little bubble that she had sucked her lip into, the fact that it was so purple even after you removed the constriction… 😖
@@jodiegordon5559 I thought it was a plastic ball too once I saw it wasn’t a prosthetic! I couldn’t (and honestly still can’t) believe that was the after effect. That’s terrifying.
Changing my blush placement was a game changer for my makeup and confidence! I quit the apple of the cheek use and now do the vertical application from cheekbone to temple. My face looks longer and it's just beautiful ❤️
The fact that Robert did not go, "No, *you're* using your beauty tool wrong!" before flipping the handle bit around at the end shows what a gentleman he is. I probably would have, haha 😅
I feel like they eyebrow thing about using a shade lighter is definitely something to keep in mind, but it doesn't work for everyone. my eyebrows are super light naturally, but I dye my hair dark. I think you need to look at the person as a whole when it comes to things like brows. I tend to go a little darker than my natural brow hair, but not as dark as my hair colour because I feel like the change would be too drastic
Same! My brows are naturally medium blonde, but I dye my hair dark purple & my roots are medium brown when they DO show. I dye them a dark ashy brown & use a dark brown brow gel. It's not as dark, but... At least it doesn't look like I sharpied them in! And w/o a darker pigment, it looks one degree of separation from not having brows at all. Which is a good look for SOME PEOPLE... But not me.
@@ZijnShayatanica I die my hair black, so I could get away with black brows, but i always feel like they look so weird...like a stamp or filled in with sharpie. My brows are naturally dark blonde and then they go super light during summer. Whenever I have them waxed or threaded, the beautician always wants to die them, but they always go too dark, so I gave up on that and now I just fill them in with a darker cool toned brown
Oh god i wish people would stop using that stupid voice thingy. Has to be one of the most irritating things ever. I have to skip any video that has it.
The first "hack" looks muddy most of the time, even on her. I tried it many times just for fun and no matter what, it always looked like I haven't washed my face in months, not even the smallest drop of water.
I bought that real techniques tool and I hated it so much. It ruined my makeup and when I used the powder side it shifted my makeup. Overall my base looked so bad. I'll stick to using my RT beauty sponge 😅
I can't even imagine the way the girl in that first video must look up close. Too many layers. I don't understand why we know better by now, but continue to see these videos recommending 5 layers of products.
Omg that 1st girl’s eyebrows were so bad and out dated. Same with her makeup advice. But even if it was good advice I can’t take it seriously when their brows look like that.
Me too! My brows are so much lighter than my hair too so it would look silly if I made them even lighter! Unless I was going for a bleached brow look 😝
Lol yeah, it's a good tip for people with dark hair but for me, a white woman with beige brows? No I need some definition with something slightly darker!
"That's the stupidest thing you can do. Well... you can do crack but... you know." Omg I'm dead! 💀 Robert I LOVE YOU. You're my favorite RU-vidr of all time
"You can do crack, but you know, in terms of looks." 🤣🤣 I really need that Real Techniques 2-in-1. I don't wear make-up often and when I do, it's light. This would save me so much space.
The brows thing is *IMPOSSIBLE* for me. I can't even find any Black brow pencils of any type 99.99% of the time, and with Blue Black hair and a cool undertone, all of the Browns turn Orange or ruddy. If I could have Charcoal Black or a medium Blue Grey, that would be amazing. I've been using eyeshadow and waterproof liquid eyeliner if I need it to not move, though if I could find a brow wax that I could both use and it not eat the powder, I would be...fine.
I have jet black hair and I use a gray-ish taupe on the inner side of my brows and a black on the ends and blend them in the middle and a bit at the inner side, taupe is much more forgiving for the inner bits of my eyebrows so I don't end up with block brows lol. Currently using Notoriously Morbid brow pomade, previously used KVD Beauty they have a really good jet black brow pomade and I don't remember if they had a good cool taupe but they have a lot of color options, before that I used ABH but I think I remember their taupe being too warm, I think the black was kind of charcoal-y black but it's been a while so don't quote me haha. It's hard to find cool toned brow products! But if you can find a cool black and a cool taupe and blend them together it might work for you!
I used to use Nyx, but I haven't been able to find it in almost three years, so I figured they quit making it. If it's only online, I'll cry because shipping for a couple pencils is as much as the product. Benefits "Black" turned ruddy on me, and after four exchanges, and Ulta trying so hard, and Benefit both saying it's not their product that was off, I quit trying. Will have to look and see if Maybelline has it in store, last time they only had browns and reds.
I have super dark brows and that sounds so fun! I've considered bleaching them to try doing matching/ contrasting colors w my green hair but I'm a lil scared lol
@@saltyseafoam Eyebrows are so fun to experiment with because they grow out so quickly. I used to regularly shave mine off until I realised there wasn't actually much point 😂 if you're a bit nervous to bleach them though you could use a colourful liquid liner to do a thin line under them, then you get a bit of colour in there without the fear! x
Omg you’re Wrong about something! So, you are the makeup king, long live the 🤴. But. You misunderstand stripes worn on the body. Horizontal stripes are actually very “flattering” on, it’s called the Helmholtz illusion. I don’t know why fashion “gurus” have gotten this wrong for decades when it’s something that’s actually been proven.
