Oh also Twit is a fun video but it has some strong messaging. She calls the boy a twit for making her out to be a loyal heroic genius perfect kind of girl that he has on a pedestal while she treats him like crap. She has no respect for him because he doesn't seem to respect himself as he lets her walk all over him. By the end of the song she realizes she is the one being a twit for treating a person who loves her so poorly but by then he has given up and leaves her.

She had a relationship for I think it was 3 years and she seemed to have fallen out of love and the relationship came to an end.
LMM = Lost My Mind. Hwasa said one day after work she went home and suddenly had hard time breathing and she cried a lot, she felt uneasy about her future and couldn't think of anything happy. She felt like throwing up and just wanted to run away. She wrote how she felt in LMM lyrics. In the mv she's just living her life when those arrows appears, there is this constant presence of arrows but not at night, when ppl are sleeping she's free from the unjustified hate they throw at her. Some arrows enter even in the place she is living, so she decides to go away from that place. The only arrow able to reach her body is the one she shoots herself, stabbing her in the back. Basically it means she's not hurt at all by what people say about her, what really destroys her is self-criticism, when she treats herself badly. You never see her running away or panicking, she doesn't fall down even when that arrow hits her back. In that moment she decides to go back to her place and faces head on those arrows. The amount of arrows keep on growing and in the end they are so many to cover the sky, but none of them can touch Hwasa. In the last scene she's unharmed surrounded by arrows, it's almost like those arrows created a flowery meadow. Calling back the phrase that open the mv "Flowers do bloom even in rain falling down". Hwasa symbol is a flower and those arrows raining down are the hate people keep throwing at her, so this means I will bloom even if you keep on hating me. TWIT swept charts in South Korea and got real time all kill (first place on EVERY SINGLE chart) plus 2 victories on music shows, it has entered the Top 100 of U.S. iTunes Top Songs chart to currently become the top-selling Kpop song in America plus got amazing results WORLDWIDE too landing on 22nd place in iTunes chart...I'm not talking about the kpop chart but the overall chart! This MV and lyrics are packed with a lot of interesting references and symbolisms. In the lyrics she uses "delicate Shim Cheongie" ...referring to an old korean tale. Shim Cheong (a filial daughter) was sold as a virginal sacrificial offering to the sea, in this way her blind father could make the temple donation needed to miraculously restore his sight. With the help of the Dragon King of the sea, she returned to the land and eventually became a queen. So Shim Chung is sacrificing yourself for the benefits or happiness of others, it means a great love without boundary. There are'nt that many songs with this concept, telling him/her you should live for yourself don't breath only for me...usually it's the other way round, "give me more attention, give me more love". Mamamoo are famous for writing songs with interesting concept, empowering, respect, love yourself and so on. In the beginning of the mv she's reading 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell which is all about the constraints of society and following the rules…she tosses it aside. Her wrapped up in the plastic bag, coming out of a wardrobe crying, walking and dancing with confidence on a table and no one is paying attention to her while when she has a lighter skin tone and cuter hairstyle boys are at her feet...all is a clear reference to how women are treated in korean society. The girl embracing Hwasa is Wheein, another Mamamoo member and her best friend since middle school. Her cameo is interesting too...if you consider the lyrics of this song and Wheein solo 'Easy' it's like watching the opposite sides of the same coin. Plus Wheein is Hwasa source of strenght and comfort, you can see her leaning on Wheein and Wheein embracing Hwasa. Their makeup is natural and they're almost nacked because they can be themselves with each other. In the all black scene where you can see her and the legs of a man; it's like she abused of his love so much that in the end killed that feeling and when she understood what she did to him she tried to take the boy back but in the end he leaves her. Many people pointed out those blatantly fake birds...I mean, they could use CG like the leopard in Egotistic MV but I think they did it on purpose. A bare tree with fake/dead birds. Everything is white, birds, dress and background, so lonely. In Korea and the Middle East it is the norm that white symbolizes time of mourning and funerals. It is an interesting predicament that theorists find white relays the message of clarity. It could be thought that once someone has passed away there may be clarity in the peoples’ lives, or lack there of. And right after compare the black scene...so going back to the theory of the mourning and understanding (clarity) what she lost. the scene where she's dancing and partying with so many people while he's there, he stays still on that bed. They look at each other so she nows he's lonely and sad there but she's smiling at him while dancing, like a spite to hurt him once again. In the end the flower on the ground represents the beautiful relationship she had, the beautiful love he gave to her. When he decides to leave her, the guy tosses that flower on the ground and she tramples on it like she did with his feelings. Hwasa is an impressive singer, but I believe that with the whole of Mamamoo their best is always live performance. They are known for being amazing performers. Hwasa’s voice suits jazz and blues so well. Though you see Hwasa and she is a very different persona on stage and off stage. It is kind of impressive how they all change when it comes to their personas on stage. Side note I’ve come to see that many of the people that react on RU-vid, when they are international tend to have Hwasa as a bias.

Hwasa released cover song every year on her birthday for MooMoo. So did WheeIn this year. Hwasa is my bias too but "Honey", "Flower" and "Candy" covered by WheeIn are just amazing. I think those cover song they chosen fits their voice better .

LMM was a real surprise, I didn't know it was coming when it was released and boom, a serious contender for my favorite Hwasa song. It was a near thing but I'd still say 'Be Calm' is my favorite. If I remember correctly she wrote it for her Uncle who passed away.

there is just something addictive about her voice. Compare to other Korean soloists or girl group members I do not get the same feeling. It not about who the most talented etc... I know there are better female singers but it's the feeling I get when I hear her sing. Her voice is raspy yet sweet and soothing. i'm glad you get to see different sides of Hwasa, a lot of people find her scary or intimidating before they get to know her. Hwasa off stage and behind the scenes is definitely mamamoo's baby, the gentlest and most soft-spoken of the members and i think she's the one who cries most easily too. the contrast is really insane.

There is a lot of symbolism in these songs and videos, not just LMM which is probably what you guessed, her response to all the attacks, false rumors and harassing she gets on social media for rejecting korean beauty standards, showing them that those arrows don't touch her, she can survive to all of them, except when she's the one throwing it, so in the end, she's the only person that can hurt herself. Hwasa had said LMM is her favorite song, and she also co wrote the song. I think of it as a companion piece to Maria, because both songs dealt with haters and what she feels inside. At the end of LMM MV, she faced a volley of arrows, but none touched her. It's because she was strong enough to face those criticisms. Btw, please react to Hwasa's Be Calm; it's a song that she wrote about dealing with her uncle's death and how she comes to gripe with it. !! while i do love hwasa as a vocalist, i absolutely adore her as a lyricist as well. from be calm (i highly recommend u check this out too!), LMM, and even maria, she's really found a way to make her songs poignant yet comforting. just cause she's always been open with her process in making her songs, i'd like to share some of their context with you too! 1) LMM - lmm stands for Lost My Mind, and she mentioned she wrote this one day when she came from work and she just started breaking down. she said at that time she felt raw and empty, and just wanted to run away. she then channeled all that frustration into writing this song. she once told a fan, "the person who can make you unhappy is no one but yourself" and i think this song and mv captured that sentiment perfectly (peep how out of all the arrows being thrown at her, the one that eventually hit her was the one she shot herself) 2) be calm - this one... oof. she wrote this while she was grieving when a family member very close to her suddenly passed. she actually recounted the exact moment that led her to write the song. she said that one day, while she was holed up in her apartment, she was missing that family member so much that she just started crying and screaming at nothing. after that, a very bright light shone through her window and she saw it a sign from that family member, and that gave her comfort. i love be calm because it's not exactly about finally finding peace but more about the first step to actually getting there. 3) twit - oh i could go on and on about this song. hwasa mentioned that she particularly likes songs that are sad but upbeat, and i think it really shows with twit (and maria)! what i particularly love about this song is that she put shim cheong as a reference, who is a popular character in korean folklore that symbolizes loyalty. (for context: shim cheong is known as the ideal daughter who sacrificed her own eyes so that her father could see again) while this character is generally looked up to in korea, she twisted that reference and contextualized it to theme of the song, which is basically about a toxic relationship where one partner is put on a pedestal. i love it cause it gives a nuanced take relationships and how toxic """love""" can be. from "you only breathe for me" & "you're a twit who only knows me" the song eventually has her singing "i'm a twit. i'm a bitch who made you sick" "i don't give you anything, but why am i feeling unhappy too?" alright i'll stop now. honestly i could go on and on about her songs + the lyrics she's written for mamamoo which are riddled with wordplay but i don't want this comment to be too long (as if it isn't already) lol in conclusion hwasa BIG BRAIN

I recommend that you listen to Day6. They are a band that has 5 members and all five of them are vocalists and at least 4 of them sing on every song. They are really good and each of their voices has a different color that I am sure you would appreciate.
I swear, when LMM is being piped directly into your ears, it has even more emotional impact than when you're watching the video. First time I heard it through my headphones was when I was out walking and it came up on my Cowcatcher playlist (Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher). I hadn't heard it that way before, and it was all I could do to stop myself crying... And while Twit is a bop, it's still actually really emotional with it, where she mocks her partner for putting her on a pedestal, then chastising herself when she pushes him away...
