All right, more info, as I watch: You got Wheepup pretty much right on. All of Mamamoo are affectionately nicknamed "Beagles", because they are so hyper and uncontrollable. And Wheein is totally the puppy-est of them all. There is a video "Wheein vs Wheepup" that kind of introduces the puppy persona. All of them can rap, though Moonbyul > Hwasa > Wheein > Solar. Hwasa does rap in Mamamoo songs, so I guess she'd be considered a lead rapper if Mamamoo had positions other than "Leader" (Solar) and "The Loser Club" (the other three). Wheein did a rap song on King of Masked Singer, and you can hear a couple of rap verses out of Solar in Queendom cover of Good Luck. Regarding aegyo and Mamamoo... Wheein has this duality to her - she's the best at aegyo and does it completely naturally, but hates aegyo and cringes when she catches herself doing it. Solar doesn't really do aegyo, she just does Solar - she's shamelessly cringeworthy, and revels in it. Moonbyul is a troll, in the best sense of the word. Hwasa... I can't actually remember Hwasa doing aegyo, she's too chill (but maybe it's my memory playing tricks).

"wheein the leg enthusiast" oh man, you don't even know the half of it... she's got this 'leg thingy habit' as it's generally known...when she gets super excited or super embarrassed, she holds or hugs one of her legs (or sometimes the leg nearest her...has done that with both hwasa and solar before) oh man, and the "i might have to turn the volume down". that... is generally a good idea for videos of their antics. these girls can get super loud, especially solar... this is far from their first time on 'idol radio', but usually the show has an idol from a different group hosting the guests. not quite sure why they thought giving mamamoo the whole show to themselves was a good idea but i'm so glad they did. solar and moonbyul were technically the hosts while wheein and hwasa were technically the guests but, honestly, whenever you get these four women together and they're not performing utter chaos ensues. hilariously, they're all nearly cripplingly shy when they're alone until they start getting to know the people they're around (esp wheein) but together they're just a force of nature 'idol radio' episodes generally run for an hour but this one went a half hour over and the staff were enjoying themselves so much they let it happen. that's one thing about any show these girls are on... no matter how jaded the staff appears to be from seeing idols and entertainers every day they can't help but laugh (loudly) when mamamoo is the guests. a few comedians (one also the host of a radio show) have said that the mamamoo members are perfect comedian juniors and would have made great comedians if they had gone that route, esp wheein (who actually wanted to be a comedian until she learned they had to study for it) byul actually has some radio hosting/djing experience as she was guest host on 'sandeul's starry night' before, a show she was a very frequent guest on when it happened. she also has been hosting a radio show every tuesday for the past few weeks 'wheepup', you're spot on in a way... others have mentioned the girls all being called beagles or beagledols (beagle + idol) because... well, you're seeing what they're like here... they're also portrayed as beagles at the start of the episodes of 'mamamoo tv', where the hairstyles of the pups change to match those of the girls for each comeback. wheein herself is often compared to a jindo dog or a shiba inu, sometimes by the other members. the editors of mamamoo tv were the first ones i saw using the 'wheepup' nickname, though they used 'pupwhee' and the fandom just flipped it. the editors love to throw wheein's name into descriptors of things she's doing like that since her name is the easiest of the four to do that with. she got called 'wheegolas' for winning an idol archery competition, getting 3 10s in a row (the first idol to get that record) on the rapping... all four members can, and do, rap, though solar and wheein mostly do it for fun (they even have had rap battles between the two of them before). hwasa is techncially the second official rapper of the group, though she hasn't done much rapping in recent years. i know we've said byul was originally trained as a vocalist before being told she had to become a rapper to debut in mamamoo but i don't think anyone's mentioned that she's actually thanked both solar and hwasa for helping teach her how to rap the 'chwisa' and 'lemak' names... lemak is the easiest to explain, it's just a shortening of leader + maknae. chwisa is a bit more farfetched. it's short for 'cooking line'. byul used to get called 'rice grain' as one of her nicknames since her head shape apparently reminded people of one and wheein's character in the mv for "um ah oh yeah" is named kuku, which is also a brand of rice cookers. so rice grain + rice cooker = cooking line also on the aegyo... all four members of mamamoo hate aegyo... or, really, they hate forced aegyo. being cute naturally is totally fine and they love when they see natural aegyo from each other. that said, wheein is the best of the four at forced aegyo, so the other three constantly try to get her to do cute stuff, much as she hates it. (similarly, ballads are one of her least favorite musical genres but you see just how amazing she is at singing them. she's gotten more indifferent towards ballads of late but she used to really dislike them in general) on the crying... they were sharing how much they mean to each other at that point and they've said in the past that it's really hard for them to do, since they're a lot like guys in that way...just kind of taking for granted that the others are there. so when they do try to explain how much another or all the others mean to them they all just kind of devolve into a blubbering mess and then solar showing off one of her leadership characteristics... she has zero qualms about making a fool out of herself if it'll cheer the others up, esp wheein and hwasa. she frequently uses 'saranghanu' as a way to get to laugh at award shows and such if they're having a rough time (which has happened in the past with stuff involving wheein's family that really had her and hwasa visibly down until solar did that) ha, kinda funny that you mentioned loving cherri's reactions at the end when her video popped up as a suggestion. i'd written a similar novel to this on her reaction to this same videl

They can all rap. Moonbyul does most of it but Hwasa also raps on some songs and the two of them are MMM"s rap line. They have a subunit song called Dab Dab. Solar is a wannabe rapper and Wheein can do anything she sets her mind to vocally. There are several casual vids of Wheein doing the opening rap of Yoon Mirae's classic Baby Bye Bye but unfortunately she's never done an official cover of it. 1 CM/Taller Than You and Sleep in the Car are Mamamoo's hip hop songs. They were crying because Moonbyul suggested they each take turns giving a message to the member next to them as a way of honoring an anniversary - as I recall it was 2000 days since their debut. Any time the members share their feelings about each other it ends up in tears. Wheein's beauty kind of sneaks up on you, mostly because Solar and Hwasa are so photogenic they draw your attention first, but imo she's a total babe and she seems to get more beautiful every year. Yes, Wheein is called a puppy for all the reasons you mentioned - she's small, cute, adorable and is a hyper ball of chaotic energy. Moomoos are extremely protective of Wheein - she's every fan's beloved kid sister no matter how old they are. For most moomoos if Wheein isn't your bias she's your bias wrecker. 💖 Btw, the other official subunit in MMM is called the Angel Line - Solar & Wheein. They released a song called Angel with a live MV that is simply angelic. Wheein & Hwasa unofficially call themselves 2 Young Girls (2YG) and released a duet song written just for them called Loving One Person. There's a nice "Making Video" of the recording session uploaded by Mamamoo Archive with Eng subs. The other unofficial subunit is called The Loser Club, which includes everyone except Solar. lol

Wheein can be both the most hyper and the most quiet one, it depends on the day or who she's with. When she's around the members or around people she's comfortable with, then she lets Wheepup come out and play, but when she's around strangers, like in interviews or award shows, stuff like that, she's very reserved. Wheein struggles a lot with mental health issues (anxiety and depression, of which she has spoken openly about) and back in 2018 she had to take a looooong mental health break, so if you ever see footage of award ceremonies or live performances in which Wheein isn't around, then it's mostly because it happened during this recovery period. So, yeah, she has her ups and downs, fortunately, this day was a definite up for all of them and we were able to enjoy them all being happy and hyper and just themselves. If you want to listen to Wheein rap seriously, watch / listen to her MV in which she covered Flower (I believe the title is in korean, but you can tell which one it is because the thumbnail is black and white). Hwasa is the second rapper in MMM and used to rap a lot back in the day, not so much anymore. Also, fun fact: it was Yong (Solar) and Hyejin (Hwasa) who taught Byul how to rap in the beginning when she had to switch positions to be able to debut.

Wheein may make you cry everytime she sings a sad song but she'll definitely put a smile in your face whenever she's in her cutest. She's one of the most lovable baby and she always makes me wanna put her in my care 🤗🤗🤗

mamamoo are definitely crazy!! as said in the comments, mamamoo have been given the nickname as the “beagle-dols” of the industry because of their hyper and crazy personality. if you watch their MMMTV videos, thats the reason why their intro shows a bunch of beagles (it’s them! lol the edit in wigs on the beagles depending on the members’ current hairstyles) wheein especially is called wheepup bc she’s usually the most hyper and of course, because she’s as cute as a puppy!

The company assigned them positions at the beginning of their career: Solar - Leader and Vocalist Moonbyul - Rapper and Dancer Wheein - Vocalist and Dancer Hwasa - Vocalist and Rapper But every moomoo knew that they are capable of doing everything, the rapper can be vocalist and vice versa

Nobody's reading this, but: Moonbyul is actually quite an emotional person, especially when it comes to emotionally charged memories.events/etc (more than the other members). The most notable moments are when she cried about talking about her experiences as a trainee and her early years in Mamamoo and during their concerts. They have this song, "I Love Too" that was written by three of the members to their fans. It came from their early years, where Mamamoo was performing and all of a sudden, everyone in the audience held up signs that said, "Never letting go" (the Korean name for the song). Every time they have concerts, the fans always do something special on the last performance. Usually, the music stops and the fans all collectively sing the lyrics. All four of them get emotional (Wheein is good at not crying though haha), but it is Moonbyul that always ends up in actual tears, actually crying. She always talks and gives an impromptu speech, and the members all end up acting like beagles to cheer her up before their next song. (According to some other fans,) the CEO of the company said that Wheein, Solar, and Hwasa are true beagles, but he can always depend on Moonbyul to keep a level head when things get out of hand / so they don't get too out of hand. In their early years, apparently it was also Moonbyul who "reigned Solar in" when things needed to be brought down a few notches. This makes sense though since Solar is the youngest in her family and wasn't used to leadership, while Moonbyul is the oldest of 3 children and used to being an 'unnie'. Moonbyul, while absolutely a beagle who insists that her concept is "NOT CUTE!" (even though nearly all the evidence suggests otherwise XD), is also very thoughtful and very down to earth. She also wrote a message to a suicidal fan on their fancafe some years ago, and has been posting long messages on National Coming Out Day for the past few years. On her Avengirls radio shows, she often calls fans who inevitably end up telling her about their problems, and she always gives advice that comes straight from the heart. IN SHORT: Moonbyul is quite an emotional person and must be protected at all costs (but not actually because, you know, she's 29)

Hwasa is their second rapper. Though... if you watch 1cm (Taller than You) they all rap in it. It's a total crack song they wrote and it's HILARIOUS! x'D

Yeaaay this video!! Thanks! Let me recommend you "Mamamoo questionable behaviour when drunk”, I think that’s the one that made me laugh the most (I legit cried.) I already saw my fellow moomoos giving you more info about their personalities so I’m happy huhu. But I’ll still add my grossly summed up pov of some aspect of their personality I love heh: Solar is the biggest crackhead, she’s just so shameless, she doesn’t care about embarrassment at all and I love that so much haha (that’s also why she’s my bias hehe), and she’s really a happy virus. And yep, she’s LOUD haha Wheein is the cutest puppy indeed, she makes me laugh so much too I love her humour (that’s why she’s my bias wrecker bweheh), she loves imitating others, doing weird faces, and is actually sometimes very quiet too but always here when it comes to laugh at the members behaviour . Hwasa is the most chill (and yop I totally see you being her in that case haha) and doesn’t seem like the youngest but then you suddenly see her baby side and that’s even cuter. That radio show was a rollercoaster, and all the normal moments being cut out makes it even more jarring 😂 The crying part was a segment where they each took turns giving the next member a message. Specifically, it was Moonbyul's message wanting to look after Wheein more like a sister (Wheein was struggling with anxiety and stress leading up to their Hip comeback), and Hwasa's message asking Solar to share her burdens (she's the type of group leader who listens to her members' problems, but doesn't share hers).

Sir Austin commented Solar: "She is crazy" . Well, there's a reason why Wheein and Hwasa's first impression at Solar is that "she was weird". Bc she is. Moonbyul also weirded at Solar at first. Really, Solar didn't have good first impression on all her members. WHEEIN. Can you imagine it? But Solar is honest. I think the reason why Mamamoo is beagledols is bc of Solar. She infected everyone with craziness and chaos

As for an actual guide Purple Hawke has a great one but it is on the longer side, it is great though, a little lacking on the Wheein department. Wheein is known as Mamamoo’s puppy because she is like an excitable puppy, she is known for doing whatever Moonbyul tells her, and they even had a video where Moonbyul says Wheein is their puppy and Wheein just repeats it in English.

Some mentioned about it, but Mamamoo are good at laughing about themself and have fun. They even made a few parodic studio songs who was included in some of their albums. One song is called "1cm" and it's about the members teasing Weein being very short and one song is called "Sleep in the car" and it's about that because of their busy schedule they must sleep in their company car/van. Both songs are very very funny. I don't have specific links but you can find them on RU-vid.

In this video, you can see how Wheein naturally has good chemistry when paired with any of the other members Pretty interesting because her assigned color concept is white and it easily blends with either yellow, red or blue 😇

I would love to watch you react to wonder girls, one of the throwback groups. Almost all the members are solo artists like Sunmi and Hatfelt. I'm sure you will like them!!

Wheein is "Wheepup" because she's considered the sweetie pie slash baby slash puppy of the group. She's got a super hyper personality that incites the bulk of Mamamoo's shenanigans, while on the other hand she's so sweet that the other members literally coddle her like their baby. Many consider her the peacekeeper of the group since she's usually the one who raises a fuss the least and she's happy to take a backseat in order not to cause fights (though of course all of Mamamoo is super chill), which is probably why the members adore her particularly. I personally think her family disputes from a young age made her so non-confrontational - you can tell she puts in a lot of effort into being positive and upbeat all the time even though she often has her melancholy moments.

There's a video that shows Solar showing off her ring tone: which is Wheein's voice. I think she's saying "Hello" but it's just the last part, so it's more like "llo~~~~~" Quick note about dduk-ddak - in Korean it's the actual sound of things falling into place. Like "we're two peas in a pod" ~~ "dduk-ddak." So that's why they were the two MCs. Now as for why they act the way they do...no that's not a cultural thing, that's 1000% a Mamamoo thing. I'm surprised they didn't get a warning for their 19+ dance, Korea's censors are pretty strict and conservative. Great video and looking forward to more content!

Yep, Solar's that crazy. That crazy, and she's got a license to drive heavy machinery. She did a video on her channel about earning her license to drive big rigs/buses/RVs. Also the crying is from something that most artists end up doing on Idol Radio where they're encouraged to say something heartfelt to their members.
